“Exploring Koh Tao in Thailand was amazing! This was the first beach we have been in Thailand. As we were traveling on a tight budget we didn’t have enough money to go diving, but we went snorkeling instead, and it was totally worth. When bonding two pieces of wood together using epoxy and fiberglass, technique will make all the difference. Properly using epoxy fillets will ensure that there is little stress present in the corner which will produce a much stronger joint. Fiberglass tabbing also helps to spread out the surface area of the joint and decrease the loads on any given part of the joint. The fillet also helps the fiberglass tabbing by reducing the severity of the bend as it increases the radius of the bend of the corner. You will be well prepared to bond your work next time you tackle a project using epoxy and fiberglass. Desde abril del 2015 no se veia tanta cantidad de rorcuales tropicales en el Sur de Tenerife, marzo y abril 2017 estan siendo de los mejores meses para avistar a esta especie, muy facil de reconocer por las tres crestas que tiene en la cabeza, mis recomendaciones si usted se encuentra con una ballena son: 1º Aminorar la marcha o parar si usted la vio soplar y no sabe donde se encuentra, esta sumergida y volvera a salir en unos minutos. 2º Respetar las distancias al animal y a los barcos de avistamiento de cetaceos (los reconocera por una bandera amarilla que llevan) minimo de 60 metros. 3º Si la ballena va navegando a un rumbo, no perseguirla por detras, acompañarla dejandola por una de las bandas. 4º Si la ballena esta dando vueltas, por ejemplo alimentandose, nos quedamos parados, con los motores en neutro, NUNCA dar atras, ni realizar aceleraciones bruscas. 5º Disfrutar de la experiencia

Many of you will have watched the UK's Channel 4 five part documentary "Mutiny" - a re-enactment of the famous 4000 mile open boat voyage undertaken by Captain Bligh and 17 men after the famous Bounty mutiny. If you haven't - check it out! The boat used was outfitted by a good friend of mine, Chris Rees, who is the world's expert on traditional lug rigs. Fortunately I was in Millbrook, Cornwall, when he launched the boat and he asked me to join him for its first sail/row. This video shows the first test sail, as you can see, some modifications were needed to the oars and tiller. We sailed with 9 on board, as they did in the documentary. However Bligh had 18 on board, with twice the stores. Not much room, and far less freeboard! The still shots at the end show us doing the capsize and recovery, both from 90deg and also from 180deg. (That is me being goofy and also in the yellow hat) We also did a practice man over board which only "sort of" worked. So another change was to add foot ropes round the gunwale. Eventually all very successful and reassuring for Conrad Humphries, who was the real skipper on board.
