Come along on a POV journey to single-handedly sail Soulianis off anchor. Since the engine wasn’t started, Kirk forgot to check on the dinghy painter—and it all goes downhill from there. Normally we have our specific roles and routines; but the change of pace and lack of a second pair of eyes on the boat makes it easy get thrown off, and then things start to slip through the cracks. We quickly learn just how important it is to practice mixing up routines on board to avoid complacency, so when we do end up in a real dire situation, we can adapt quickly and efficiently. We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought is sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive and we need to lift it onto the dry ASAP to fix what is needed and start our refit. In this episode we are preparing our boat for a long trip heading south! After having the hull evaluated, we decided we could carry on with our initial plan of traveling to do the full restoration while at home. Follow us as we check off our TO-DO list. We explored the wreck of MV Hema, a cargo ship sunk in 100’ of water off of the south side of Grenada. We headed to Shark Reef for a lionfish hunt after the wreck dive. Lionfish are an invasive species which harm the local reef. We dove with Bradley and Eveline from ScubaTech in Grenada. Also making an appearance is our friend Mark from SV Mana.
