In this episode, Erich and Sherri join as crew for a circumnavigation around Catalina Island. We start our first leg from San Pedro to Avalon. This is the first trip for Keeldragger V to Avalon (on this boat). We depart the next day around the back side of Catalina to Catalina Harbor. Along the way, we have a sighting of Risso's Dolphins! After spending the night in Cat Harbor, we motor around the Northwest end of the island to return to San Pedro. Visibility is excellent and we can see both San Clemente and Santa Barbara Islands as well as some visibile rain in the distance. This is a bit of an experiment on our channel. So Slow-TV has started to become popular across the globe. What is Slow TV? The idea is to capture an experience from a point of view over a long time span. Basically it's real life footage of what's happening without any script etc. So in this Slow TV episode you will see Dream at anchor, just as if you were sat aboard. Relive the sights and sounds of Dream at anchor in Elounda, Crete. You can use this video as a white noise video or just have it playing as a background video to take you to another place and escape the usual day to day grind. Boat life is not all sunshine, rainbows and endless beaches. During rainy season in the Caribbean, it often gets.. well, rainy! We show what it's really like to live aboard a sailboat full time - even on the stormy days! It differs a lot from being back on land where we mostly hibernated inside and played games for most of the day. Knowing that we can move our home, we decided to change anchorages before the rain hit. We had a bit of an unusual and hilarious anchor retrieval and then headed on our way to Morne Rouge, a bay to the south of us. The delay in hauling anchor meant that we got hit half way by a torrential downpour but laughing our way through and getting a free shower, we finally got to anchor. A quick breakfast and an episode upload later and we ran out on deck collecting water and fill up our tanks. We often forget how simple life is or needs to be when you live on a sailboat... especially when at the end of the day you jump for joy when you realize you can have a long and HOT shower - the first in a long time! Episode #160 : Sailing Dreams : OFF WITH THE STEP Hello Friends, We continue our mini-series this week that finds us up in Seattle helping our friend & Patron Tim get his 1981 Panda 40 "SV DECATUR" into sailing condition. On this weeks episode I start cutting the mast step out as soon as the mast has been pulled and we get back to our temporary slip in Shilshole Bay Marina. After removing the mast shoe and seeing lags and the impression I came to the conclusion that the water intrusion likely happened through the lag bolt holes as water collected in the mast and had no where to go do to the clogged step drain. On the new mast step we will be over drilling the lag holes and filling it with an epoxy sleeve to prevent this from happening again in the future. And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. We have hinted at needing to be north of Cape Hatteras a few times but haven't properly explained why. Our boat insurance agreement stipulates that we have to be north of Cape Hatteras for Hurricane Season. Since we boat the boat in Fort Lauderdale during Hurricane Season we were able to negotiate an extension to give us time to get north. That time is just about up so it's time to get moving and get the boat just a bit farther north. And low and behold, our port engine started giving us trouble the very next morning and I decided to try to repair it myself. This was an amazing experience…easily one of the BEST we have every had! We were invited by our friend’s Ted and Gail to join them for a long weekend at their home in Eleuthera, Bahamas. They had not been able to visit in over 6 months due to Covid and this was their first opportunity! Captain Ted would be flying us in his 1983 Beechcraft Bonanza B36! Of course, we said yes!! After waiting for ideal weather conditions, we have a short sail from Orpheus Island to Hinchinbrook Island where we stop overnight at Zoe Bay. After a short walk through the lush tropical rain forest, we come to the stunning Zoe Waterfalls which plummet into a deep blue tropical rainforest lined swimming hole. Taking the trail to the top of the falls we take in the incredible views over the bay, and take a soothing dip in the infinity pools at the edge of the falls. Back on the beach the boys gather a couple of coconuts to use when cooking the remaining prawns.
