We finally travel to Greifswald to pick up Aurora, our new Hanse 418. We leave for Germany together with Torbjörn from Bohus Yachts Sweden, who will be doing the handover and helping us getting the last things done. For Tanja it’s the first time she will see the boat and it’s an emotional day. In Greifswald we still have a lot to do before we are ready to start our journey north to Stockholm; stern anchor needs to be fitted, sprayhood and cockpit tent needs to be put up and checked, and a couple of last runs to the boat store for more stuff. We chose a sprayhood and cockpit tent from the Swedish company Kapell & Annat as from the research we did, they seemed to deliver the best quality. We were really happy with our choice. link: https://kapell-annat.se/ Instagram: sailing_yacht_aurora
In this episode i make some fillets and apply fiberglass on the inside edge of the upper hull panels. Also going through the plans and showing a little bit of that side of the process ⛵️🏝😀
This video features Three Tables Beach which offers some of the best Oahu snorkeling opportunities. It's located on the north shore of Oahu and has some healthy corals, lots of fish, and interesting underwater topography. The water is usually clear making this one of our go-to spots on the island. This year the crew of SV Avocet had the opportunity to participate in the Home Port Regatta, a fun race for cruisers and liveaboards pulled together by cruisers and liveaboards! The best part about it is all the proceeds benefitted the Channel islands Wildlife Institute. Although the wind was not in our favor, it was a fun sail with fun people and we can not wait for next year. Enjoy this little recap of us struggling to fill our sails and get in the groove of racing our Cheoy Lee 41, Avocet instead of our usual "race boat" the Victory 21.

This week we go on a romantic cave swim with flesh eating shrimp!! We pick up anchor at Lee Stocking and head out the cut, we have to do lots of tacking but we make it through the ok, watching the waves crashing on the reef as we pass through. Our next stop is Little Farmers Cay here in the Exumas. As always, when we are sailing we have to be super adaptable of what the wind is doing and change plans accordingly. We like to say we have ideas not plans. Instead of taking Farmer’s Cay Cut, closer to the anchorage, we decide to take Gulliot Cut because it is getting later in the day. To our pleasant surprise, after an easy sail through the cut, the conditions on the Caribbean side are way more favorable than in the Atlantic side. We pick up to seven knots and fly on into Little Farmer’s Cay with time to spare before the sunset. We hop into the water just a shot dinghy ride from the boat. It was a small reef, but full of life. We spotted some grouper, a barracuda, an albino stingray, lots of colorful reef fish and an eel hiding along the reef. After we finish up the dive, we hike up to a lens pool cave. BUT first we need to find it. We search and search, take in the amazing sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and FINALLY stumble onto the cave. We head in and it was gorgeous. Lots of stalactites dripping fresh water into the pools of water beneath them. This is the first cave we have been in with pools of water that you can swim. We decide to get in… but unaware to us, during this romantic swim, we were going to be rudely interrupted by some shrimp nipping at us. Even with the shrimp, we highly recommend this cave! If you are new to sailing/cruising or plan to be soon, the most important lesson you can take from our experience is to buy the biggest and best anchor you can afford, and learn how to secure it WELL! The squall in this video was over 60kts with a 180 degree wind reversal... not fun! When I chose my Mantus 105lb anchor from Mantus Marine it was because it had the best tested track record for resetting itself in extreme conditions due to the shape and distribution of weight at the tip of the anchor... todays situation affirmed in my mind that this was a good decision. You will all have to make decisions that your boat and/or lives may depend on, so make sure and base them on the best and most recent information available. You can find information on our anchor choice at: http://www.MantusMarine.com Safe sailing everyone. See what happens when Ryan encourages some girl friends of ours to expand their free diving limits. Blacking out is one of the most dangerous risks of free diving but it is a risk that can be mitigated with proper training, experience, and technique. The dangers of loosing consciousness while free diving is even more pronounced while practicing breath hold diving in the remote areas we visit while sailing. But when everything goes well free diving is one of the most pure and beautiful ways to move through the ocean world. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love
Train Street is a REALLY unique street on the edge of the Old Quarter in Hanoi! It's an experience you do NOT want to miss - basically it's a track that runs down a narrow street lined by residences, bars, and cafes. The people watching is amazing and sipping a beer or coffee while doing so makes the time fly by...until the train arrives. We watched the train in two different locations. Our first spot was in the less touristy area which means the train gets a lot closer to you. In some areas, if you are not "one with the wall", you will get hit by the train! It comes THAT close. The locals are great about warning you to stand back or move. The second location we watched the train from was the more touristy area. There is more space between you and the train. Make sure you walk to the area where there are no cafes and it's just real life for the local people. #china #chinalifestyle #chinalife #qingdao #trainstreet #train #vietnam NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Seal Beach Yacht Club Pop Tops - 2019 - Series 1 - Race 1 May 9, 2019
The 52nd edition of Antigua Sailing Week will be remembered for a cocktail of superb sailing, thrilling racing and a great party atmosphere ashore. Teams from 21 different countries from all over the world chose Antigua Sailing Week as their destination. The trade winds blew for all six days of racing; mixed in with tropical heat and a rollercoaster ride of Caribbean swell, Antigua delivered world class sailing. Racing was incredibly close with the majority of the classes enjoying thrilling competition. New marks introduced provided the opportunity for longer coastal courses, allowing the boats to stretch their legs and take in the beautiful west and rugged east coasts of Antigua. The introduction of new top and bottom marks on the Windward Course allowed for better windward-leeward race tracks, testing the technical abilities of the international fleet. The 53rd edition of Antigua Sailing Week will take place on April 25th – May 1st, 2020. #ASW #RaceChaseCelebrate © Acquafilms

