We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought is sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive and we need to lift it onto the dry ASAP to fix what is needed and start our refit. In this episode Yabá is being lifted at her new location! We made it home and now we can really start giving Yabá the treatment she deserves!! Now our refurbishing journey will finally start to unfold as we find out what needs to be done, what can be saved and whatever else we want to create on this crazy but beloved project of ours. After thousands of sailing miles, we finally get to experience crystal clear water and the beaches of the Bahamas. We get hot exploring Eleuthera and then cool off by getting wet & salty at the Queen's Bath and Glass Window. Track us on our website! http://www.sweetruca.com Join our crew on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/ruca Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! @rucasailing http://www.facebook.com/rucasailing http://www.instagram.com/rucasailing The Queens Baths or the Hot Tubs are located 0.6 miles south of the Glass window Bridge on the rugged Atlantic side of the island. These natural pools (carved by centuries of waves pounding the rock) are filled with dramatic crashing waves, shells, and small sea life that wash over from the Atlantic Ocean. Once settled, this crystal clear water is warmed by the sun, creating a bath like a temperature tidal pool that's perfect for soaking. The best time to visit the hot tubs is during low or medium tide. When visiting, it is best to wear water or tennis shoes. One of nature's true wonders, The Glass Window Bridge will certainly leave you breathless as you drink in the magnificent panoramic view. It is one of the few places on earth where you can compare the rich blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on one side of the road and the calm Bight of Eleuthera (often incorrectly called the Caribbean Sea) on the other side, separated by a strip of rock just 30 feet wide. #vlog #travel #sailing #bahamas #salty #sailing #sailinglife #sail #sea #boat #yacht #sailboat About Us: So who are we? We are Kate and Curtis, a YouTube sailing couple and travel vloggers, with our sailing rescue dog Roxy, aboard SV Sweet Ruca, a J-Boats J/46 monohull. We used to be sailboat racers on the great lakes (we still are...kind of). We bought a sailboat, re-fit it, with a goal to sail around the world, doublehanded, via the capes (Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope). Some say this is the wrong way or the hard way. To us, the challenge is part of the journey. We will see if this will happen or not, as the "new normal" has put quite a damper on our travels. For now, we are holed up in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean making videos and scuba diving. We are not Sailing La Vagabonde, Expedition Evans, Sailing Doodles, Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing, Gone With the Wynns, or SV Delos. We aren't Vendee Globe Race or Volvo Ocean Race sailors, although sometimes Curtis wishes he was one. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we do have a pretty and fast monohull sailboat. Cruising catamarans like the Fountaine Pajot's, Leopards, and Lagoons can't keep up, but we still like them ;-) We hope you enjoy our videos and vlogs and join us on our journey via our YouTube Channel. 'Till Next Time :-)

What was supposed to be a simple job of going up the mast to swap out the radar dome turned into a full-blown wildlife rescue and rehabilitation mission. Turns out, you never know what you’re going to find up there. WHO ARE WE? We’re Jason and Nikki Wynn. We been living #OffTheGrid and exploring the world for 10 years. Our first six years of travel were an epic road trip around North America. Now we’re on a sailing voyage about the world. Did we have any previous sailing experience, of course not! Neither of us is overly talented, smart, rich, lucky, or retired. But that doesn’t stop us from reaching far-flung destinations, having wild adventures and managing everything that makes living aboard a moving vessel possible. We’re two ordinary people that just so happen to live an extraordinary life. And this is why we publish our lives on the world wide web. We share in hopes of inspiring you to find your adventure. After a short stint working on a Superyacht, I start to make the journey back to Panama, which unfortunately was still in lockdown! So I fly to Florida where Martina meets me, and we start to figure out a way to go back to Parlay. As the airports are closed, it looks like sailing may be the only option... CASTING OFF on our Fountaine Pajot Catamaran [Part 2] and a little sea sickness // Sailing Vlog Ep41
Hi Guys! Welcome to our Sailing Vlog - Sailing Coco! After 6 years of renovating boats, we sailed our 33ft Colvic Countess around the Med. Last year we left London for good and bought a Fountaine Pajot Catamaran! We're excited to share our adventures with you and please click the Subscribe Button and Bell if you would like to be notified when we post our latest video! Stay Safe! Alfie & Ceylan Follow us on Instagram for real-time updates www.instagram.comsailing/coco Give us a like on Facebook :) www.facebook.com/sailcoco Lots of Love x On this episode, we recap on what we've been up to since leaving our last boat in Athens! As the Covid Pandemic hit the UK we were tasked with a number of jobs and challenges: - We moved out of our house and in with Alf's family in order to keep safe - Tackled the delays and logistics of receiving our new boat - Quit Alfie's job - Renovated our photography studio whilst being closed during lockdown - Prepared our house for renting - Cancelled all plans for Alfie's 30th Birthday - Moved our whole lives onto our new boat - Test sailed our Lucia 40 Catamaran - Prepared the boat for full time living - Sold our Old Boat on eBay to some guys in Albania who we still haven't met yet! - Moved our wedding because of Covid rules :'( - and lastly celebrated Ceylan also turning 30!! ...and then set sail non stop to the Med!!!! This week you'll see us wrap things up in the UK before casting off and sailing through the Solent, English Channel and Bay of Biscay! It was an emotional one that has a lot of crying coming from Cey ...and a little sea sickness from her too! Luckily we didn't film her actually being sick as it may have made the vlog and it wasn't a pretty sight to see 🙈 THANKFULLY the sun came out and the seas calmed down by day 4 so we got to celebrate her 30th Birthday in style - sailing across the middle of the Bay of Biscay!

