On June 8, the LSG Group soccer tournament took place for the third time. The teams came in from production facilities and regional headquarters all across the globe. While this soccer tournament is always a very special day at the LSG Group, there are many parallels to how we work in our daily business. Episode 28 Atlantic Crossing Complete! We in da Caribbean, Mon Firstly…. Huge apologies for the delay! We will try our very best to get back on track with regular uploads from now on. This episode sees us finally tie up in Rodney Bay, St Lucia with the rest of the ARC sailors and reuniting with some of the friends we made 2,800 miles away in Gran Canaria. With the ARC entry fees each boat receives 2 complimentary nights berthed in the marina so we enjoyed partying with the guys before moving into the bay on anchor where we are happiest. We spent our first week in the Caribbean partying with those already arrived and welcoming the 100 or so boats still to make land. We fixed a few minor Susan Ann issues like a bent goose neck pin but on the whole I think she held up very well during the crossing with no major issues at all. The final ARC awards ceremony was delayed due to the slow crossing this year and we’re so glad that we stuck around for the party because we got quite a surprise! The Big Island really is a BIG island! There's so much to see and we set out to find the best view. We also go to a black beach where green sea turtles are basking, look at stunning waterfalls and we finally have a working fridge again. Aloha! So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Wala…. The long overdue Panama Canal Transit video! A pair of Amel Super Maramu’s, Aquarius and Aloha, transit the canal together. Three Amel Super Maramu captains, Ken, Rick, and JP2 aboard Aquarius during the transit! How about that??? (I swear we did not plan on it). One small step for mankind, one HUGE step for Aquarius as she finally transits from the Caribbean Sea to the Pacific Ocean! Aquarius finishes the transit on December 31st, 2017 just in time for the fireworks over Panama City!
