Lester Johnson introduced the idea of a youth regatta on Biscayne Bay in Miami through the established name of the Orange Bowl Regatta in 1978. The purpose of the youth regatta was to organize a youth sporting event during a time when families were looking for a fun pastime during their winter break. The Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta has continued that tradition through today for the last 42 years. The regatta has grown from 450 youth sailors in 2002 to over 600 today. In the past five years, the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta has reached higher international proportions, attracting competitors from 25 countries and from 29 states in the U.S. This is the largest youth sailing event in North or South America and the second largest event of its kind in the world. TMG Yachts has once again taken the top gong at the annual Lagoon catamaran dealer awards being named the 2020 worlds best brand ambassador for an unprecedented 4th year in a row. Round Robin 1 & 2 of the Prada Cup had delivered an explosive start on the road to the America’s Cup. At the end of the opening stages, one team was up, another down and one in the middle. All three were doubtless left wondering what had happened to the form guide that had been established just before Christmas, as well as considering what the temporary loss of a team meant for the racing going forwards. WE continue to enjoy being back at sea and sailing our boat from port to port along Mexico's lovely Baja peninsula and throughout the Sea of Cortez. This area is rich in sea life and also has a few very special little towns that we explore. We visit the towns of Santa Rosalia and Mulege and then off to some isolated islands. In this video, BuzzFeed producer Erin Phraner shares her trick for making sure your apple crisp doesn’t have a watery filling. The secret? Ketchup! This Ketchup Crisp is a fun, unexpected dessert that is absolutely delicious—you’d never know there was ketchup in there. Talk about a recipe hack! KETCHUP CRISP For the filling…. 10 cups peeled & sliced apples (about 5 lbs) 1 cup granulated sugar 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup ketchup 1/4 cup lemon juice For the topping… 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup granulated sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup brown sugar 16 tablespoons (2 sticks) cold butter, cut into pieces 1 cup old-fashioned oats 1. Preheat the oven to 350˚F. 2. Toss the apples, sugar, flour and cinnamon in a 9x13 baking dish. In a small bowl, stir together the ketchup and lemon juice. Drizzle over the apples and toss again; set aside. 3. In a bowl, work the flour, granulated sugar, salt, brown sugar and butter between with your fingers until combined and in pieces. Add the oats and work between your fingers again to create your crumbs. 4. Sprinkle the crumbs over the apples and bake 45-60 minutes until bubbly and golden. (If your oven runs hot, like mine, and the crumbs brown too quickly…you can cover with foil about halfway through). Let cool slightly then serve with vanilla ice cream. Here is an impromptu tour of our messy, but beautiful, saloon, showing the main features. You’ll hear me rattling on about how good the view is from the saloon. Imagine spending winter somewhere where it rains a lot and it’s almost always windy and that you don’t have this wonderful view of the outside world. Carolyn and I have enjoyed this view enormously. It’s just as good out sailing, where it is a huge factor in avoiding the feeling of seasickness. Please let us know in comments if there’s details you’d like to see. Regards from Rick and Carolyn.

A feature of the Garcia Exploration 45 design that got a big tick from us during our evaluation is the pair of full-height water-tight bulkheads. One is in the bow, between the large sail locker and the forward cabin. The other is at the stern and separates the two aft compartments from the steering gear compartment. Access to the steering gear is available on both sides of this aft bulkhead through waterproof hatches.

We did some sailing this summer and always came back to Medemblik. We will show you a little bit around in this nice old city in the Netherlands.