Latest episode of Physics of Docking - Tying to a Cleat with a Man Overboard (MOB) review. For additional details pertinent to this video please read the description below. Thank you for taking the time to watch this video. We hope you have enjoyed the entire Physics of Docking series as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. Docking is a skill every boater needs to become comfortable with, it sets the tone for the trip when you depart and stays in your thoughts long after you have landed. The positioning skills we have reviewed should make your close quartering maneuvering more effective. Once you arrive, it is important to secure your vessel by tying the lines to the cleats on the docks. There are many opinions on what lines should be deployed and in what order. Most trawler owners like to get the closest spring line on first – midship running aft, which, when secured automatically pulls your hull alongside the dock as you move forward. With one line attached you can complete the tying process by securing the other lines necessary. Cleats are the land anchor that allow you to tie up and rest assured -whether you are remaining on board or intend to leave your vessel unattended. Knowing that your lines are tied up properly provides peace of mind. Like parking your car on a hill and knowing you should turn your front tires so if you roll back, they will rest against the curb and buttoning it up by setting your parking brake. It is important to tie up with a plan that is simple and consistent. Tying each line in the same manner will also make it easier to untie when you depart. Some people like to do a complete wrap around the cleat first, before crossing. Some feel that one “lock” is all you need to snug down. The method Douglas uses is proven with double cross overs two locks to the cleat. We also stress the importance of thinking about a safe departure by planning to have the last line to undo looped around the cleat so it can be flipped off from onboard. As a bonus, we have included a discussion between Jeff and Douglas on Man Over Board preparation, sharing some ideas on how you can practice this on your own boat by turning it into an exercise to practice and improve. When you have an emergency, and a MOB is about the biggest emergency you can have, blast the horn five times and toss the floatation device into the water. It is imperative that you have the presence of mind to keep direct eye contact on the swimmer so you know where to recover them. Rehearse how you find your way back. Your wake as the best clue to return to the path you were running. Swift retrieval and recovery is critical. The person in the water is likely in shock, mostly incapacitated and helpless. You should have a game plan on how you can increase their floatation support and lift this water drenched person safely back on board. The Lifesling products are now very common, but just having the device is not good enough, you also need a block and tackle means that will give you the purchase necessary to do some heavy lifting in a safe and stable manner. You can avoid getting into this life-threatening predicament by requiring every person who goes out on deck to wear an inflatable vest or life jacket. Insist that no one goes out alone without letting another person know. The “insider” must watch the “outsider’s” movements and be there to welcome them back inside. Another tip: Don’t “go” by hanging over the side. It’s cleaner and safer to relieve yourself by sitting on the toilet. Getting back to a more pleasant topic, if you look closely, you will see a special visitor who photo- bombed our production with an impromptu guest appearance – can you find this segment? Thank you for your time, your comments and your thumbs up. This has been educational for us from the production side and we’d like to close by once again thanking you for watching and thanking all of those folks who have been involved in this production. #PhysicsofDocking #JMYS #Nordhavn #Trawler For more information please visit: http://jmys.com Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jeffmerrillyachtsales/?fref=nf Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/merrillyachts Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmystrawlers/ Get in touch with Jeff via Email: Jeff@JMYS.com or Cell: +1 949.355.4950 Music: This Uplifting Music - Original_Soundtrack - Audiojungle.net

2016-19 I sailed around the world with around 250 women as my paying crew. This video is about how the idea came up, the preparations of my boat and myself for the circumnavigation. It is very unusual with a woman who has skippered a boat around the world, and I hope to inspire and encourage other sailing women to sail away towards their dreams. My boat an Oceanis 473 Clipper, that I bought 2013. It had been in charter, and needed a lot of upgrading. Obrigado...
In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we take her out for a full test after rebuilding the engine and we announce our plans for Christmas and New Year. When Aannsha and I watched the finished edit of this episode, which includes the announcement of our four week break from weekly uploads, we both had the same feeling that it was a fitting end to a year of episodes where we have come full circle in relation to engine work. From removing our rusted through exhaust elbow in Greece in the winter of 2019 and all of the follow on jobs that created, to finally testing our rebuilt engine with a new turbo here in Turkey for the winter of 2020. It's been an amazing year and it has been our privilege to document the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the stress and elation and to share it with you, our Patreon family, our subscribers and our viewers. We wish you all the very best Christmas, a happy New Year and a strong hope and belief that 2021 will be a time for getting all of our lives back to normal. Aug 2017: Mein 2.

This week we finish up the prep work on the boat getting her ready to be taken from New Orleans to SW Florida. I had mentioned before that we hired a crew to take the boat across for us and the first of the crew arrived 2 days before the planned departure. The Captain was so thorough in all of the inspection, checking and making sure everything was ready to go. He even got the bow thruster working which for some reason decided to stop working at some point while we were there on the boat. With provisions ready, packed away and the crew all there, they set sail early Tuesday morning. Today I'm in Skive and I visit Athena from the YouTube channel Sail life. Mads has done a very nice job and the boat looks like new in real life. Then I talk about what boat I plan to buy, maybe in the fall of 2021. You can get the Bavaria boats in the J&J Design at a affordable price but I think a bit about to get the more newer Farr Design which means a boat from 2010 and forward. Bavaria 40 approximately market price (2020) : Bavaria 40 from 2005 : 83000 USD - model with one steering wheel (J&J design) Bavaria 40 cruiser from 2008 : 100000 USD - 2x steering wheels, small bathing platform (J&J design) Bavaria 40 cruiser from 2011-2013 : 116000 USD - 2x wheels, big bath platform, small portlights Bavaria 41 cruiser from 2014-2018 : 167000 USD - 2x wheels, big bath platform, big windows Bavaria 41 cruiser from 2019-2021 : 233000 USD - 2x wheels, big bath platform, big windows

I sailed 500 NM from Craig, AK to Vancouver BC Canada in 2020. The entire trip was done in 3 legs.
