After our failed attempt to enjoy the Isles of Scilly in a previous episode undeterred we sail our boat back in improved weather and start to show you the true beauty of this archipelago of islands in the Atlantic, just a few miles off the U.K. coast. We set off before dawn to round the infamous headland of The Lizard and begin sailing further west than we’ve been before and find ourselves in a race with another sailboat and confused as to how he’s making such ground - it turns out however that someone is cheating! We arrive after a great sail and spend the night at anchor but awake to thick fog. In order to make our way to our next anchorage we have to pick our way through shallow water littered with rocks using our chart plotter and radar. We finally make it to the stunning anchorage of St Helen’s Pool and begin to relax. An old Inn in the north pacific coastal Quadra Island is haunted by the ghost of a prospector brutally murdered for his gold claim in 1895. His body was never found. Over the years to this day, not a few guests waited for checkout time after reporting having seen the apparition of this tragic old timer. Sadly wandering about the back stairs and sometimes seen seated in the corner of the bar room after closing the prospector waits. In this video the ghost...and we visit his (believed) old gold claim creek to see if we can come up with a nugget or two ourselves.

We leave Talbot Bay to cross the fierce currents of Collier Bay to reach Raft Point. After a few days enjoying Ruby and Little Ruby falls we set out in the early hours of the morning to sail to Sampson Inlet with its beautiful waterway at its end. A few days later we move on to Camden Harbour with the ruins and graves of the ill fated attempt at settlement in 1840. The sad story and thinking of the hardships the settlers experienced was certainly a thought provoking and sobering experience about the harshness of the country we are sailing through.
