In this video we take a deep dive into the Highfield 560 Sport and discuss how for some people this could be the boat that does everything for you. Toy behind your 4X4, keep at your dock or use as a tender this aluminium hull RIB is a solid little thing that really punches above her weight in many different situations. From mounting your fishing gear to ferrying passengers to and from shore this design seems to work well in a range of conditions considering her size and you could argue that the return on investment or the FUN per litre of petrol you get on this thing is quite high! It was a challenge dlying my drone on such a small boat but i enjoyed it so please jump in the comments if you want to see more boats in this size range as i'm particularly interested in what Highfield seem to be up to with their designs and quality control processes. Note: Sorry about the background noise in this. I recorded it in the queue for the plane in Dusseldorf airport! News in today from the Vendée Globe  that Sam Goodchild on Vulnerable has torn his mainsail from luff to leech at the level of the third batten. The means that currently his mainsail is unusable and he has to drop it and lash it to the boom, diverting on an eastern course to find lighter winds to try and implement a repair. The damage happened when the boat went through a pair of gybes on autopilot, meaning the gybes were uncontrolled. The sail couldn’t take the loaded forces, so is effectively now in two pieces with a top and bottom half. At the time he was in a battle for fourth place with Jeremie Beyou on Charal in 35 knots of wind and mountainous seas, but the focus has very much turned to finishing the race, rather than battling for places. He has two jibs up sailing downwind, with one up each side to be best progress. Currently he has 1200 nautical miles to go to reach Les Sables d’Olonne. Sam has shown himself to be resourceful many times before, but this is greatest test so far. #vendeeglobe #vg2024 #sailing

Climbing the 29 mast on on an IMOCA yacht is a daunting task, but when repairs need to be made it's an essential job for the skippers in the Vendée Globe. Both Sam Goodchild and Jean Le Cam had to go up the rig on Saturday. The leaders on the water are in the calm ahead of the North Atlantic Storm, and we hear from Nico Lunven, who describes how the swell is already building from the north west ahead of this depression, and Giancarlo Pedote who is in a large group who are also tackling light winds in the South Atlantic. The XR 41 is one of the most exciting race yachts for 2025, and we were at the World Premiere on Saturday 18th January at boot Düsseldorf. The yacht marks X-Yachts' return to the racing market, where they made their name initially with the X-79. X-Yachts CEO Kræn B. Nielsen presided over the big reveal, then we spoke with Thomas Mielec, Design Partner, about some of the details which make the yacht so special, together with spectacular footage from the first sail.

The J2 seems to have been a weak point on the IMOCA yachts during this edition of the Vendée Globe, and Jean Le Cam is the latest skipper to have to make repairs to this vital part of his rig after his J2 cable snapped. Today we have the celebrations as Sébastien Simon completed the Vendée Globe podium, then head from Conrad Colman, who explains his upcoming tactics as he makes his way north, and then talks through what the J2 is and the spares he carries in case of failure.
