Deux heureux vacanciers au milieu de l'Atlantique sur des îles portugaises : les Açores Destinations mythiques des navigateurs, territoires sortis tout droit de l'imaginaire d'un poète, îles aux multiples facettes entourées d'un océan brut, les Açores sont magnifiques. Nous avons eu la chance de parcourir 5 des 9 îles qui composent cet archipel durant 3 semaines. Entre randonnées, plongées, visites des petits villages pittoresques, baignades dans des sources thermales, dégustations de plats locaux, nous en avons pris plein les yeux. C'est une destination que nous ne sommes pas prêt d'oublier. La première île que nous avons parcourue est Sao Miguel. C'est la plus grande et développée des 9 îles, la plus orientale aussi. Connue pour ses sources d'eau chaude, ses bocages séparés par des hortensias, ses nombreux villages côtiers, visiter Sao Miguel est déjà un voyage en soi. Tant de splendeur dès le début des vacances, on ne pouvait pas rêver mieux. One of the great beauties of these boats is that the ballast keel is fitted towards the end of the build, enabling the boat to be kept lower in the shed for most of the construction time. Introduced as the bigger Hobie 14, the Hobie 16 revolutionized the multi hull scene when it first appeared in 1971. Forty plus years later, this boat continues to attract great sailors. Powerful enough for the world champion, yet forgiving enough for the novice, the 16 can be characterised as the Laser of the catamaran world. It’s a dual trapeze boat for two or more crew that can be sailed in strong winds. It stows completely belowdeck and occupies 40% less horizontal and less than 50% of the vertical space required by the previous market leaders. The CLR weighs just 33% of its competition while delivering comparable mechanical advantage. This compact form makes it possible for yachts to mount two CLR winches at the stern quarters and one in the bow. After we finally fixed the gearbox of our Vindö 50 sailboat we set course for Paris. As night fell we reached the city of lights and it didn't disappoint. Seeing the Eiffel tower from your own sailboat was a dream come trough. Wine and croissants fell from the sky and all was good. After Paris, we we're eager to make up for lost time but unfortunately we lost all steering. There wasn't anything we could do but make a plunge under the boat into the Seine. Later we found out this wasn't the last of our problems.
