Shredded Sail and a Stalking Shark 71 | Beau and Brandy Sailing Finally! We're off to Ile la Vache. We avoided a few crab pots on the way out of the bay. But it was a very slow sail out, but once we rounded the corner the wind picked up. We We're cruising at 6-7 knots. I put a reef in the main just as the sun was setting. Then... we hit a nasty squall. With it came rain, lightning, and about 35 knots of swirling wind. Unfortunately, our mainsail couldn't take it and ripped from leech to luff. Thankfully we still had our backup mainsail that Dan and Kika, Sailing Uma, gave us. Once we swapped them out, we were off again. But the wind didn't want to cooperate as it died on us. But we're glad it did because we got to see the coolest thing. A baby Oceanic White Tip Shark decided to check out Saoirse and see what we were up to. We had a beautiful sunset. We say goodbye to Malta after 2 months of great memories and amazing people! bitter sweet to say goodbye, sad to go but excited for the next part of our journey!!! We had some amazing footage of the morning crossing on Brittni's phone but we accidentally dropped in in the tender which was full of water and that was the end of that!! We woke up at 4.30am and took Jackson for a bathroom break, then headed off to the breakwater to meet up with our friends Jeffery and Robert on their boats to do the passage together! it was very calm conditions, having to motor sail most of the way.... after 8 hours we made it to our first overnight stop ion the way to Syracuse. Syracuse was a beautiful town full of character and the food.....ohhhhh the food!!!!! Next stop Taormina!!! Finally! The Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show! Our first time on-board production catamarans is an eye-opener! We get to see and feel the spaces, both indoors and out. We put our eyes and hands on the wood-work and joinery, and we get to experience the flow of these boats. For Joely the rolling of the deck, especially in the hulls, was an unpleasant first-time experience, although I'm sure she'll get used to it in no time. She was probably more hungry than motion sick. Im zweiten Teil packen wir wieder ordentlich an. Die frisch grundierten Stellen im Cockpit werden mit Vorstreichfarbe versehen, lackiert und am Ende noch mit Kiwigrip versehen. Parallel kümmern wir uns auch um unser Bad. Hier haben wir im letzten Jahr schon alles vorbereitet, sodass wir diesmal die Toilette, Badschrank, Schwarzwassertank und alle weiteren Badmöbel einbauen konnten. Wir hatten auch ordentlich Unterstützung bei den Fensteisten, sodass wir diese neu lasieren und auch gleich einbauen konnten. Zu guter letzt haben wir uns noch um den alten Teakboden im Cockpit gekümmert. Dieser wurde angeschliffen und mit Teaköl neu versiegelt. Chazzy and I fly back to Florida, and we do a little bit of house hunting. We met with the realtor and saw a few homes. From there, I went back to New Jersey. I have been taking my dad to do some different activities to hopefully spark some interest in him doing these kinds of things as well. I am a huge fan of staying active and doing things even when doing them by yourself and am trying to instill that with Dad too. We went to see a Hello Dolly at a local community playhouse. The Springfield Theatre is a beautiful colonial style home/building that has been converted into a theatre. We had a great dinner at Red Lobster and then off to the play. I then did some business travel to Minneapolis, which was quite nostalgic for me, and I enjoyed it. Then Deb and I put in an offer on a house. It didn't quite meet all of our needs, but we figured, at the price, it would work and had a lot of what we liked. I will show you that house in this video as well. With the offer accepted, we are not going to do a full-blown inspection, and based on that we will see if all is still good — more on that next week. Awhile back we took the boys on their first Cruise 🛳 aboard the Carnival Magic out of Galveston, Texas. We brought along the Grandparents, some uncles, and some aunts. Unfortunately, due to extreme circumstances, two of the Willis Wanderings crew could not attend. Cruising with two teens with Autism did have some challenges... especially Anthony with toileting issues.... but we persevered. The boys did great in Cozumel, Belize and Roatan, Honduras. Overall this trip was a blast and has provided lasting memories. We are thankful for all of our family members that helped assist the boys with achieving a successful experience as we did not have any third-party help. The boat is constructed of exterior quality plywood, sealed with epooxy and sheathed in glass fibre and epoxy. One of the great beauties of these boats is that the ballast keel is fitted towards the end of the build, enabling the boat to be kept lower in the shed for most of the construction time.
