How do others juggle careers, cruising and a liveaboard life style? Listen to this Boston liveaboard couple talk about careers and cruising as we sit at anchor at Edgertown, Martha's Vineyard. BioTrek is on the move again, after being at the dock at Charlestown marina in Boston since April. After a fast sail from Boston to Buzzard’s Bay, we stop at Kingman marina, and we dare to eat at a restaurant, and then anchor near Bassett Island. The Yanmar mechanic at Kingman may have finally helped us solve the last of our engine problems – to be shown on a future video. The next morning, we leave for the passage at Wood’s Hole, timing it for slack tide. The passage is well known for fast currents through a narrow rocky channel and tightly spaced channel markers. Once out of the passage, we pause to let our friends on Sv Balu charge ahead, and then, we unroll our genoa and wave good-by as we head to Martha’s Vineyard to find an anchorage. We catch up with Ivan (pronounced the Spanish way) and Lauren for lunch. The harbor was really windy, and they calmly explain some trouble they had earlier upon their arrival, and also chat about their cruising goals. It is an interesting conversation for anyone with a sailing dream. The next day SV Balu leaves for Nantucket, and with our drone we watch them sail away. WHAT AN EVENTFUL WEEK! - we got our long awaited new tender and outboard motor and Father’s Day rolled around. We celebrated Robins first Fathers Day on the water and how else would we Zastron’s do that - but with a spectacular cake from Teagan. We took the day a little easier than usual although some work was done too. With regards to our tender We had been torn - budget constraints had us thinking we needed to save a bit and try to find a good second hand tender and motor but after chatting to a lot of people and thinking long and hard - we decided to bite the bullet and go with new. A tender on a boat really equates to having a reliable vehicle to land lubbers. The tender becomes your car to get to and from land when you plan on living at anchor the way we do. So we decided to splurge and Mark Mudley and his ‘Watercraft’ ducks came very highly recommended. We visited his factory, were given a tour and a great price for a basic 3.1m rubber duck. What we got in the end was so much more than we could ever have hoped for. Mark went all out - adding so many special touches for us from scuff pads, lovely seat on the anchor hatch, larger pontoons than initially ordered, scuppers on the rear, extra pressure valves and more - all at no extra charge - yet again we have been truly blessed. We are so chuffed with her and now need to come up with a nice name for her. Chris also managed to organize a great discount on our brand new Suzuki 15hP 2 stroke motor - all in all she’s a really beautiful addition to Saiorse! To top the day off we have another dinghy themed cake and then a sunset trip out into the lagoon for a champagne toast to Mark. A huge thank you to Mark - Watercraft for the customizing - it is hugely appreciated and we would highly recommend that if you are looking for a dinghy - give Mark a call. His details will be below. We have another storm come through that resulted in huge surge within the marina and a broken dock. These storms are now a weekly occurrence and we are expecting a couple more in the coming week. As time draws closer to leave Mykonos - get our living at anchor and testing our systems - we are ramping up the work schedule again. Die Fahrt von Naabi Hill (Tor zur Serengeti) zum Ngorongoro-Kraterrand ist für mich die aller-allerschönste Strecke, die man auf diesem Planeten fahren kann. Zuerst geht es durch die Naabi Plains, die endlosen Ebenen, die der Seregenti (SIRINGIT = weites Land) ihren Namen gaben, bis hinter der Olduvai-Schlucht das gewaltige, immergrüne Massiv des Ngorongoro in den Fokus rückt. Auf über 2200 Meter wird die Luft am Kraterrand etwas dünne, aber gleichzeitig frisch und klar, und der Blick hinein in den Krater mit seinen 20.000 wilden Tieren ist sowieso mit Geld nicht zu bezahlen...
