A Panama Canal crossing with your own sailboat – what can be more exciting than that? After hard preparation circumstances due to the set-in rainy season, an indimidating crocodile, nasty termites (ahh! We have a wooden superstructure!) distracting us in the marina and troubles clearing out of Panama, we finally pass the 51nm (82km) long man-made canal and Gatun Lake in one day being raised and lowered 27m from Atlantic to Pacific sea level along with huge cargo ships in three sets of locks.
