Kadey-Krogen or Nordhavn? Ask Dennis Fox- He’s owned 5 of each! Dennis and Julie Fox love boating, they have made it their “thing” since 1995, favoring being afloat over golf, tennis, gardening and other land-based activities. Jeff sat down with Dennis a few weeks ago in Stuart, FL aboard the Krogen 48 North Sea, Klassy Kady. Julie wasn’t available to film this Cruising Conversation, but Dennis can speak well for the two of them. Dennis has become the model of every yacht brokers dream client – a serial boat buyer. Dennis and Julie prefer to purchase new, travel, tweak and then sell to try a different approach. They have also purchased brokerage boats and even “rescued” a boat or two. There is no boasting involved, just a matter of fact choice to spend their free time on the water. The decades offshore have been kind to them, and they have been kind to other boaters – creating a very well-connected group of cruising friends who they still spend time with regularly. The boats are one thing, but the friendships are the main thing. They love the trawler lifestyle and the camaraderie of fellow cruising folks. As the conversation developed a number of mutual acquaintances (both people and boats) illustrate the tight knit trawler community that we all have embraced. Dennis is subtle with his sense of humor, but you can see the sparkle in his eyes, and he was as charming and amusing in person as he is portrayed on film. During their boating career they have enjoyed travelling on both US coasts, have done the Great Loop twice, sailed down to the Caribbean, crossed the Atlantic and cruised the Mediterranean. They have traveled by themselves and in groups (FUBAR/CUBAR and the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally). A series of Sea Fox named boats and a Julie K or two have sailed all over, typically crewed by family and friends on the longer trips and just Dennis and Julie on shorter excursions. So, Kadey-Krogen or Nordhavn? As Dennis told Jeff “People should buy the one they like, but buy it, as there is no perfect boat, just the next boat! Weekend in barca a vela nel Golfo dei Poeti e 5 Terre. Un week-end all’insegna del relax e divertimento guidati da un istruttore di vela esperto. Da una delle basi nautiche di La Spezia Navigheremo su una barca moderna e confortevole, lungo lo splendido Golfo deoi Poeti e 5 Terre Un breve fine settimana in barca a vela per prepararsi alle meritate vacanze! Un week end adatto a tutti, non è richiesta esperienza, solo un pizzico di spirito di avventura e passione per il mare. L’itinerario di massima viene pianificato di volta in volta con l'istruttore in base alle condizioni meteo marine. A volte può essere anche molto personalizzato a seconda delle esigenze del gruppo. Poiché si tratta di una crociera scuola i partecipanti prenderanno parte alla vita di bordo e potranno imparare le regole base della navigazione a vela alternandosi ai ruoli.

En effet, ne connaissant pas le fonctionnement des clearance pendant les fêtes dans les îles anglo-saxonnes et les horaires de leur administration, on a préféré viser la Guadeloupe car au moins on serait dans un pays de langue française avec des formalités plus simples. Nous avons beaucoup aimé l'île d'Antigua, même si les formalités sont un peu excessives, mais cela vaut la peine. On regrette de ne pas avoir pu rester plus que 2 semaines, dont presque 1 semaine bloqué à St. John's par le mauvais temps, tellement c'est magnifique et les mouillages idylliques. Le sud de l'île est parfaite pour des ballades et les mouillages dans les baies sont très bien protégées. English Harbor fait partie du patrimoine de l'Unesco. Nous avons même rencontré le voilier @svdelos , (#svdelos ) sur l'île d'Antigua. Ils étaient comme nous de complets débutants en voile quand ils ont décidé de voyager en #voilier. Toda a obra: desde o tratamento de osmose no fundo do casco, pintura de cobre, reforma de interior está sendo feita por mim. How to get the dingy off the roof of the yacht and into the water along with getting on and off the boat safely.

Yess we are doing a GIVEAWAY!! Win a full week on board of Messenger for 2 persons. check the details in/under Vlog 25 Our last day of preparations before we leave the safe port of Ghalib behind and head for the unknown sea :) We have a lot to do, are very busy but have some nice moments with the friendly locals as well. On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtDOpi7ydzdcRK1H7fEiQFQ . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We cooperated with OM to visit their projects and film them on our way. Since 19 of March we started with a daily vlog due to the corona situation. We plan to keep doing this the coming months.
