We race the new Corsair 760 trimaran in the 2018 Bay to Bay Regatta inside Fraser Island, followed by two days 4WDing around it's sandy beaches. This is about as much fun you can have sailing with two days of downwind racing, overnight camping on the beach and with all wind conditions and a top speed of 21 knots!

While wrapping up our stay in Panama, and just two days away from a planned departure to Ecuador, Aquarius is hit by an MPMA launch. The accident forces Z and I to stay in Panama a few weeks longer to fix the damaged bow of Aquarius. After that, we spend a week in beautiful Las Perlas islands, watch a huge pod of dolphins, and finally ...... finally!!! ...... we set sail for Ecuador. Dutchman Nico Poons and his crew on Charisma triumphed at the end of a thrilling final day in the 2018 RC44 Marstrand Cup which came down to the last run of the 12th and last race in sparkling sunshine off Sweden’s west coast. Poons started the day in second place, two points behind overnight leader Torbjorn Tornqvist on Artemis Racing, but after scoring a fourth place in the first race of the day, then his third win of the series in the second heat, he just needed to finish one place behind Artemis to win the title. Charisma started well in the final race but a disastrous windward mark rounding first time round saw her drop from third to last in the nine-strong fleet of high-performance all-carbon monohulls. But Poons and his team, with Ray Davies on tactics, found speed on the run and by the second windward mark they were on Artemis’s tail. They then sat there down the final run to the finish, winning the title on countback with the two crews tied on 48 points. Poons now takes the lead for the season in the RC44 fleet from Igor Lah’s crew on CEEREF, which finished fourth here, three points behind Vladimir Prosikhin’s Team Nika. The next event in the calendar is the RC44 World Championship in Cascais in Portugal starting on September 26th. The RC44 Marstrand Cup is the third event of the RC44 Championship Tour which pits the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high-performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. Sailboat shopping with kids can be a long and tedious process. Days of wandering the docks, looking for the perfect combination of size, features, and layout to enable our family to sail around the world has taken its toll. We went out of the North Edisto River heading southeast, with 17-20 knot winds, beam reach, then turned north running downwind to a fish haven, turned back southeast, headed offshore another 5 miles, then tacked to sail back to the North edisto sea bouy.
