8 janvier, actes criminels factuels et réels bruits d’insécurités courent en Afrique du Sud, sans cesse, nous revient aux oreilles une dramatique situation de ce pays où, pas une seule fois, nous nous sommes sentis en danger ! Encore ce matin dans le Uber qui devait nous conduire à la gare de train de Fish Hoek, le taxi driver, vraiment pas rassurant, nous a dissuadé de nous déplacer par voie ferrée ! En restant toutefois septiques, nous nous sommes laissés influencer par l’opportuniste voiturier qui nous a mené jusqu’à Cape Town. Dominée par la montagne de la table, la capitale provinciale du Cap-Occidental, sous la luminosité d’un ciel pur de bleuté, est presque désertée ! Le lock down trois y est forcément pour quelque chose ! Que ce soit dans les rues aux maisons victoriennes ou au Waterfront, les touristes sont peu nombreux et pour les voyageurs que nous sommes, la circonstance à un côté plutôt plaisant ! La cité-mère dite grouillante, vit au rythme du monde actuel, au ralenti, presque figée, comme toutes les statues et sculptures qui la jalonnent. Mais la mégapole aujourd’hui à un petit plus, elle accueille Hugo Boss, le septième Imoca du nom ! Le Vendée Globe vient de passer ! Une avarie a eu raison de la course du superbe soixante pieds d’Alex Thomson ! Nos journées se suivent et ne se ressemblent pas, et en ce samedi, c’est à vélo que nous allons franchir le Cap de Bonne Esperance ! Plus de quarante kilomètres aller-retour avec, beaucoup, beaucoup de montées et sans batterie à l’aller pour le challenge ! La beauté du site vaut bien l’effort, bon, j’avoue, au retour, je vais bien être aidée par mon super Tchoupi ! 11 janvier, nous sommes enfin fixés pour nos moteurs. Le mécanicien que nous avons trouvé ici, après moult recherches vient de nous dégotter deux Sail Drives neufs qui arrivent tout juste d’Europe. Encore sous douanes, nous devrions pouvoir les avoir hors taxes et sous une quinzaine….

Sunday evening on New Zealand's Hauraki Gulf, with live footage streaming to anxious sailing fans around the globe, American Magic sailors and support crew fought a desperate battle to save PATRIOT, the AC75 the 150-person team spent years designing, building, sailing and refining. On her 44th day of sailing, and her third day of racing in the Prada Cup, PATRIOT sustained major mid-race damage to the port side of the hull and was in real danger of slipping beneath the waves. Moments earlier, the sleek, blue-hulled AC75 was winning her race against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli with room and style to spare.