In this episode, I visit the Atlantic Highlands Marina just across the bay from NY City. It is about a 10-15 mile boat ride across the water to the Verrazano Narrow bridge which is the gateway to New York City. Once under the famous bridge, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Manhatten and the Hudson and East rivers all come together. I went there primarily to look around at a place we used to go often as kids. We would go with my dad and watch the boat ramp. It is always exciting to watch the boat ramp. I then drove out to Sandy Hook. Sandy Hook is a small hook shape peninsula that separates the Intracoastal Waterway (Navesink River) and the Atlantic Ocean. If you went straight off the end of the peninsula heading north across the water you would eventually be on Long Island. It was still too cold to get in the water, but it was great reminiscing about the times we went there as kids. As an adult, I went beyond just the shoreline and explored Fort Hancock at the end of Sandy Hook. This fort sustained some damage from Hurricane Sandy a few years back but is still an active NOAA and Coast Guard base of operations. I also spend a bit of time in this video talking about AFIB. Arterial Fibrulation, which is something that I have intermittently. It is what my dad had an episode of that had his health deteriorate so bad in the hospital in his weakened post-surgery state, but while staying up here with him and helping him out and visiting doctors and what not, I ended up also going into AFIB. Luckily for me, I can feel it and have a medication I can take that (touch wood) has always helped get my heart right back into a regular rhythm. But I got into some detail explaining and showing what AFIB is for those that are not familiar with it. I hope you enjoyed this episode. Don't forget to check out our Website at http://svdreamchaser.com for more details on all of these topics we post videos on, and more. We will get back to more regular boat work and lifestyle videos as soon as my dad is healthy and on his own again. Deb and the girls are still on the boat doing a little bit of work, so as they film what they are doing, I will be sure to post those as well and incorporate them into the videos. We leave Staniel Cay and head for Black Point on Great Guana Cay, the largest settlement in the Exumas (aside from Great Exuma). We fell in love with this place, it’s such a cool local community full of bars, restaurants, markets and many other things to see and do in the area. After our short sail, we drop anchor in the quaint harbour and make our way in to town to the cruisers favorite Lorraine’s Cafe for happy hour/dinner. By the time we leave town the winds pick up to 25-30 kts from the West which means no protection, we just have to sit it out! Once the front passes, we’re more than ready to get off the boat and get some land time to stretch our legs. We run into the awesome Beau, Brandy and Oona from Sailing Saoirse (whom we’re big fans of!) and tag along to find a blow hole just a short walk from town. After spending several hours on the beautiful Atlantic side of the island, we head back to town to get some famous bread from Lorraine’s mom (she sells it out of her home, just behind Lorraine’s restaurant). After saying goodbye to our new friends we dinghy around the western tip of the island to do some snorkeling, conch diving and beach bumming. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Thank you! Tony

In this episode we enjoy smooth sailing to Governor's Harbour from Hatchet Bay, where we will anchor & wait for our shipment of new map charts for the Caribbean. While in Governor's Harbour, we checked out the once beautiful and exquisite Club Med. Unfortunately Hurricane Floyd in 1999 destroyed the popular resort, leaving behind only the most powerful structures. It was a really neat place to explore because you could literally assume what each building/station/structure was! Hope you enjoy the video! Countless faces, virgin snow, and ice all around. Northern Norway is a wild place in winter. In this vlog we explore the east face of Tindstinden. To our state of knowledge, this face hasn't been climbed in winter before. This is the story of our potential first winter ascent on this Arctic winter sailing and climbing expedition. We decide to go fast and light: We leave our bivy gear behind, and climb from the Sørvågen harbour to the summit and back in a short day in the winterly Arctic Circle. Our route starts on an obvious ramp leading into a narrow gully, where we find a rather sketchy pitch of alpine ice. In the upper part of the face, we follow an amazing system of rocky ridges and steep couloirs. So this week we head off with the Medway Yacht Club cruisers again on a little jolly along the coast a short way to Conyer Creek and Swale Marina. Its not a long trip, pretty much all inland as we travel down in the Lee of the Isle of Sheppy, and with the forecast that was given it should have been quite pleasant. Except the wind piped up to over 40 knots making the journey more exciting than normal, we run aground on the way up the creek, and then we get a rope around our propeller just when we didn't need it. All way more exciting than we had hoped for. If you would like to leave a comment and find that YouTube has disabled them again on this film, then please take a look at the community tab on our page. We will leave a discussion open on there so that we can all have a chat about what happened. We make these films just for fun, and we hope that you have enjoyed watching them however we have been asked on a couple of occasions now if we have a Paytreon account. We don’t want to do that at this stage as we feel it would turn the channel into a business, and as we said at the beginning, this is all just for fun. However if you would like to support us and feel you could help contribute to the cost of making these films then you can do that via our PayPal account here. https://www.paypal.me/TheFoxwellFamily And a big thank you to everyone that has supported us so far, its very much appreciated.
