This is a handy-man special! OR and Motor package and a trailer! There is some rotten wood in the floor (and very likely the stringers, motor mounts and transom) that needs to be replaced with good wood BUT there is a monster power package hiding in there that is much newer than the boat - It's a 2000 vintage 7.4MPI mercruiser – 330HP 454 V8 with fuel injection! Compression is good across the board on the motor. The boat could be used as is for a season or two, but this is mainly being sold as a motor package and a trailer. Day 4 at Sea! Brian Is it easier or harder than you though sailing with a 6 month baby? - “Well we’re still alive and no one is going crazy, so I guess easier” :p After 3 days averaging 4 hours of sleep a night I was definitely starting to feel like I needed a solid NAP. Delos was making great speed flying along at 11 knots from time to time surfing down waves when we spotted the outline of an island just after sunrise. After a pit stop at the Island of Great Inagua to clear Bahamas immigration and customs we continue for another 24 hour sprint to arrive in the isolated Ragged Islands. 19 mai, nous commençons à bien connaitre les patates qui entourent Bambo et avec le vent de sud-ouest, le mouillage devient rouleur, il est temps de bouger ! Nous faisons cap vers la côte Est de Grande Terre, vu la direction du vent et de la houle, N’Gouja, sur notre route, réputée pour la présence de magnifiques tortues vertes n’est malheureusement pas envisageable pour un arrêt, ce qui nous fait poursuivre jusqu’aux 3 Baobabs, une baie plus protégée mais sans bouées. Vingt-six mètres de profondeurs ! Je dois dire que ce genre de mouillage n’est pas notre kiff. En Australie ou à Palau, ces hauteurs sous flottaison ne sont pas rares, mais nous sommes surpris de constater cette particularité autour de Mayotte. Après quelques recherches, cette spécificité n’est pas étonnante. L’île est le fruit de la réunion de deux édifices volcaniques dont la genèse remonte à 15 millions d'années, ce qui explique en partie les reliefs sous-marins abrupts des côtes. L’information, certes intéressante ne rend pas plus appréciable l’inconvénient de notre ancrage, qui par presque trente mètres mériterait un minimum de 90 mètres de chaine, or nous en avons seulement 70 ! Ce type de situation contribue formidablement à nous rendre méfiants et malgré la bouteille de rhum retrouvée dans notre bidon de survie et le superbe rayon vert que le soleil du coucher nous a gratifié, nous passerons une nuit d’insomnie en pressentant un mauvais coup du sort ! 20 mai, notre instinct ne nous a pas trompé et notre témérité est amendée ! Voilà ce qui arrive quand on n’écoute pas ses ressentis, vingt minutes pour remonter notre ancre ! Ah nous ne risquions pas de déraper, nous étions empêtrés dans les ramures d’un arbre aussi large que Black Lion. L’enchevêtrement était tel que notre guideau, sous le poids du tiraillement en a eu des bouffées de chaleur jusqu’au témoignage par « disjonctage » de son seuil de tolérance ! Il suffit d’une anecdote comme celle-ci pour nous couper l’envie de revenir en baie de Mzouazia et nous pousser à trouver une implantation moins profonde. Mon capitaine, bien décidé à dormir plus sereinement la nuit prochaine a étudié les options et son raisonnement nous oriente vers la baie de Boueni à une dizaine de milles de là. Un petit clapot, 20-25 nœuds au près, toutes voiles dehors et Blacky s’emporte autant que les dauphins à nos étraves ! Je crois bien que Cyril est autant excité que son Lion noir de pouvoir galoper. Tous deux, en extases à 8 nœuds s’éclatent à tirer des bords pour nous faire arriver en fin de matinée non loin de l’îlot Karo-ni. La liesse de cette navigation dulcifie notre déboire du début de journée et surtout, nous aide à relativiser sur l’abandon de notre moteur ! Ce n’est pas une blague, la réparation que nous avons effectués sur notre moteur tribord vient de lâcher ! Va falloir adopter la « Kazimir attitude ». La situation étant ce qu’elle est, et nos possibilités de réparer étant nulles sans pièces de rechanges, nous temporisons en allant braver courageusement la végétation dense et verte de la petit île. Des agriculteurs y pratiquent une culture vivrière et se sont vus délivrés une convention agricole afin de reconnaitre cette pratique et de tendre vers des pratiques respectueuses de l’environnement. Papayes, fruits à pain, ananas, oranges, un vrai jardin d’Éden entouré de la plus grande mangrove de Mayotte. 22 mai, afin de profiter encore des faveurs du vent qui doivent faiblir dans les prochains jours, voiles en ciseaux, nous prenons la direction de la baie de Soulou à onze milles. Petit joyau de Mayotte, cette petite anse au nord-ouest de la grande Terre abrite une cascade mais pas n’importe quelle cascade, une chute d’eau qui se jette directement dans le lagon ! Durant notre premier voyage, une seul fois, un tel spectacle nous a été offert, au Vanuatu et la description que j’en avais faite pourrait très bien convenir aujourd’hui : « Tous les jours, un nouveau jardin océanien entoure notre maison flottante. Ce matin, la créativité du paysagiste dépasse nos espérances. Une cascade limpide dévale purement la colline teintée de vert qui baigne son pied dans le lagon, le spectacle est magique, … ». En ces temps de confinement, nous ne pouvons-nous empêcher de penser que nous avons une chance folle ! En bateau, nous avons accès à des lieux uniques et ce petit bout de France qui nous était indiffèrent avant de nous y rendre, se dévoile à nous avec splendeur ! Les ilots suivants nous rapprochent de Anjouan, l’île Comorienne la plus proche de Mayotte. Nous sommes aux Choisils ! Reliés à marée basse par une langue de sable blanc, ces deux ilots de roches noires entourés d’un superbe récif et regorgeant de merveilles dans une eau translucide nous fascinent. Nous y faisons notre plus jolie plongée et mon cameraman aquatique se retro.....

For three days the streets were packed with people in colorful garb celebrating and entreating the Lord Marugan to give them favor and answer their prayers. Don't miss the unbelievable sacrifice the people go through to gain more favor and have a better chance of having their prayers answered. [WHAT IS THAIPUSAM?] Thaipusam is a festival celebrated by the Tamil Hindu community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai (January/February). It is mainly observed in countries where there is a significant presence of Tamil community such as India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, Caribbean, South Africa, etc. The word "Thaipusam" stands for both "Thai" which is the tenth month in the Hindu calendar and "Pusam" which means when the moon is brightest. [HOW HINDU CELEBRATE THAIPUSAM?] Thaipusam is a day of prayers. Dedicated to Lord Subramaniam, also known as Lord Murugan, this festival is a time for repentance for devotees bearing various "kavadi" burdens and food, flower and coconut offerings with celebrations carried out mainly at the temple. [PREPARATION BEFORE THAIPUSAM] The preparations start 48 days before the two-day Thaipusam festival. The devotees clear themselves of all mental and physical impurities. They take only one vegetarian meal per day and 24 hours before Thaipusam. Ich fahre seit Jahren einen Eliche Radice Falt-Propeller und bin sehr zufrieden damit. Er verringert spürbar den Widerstand unter Wasser und so ist er eine sinnvolle Investition für eine bessere Leistung der Suria. Hier zeige ich euch, wie ich den Prop montiere. Viel Spaß dabei!
