Sailing east coast USA: After an overnight sail from Savannah GA, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) arrives in Charleston SC where we spend few days visiting the town and few days in Greenville (visiting friends Caroline & David) and the Appalachian Mountains. We found Charleston very charming, probably one of the prettiest towns in USA. From Charleston SC we made a 4 days passage direct to New York. Arriving into The Big Apple on a glorious last day of June, we cruised by the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, western Manhattan, then moored up the Hudson. After a wonderful 24 hour visit of Manhattan, we departed via East River into Long Island Sound, towards Boston. 26 June - 1 July 2018

s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) sailing adventure continues north. After our sailing into New York Harbor and the 24hr flying visit of New York, we head into an idyllic evening, sailing Long Island Sound towards New England. The overnight passage gets us to Cape Cod Canal, then into Cape Cod Bay, and up to the pretty harbour of Scituate. We visit Scituate for a couple of days, then early morning on 4th of July we are sailing into Boston and enjoy the independence day celebrations, where it all started. 4th of July in Boston was great! 1-5 July 2018 We document our sailing adventure through daily articles on our sailing blog www.sailcloudybay.com

The purpose of this instructional video is to demonstrate the techniques of measurement of sailboats and their dimensions, their characteristics and their stability. La carène a été modifiée pour recevoir une motorisation plus importante et avoir une plus grande portance, le mât est bien évidemment absent et un flybridge avec hard-top, où l'on trouve le poste de pilotage, a été ajouté. Le volume intérieur est sensiblement le même que sur le modèle à voile. C'est un bateau de croisière très confortable, aux très belles finitions avec un esthétisme travaillé.

Some of you might remember when we lost our DJI Mavic Pro to an accident in the marina and it fell in the ocean... it was on the bottom in salt water for almost half an hour before we recovered it. I put it in a fresh water bath right away for several hours, but after several days drying out and many attempts to revive it, it was officially dead. A few months later I found it in storage and decided to try it again just for fun... and it worked!! After a few tests and to check if it was communicating with the remote, we took it to a field well away from everything to see if it would actually fly, and it flew perfect and with all sensors working.. only thing still broken is the camera gimbal, but we have the parts to fix that now and will give it a try! Long live the DJI Mavic Pro! We embark on a 300nm sail to a new country, Indonesia. The 4 day passage was plagued with storms every night which kept us on our toes! Arriving to Jayapura, Indonesia, we go through the run around of organising our entry which rarely goes smoothly. We have trouble with immigration and they take our passports. Give them back! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
