For our last sail of the season, we couldn't have asked for better conditions. We sail back to San Carlos, where we started our season 3 and had just about the same exact conditions now as we did then. Screaming across the sea with winds on the beam we thoroughly enjoyed our trip back across before hauling out and preparing the boat for a few months out of the water. There are many benefits of a catamaran but being wide and fat is not one of them especially when we are trying to haul out the boat. During Ragdoll's delivery to Scotland, the exhaust was flooding the boat and it was ripped out as soon as she arrived in Scotland. Now, the fun job of trying to wrestle the new exhaust hose back into place is here. Our engine has sat in the boatyard, in many pieces for over 8 months. Through our time in the boatyard we have found many leaks, some downright dangerous, so we replaced A LOT of hoses amongst other things... This week we are finally putting our engine back together and will attempt to start it for the first time in over 8 months. IF all goes well, we will be ready to launch Ragdoll for the first time, NEXT WEEK! It was a busy, exciting and slightly nerve wracking week in the boatyard for us! Finally getting to where we are making headway on our sailboat restoration with our interior projects on Reverie. So a while back I purchased a B&G Package that included 2 Triton 2 Displays, a WS320 Wireless system for our Wind Indicator, a 3 in 1 transducer (Speed, Depth Temperature) and the NMEA2000 installation kit which included wire and terminators. I was hoping to have everything installed before we went to the yard, but you know what they say about best laid plans. So here I will show you how we install the system on Reverie and how we wire the components. It’s day one and we head to the public jetty to fill Nutshell with water and give her a final wash-down before heading off on our sail to the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a shakedown cruise for us to make sure that Nutty is safe and ready for our imminent sail north. We stop at Hook Island and have a little poke around the beach and then sail over to Langford Island and Langford Reef. It’s a beautiful location and there’s a lovely walk up to the lookout. Australasian farmers and food suppliers are among thousands of local businesses hit by the ongoing suspension of cruise operations, with losses to the Australian economy now surpassing $5 billion over the past year. The video features national wholesaler Select Fresh Providores, one of Australia’s key suppliers of fresh fruit and vegetables to cruise lines. In it, the company’s Group General Manager Steven Biviano explains the huge effect the suspension has had, not only on his own business but also on farmers and regional communities. In peak season up to 50% of Select Providores' business was generated by cruising, and that farmers and other producers needed time to plan crops for cruising’s return. The health protocols cruise lines have developed in response to COVID-19 are among the most stringent in the world and are already operating successfully in several other countries. We drove to meet him to get a part, which we then installed and prayed that it would work. Success! All is good. We get a lot of questions on diagnosis. We were in contact with a refrigeration professional who diagnosed the control unit from what we told him. Our symptoms were similar and we also determined the compressor would click to come on but never start. You can hear the compressor and feel the vibration if it is running. If you don’t feel it, it may be the controller. Our specialist said the controller is very often the culprit and suggested we buy a spare. It worked for us and we have a spare.
