Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Canon R50 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Action scenes and small blogging is done with an Insta 360 Ace2. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also use an Insta 360 and have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over several days. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. We're blasting across the Monterey Bay in Spinnaker Cup 2025, and after dipping out bow dude into the water by plowing the boat into the backside of a wave, we start to surf and hit out boat's speed record: just over 18 knots. Check out the full video to see all the fast sailing we did that day, averaging about 13-14 knots across the Monterey Bay portion of the race with a top wind speed of about 35 knots, all with a big A2.5 masthead spinnaker up.

A lot of people are struggling to keep a steady course and that’s because they rely too much to the instruments. This is not wrong but it is a little bit advanced method and for the beginners it will help a lot to focus to the outside world, so our senses will understand the direction of the boat by correlating the elements of the nature around us. Chris Beeson sails the Hanse 460. The relationship between Hanse Yachts and La Rochelle-based design house Berret-Racoupeau started with a bang when their first launch of an entire new range, the 460, won the family cruiser category in the 2022 European yacht of the Year awards. Three years on, Chris Beeson thinks the exterior design still looks fresh and dynamic, and there are some delightful design touches down below, with hull ports, plenty of opening hatches and recessed mood lighting in the bright saloon, and contrasting coloured panels adding depth to the cabins. Sailing this model is a cinch with optional electric winches right next to the helm stations and an electric furler for the optional second forestay’s 145% genoa. With the main traveller positioned on the coachroof and sail controls at the wheels, the very spacious cockpit remains line-free, perfect for relaxed family fun. JUNGLEFEVER is a very well maintained and significantly updated and upgraded example of what was Hanse’s flagship in 2010. Designed by Judel/Vrolijk as a fast and very spacious family cruising yacht, she excels in her design brief. A spacious owner's suite lies forward, two excellent guest suites aft, a huge saloon and cockpit under which is a garage for her tender. This particular example has been in private ownership since new and never chartered. Much of her life was under the care of a full-time skipper. Her current owner purchased her in 2025 but has found he simply doesn’t have the time she deserves. He further improved the yacht’s ease of handling by adding a stern thruster, she already had in-boom furling which was fitted in 2016. The standing rigging was replaced in August 2025 and the mainsail is from 2023. Her decks were replaced in 2022 when Raymarine Axiom electronics were also fitted along with new hi-end audio equipment. Her hull was painted in light grey and is in excellent condition. The inventory is very comprehensive in-boom furling, retractable thrusters, full a/c, a hydraulic gangway and water-maker all make life aboard luxurious and comfortable. Viewings are unreservedly recommended. Wie hat sich das Coppercoat geschlagen? Oder muss es gar erneuert werden? Neben den gängigen Check ups müssen die vier Motorlager gewechselt werden, das Wellenlager ist schwergängig und die Stopfbuchse muss ebenfalls ausgetauscht werden. Die Reserveteile habe ich alle im Vorfeld besorgt, um unnötige Lieferzeiten zu vermeiden. Mal schauen, ob es dabei bleibt.
