This episode was filmed in 12 / 2020. — Welcome to Untie The Lines! my name is Nike, I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean. In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America. In this Episode, Paul and I leave our own sailboats behind and hop onto Maria’s boat Joana to sail to Vista Mar marina on the Panamanian mainland. The voyage from the Las Perlas islands is about 60nm and we enjoy a beautiful sail on the 72 foot gaff rugged steel yawl Joana. The reason for all of this is to pick up a food order that was supposed to be delivered by a ferry to our sailboats but got denied. We actually also wanted to pick up a shipment from the states at the same time, but because the cargo ship was delayed, we headed over to the anchorage in Punta Chame to wait for its arrival. Maintaining a 40-year-old sailboat can be mentally draining. To be successful, not only do you need be a good electrician, diesel mechanic, plumber, seamstress, cook, project manager and sailor, it also doesn’t hurt to be a good bartender. We tackle a pile of projects in the episode, including reinstalling the chainplates, recoring a part the deck, creating a mold of the nonskid, rerigging our forestay and sewing a canvas extension panel between the bimini and dodger. This week we are doing a bottom job! We used Magic Antifoul barrier and hull coating and also used their prop coating, Triton Prop, for the props, sail drives and underwater lights. We made our own mounts for the underwater lights out of fiberglass and used foam board as the mould. We also serviced our SD60 sail drives, if you would like to see a more in depth tutorial on how to service a sail drive, we will be uploading a video to our Patreon page in the near future. По просьбе друзей записал видео по приготовлению паэльи из курицы и морепродуктов. На самом деле, вовсе необязательно использовать именно те продукты, которые использовал я. Паэлья блюдо крестьянское и может готовиться из всего, что есть под рукой. Однако мне особенно нравится классическое сочетание мяса и морепродуктов с овощами и круглым рисом. 🙂 Ps. Забыл рассказать, что все морепродукты были замороженные. Не забывайте их просушивать на бумажном полотенце после разморозки. Я использую испанский рис Bomba и знаю, чего он него ожидать. А вот если вы в рисе не уверены, то лучше его промыть. Выпивать при готовке нужно испанское красное вино. Но если вы на борту яхты, то лучше сразу ромом, чего уж себя обманывать. 🙂
