| Season 2 | Episode 16 | Coches Prietos Anchorage to Morse Point, Santa Cruz Island of the Channel Islands of California. The last week of 2017 I took an amazing solo sailing trip to the Channel Islands. I visit six anchorages on Santa Cruz Island before sailing for Catalina Island and tying up in Isthmus Cove for New Years Eve and meeting up with Meital. We sailed back on New Years Day enjoying sunshine, great wind and thousands of dolphins. On this episode I spend the morning at Coches Prietos Anchorage before hauling up the anchor and setting my sights on Gull Island and finally Morse Point. I had the company of dolphins and discovered I was very low on oil. While I was on my trip I started my first podcast and the first episode is up online now. The podcast is titled “A STERN VIEW” and is something of a cruising guide to anchorages and sailing destinations. Each episode is recorded on location and I cover everything I know about the anchorage from my research and experience at the anchorage. I also kept a journal in my logbook and will be posting them as a blog with still photos. Our first days in the Bahamas led us to the clearest water in the world, where it is like looking at an aquarium from our deck. After entering the Little Bahama Bank, we spend a full day motoring through light winds only to get half way through. Dropping anchor in the middle of nowhere for the night, we wake us to glass calm water and a pod of dolphins coming to say hello. Making our way to Powell Cay that night, we spend a few days exploring this beautiful and uninhabited island, hiking through jungle like trails and even taking Georgie for walks on the beach while enjoying beautiful sunsets. Southerly winds gusting to more than 40-knots for most of the day forced race officials to postpone Race 4 of the NSW Championship on Sydney Harbour today, Every effort was made to get a start, but even after delaying the scheduled start time by 90 minutes, officials had no alternative but to postpone the race. One possibility now is to possibly stage two 'sprint-style' races next Sunday so the full five-race championship can be completed on the scheduled final day.

Avec le projet d'atteindre l'Antarctique, au cours d'un voyage vers le sud, de Puerto Monte vers Puerto Williams (2 500 km) du 29 novembre au 8 janvier, dans les canaux de Patagonie chilienne, après deux jours de navigation, Sir Ernst fait relâche à la Marina de Quinched ( ile de Chiloe) . Ce sera l'avant dernière marina qu'il verra au cours des 40 jours de navigation suivants pour atteindre Puerto Williams au sud d'Ushaia.

Ce mouillage exceptionnel et très sûr nécessite une approche délicate et très prudente sachant que les cartes marines de cette zone truffée de récifs ne sont pas très précises.

Prepare sterile water. (100ppm Hypochlorous acid solution = A 1-in-500 dilution of household bleach with tap water) 3. Wash popcorns with sterile water 3-times. 4. Immerse popcorns in sterile water a half or one day. 5. Put popcorns onto a clean sponge containing enough sterile water. 6. In this episode we've sailed into and dropped the anchor at Cayo Cuervo and we begin to explore. The Cay is very sheltered from all but the South. The Shrimp Fishermen anchor their boats here at night but there is still loads of room for cruiser boats. The Fishermen as you will see are very friendly and welcome a visit. Don't expect a gift of Lobster and if they offer it's your lucky day! Bring Rum as a return gift. Cuba’s Garden of the Queen is a wonderful place. So we decided that the winds were not strong enough for us to sail to Cape Verde so we turned around and headed back to Las Palmas.... it was a wee bit sad because we were all so excited.
