Die Tour auf den Ryten (543 m) mit Blick hinab auf den Kvalvika Beach gehört zu einer der Schönsten der Lofoten. Über Stock und Stein Wegweiser zum Ryten. Wir starteten die Tour am Parkplatz zum Ryten/Kvalvika Wanderweg an einem Hof, etwas außerhalb von Fredvang. Dort geht es zunächst auf verschiedenen Holzstegen über ein kleines Moor und dann über einen Single Trail zu einer Hochebene. Hoch oben auf dem windigen Gipfel sehen manche Berge und Buchten aus, als wäre man auf Kauai. Die Felsen mit herrlichem grün überzogen und dazu verschiedene Blautöne des Meeres. Hello and welcome back to Mallorca! In this video, we take a hike up in the Tramuntana hills, a nice break from the blue sea views we're used to. We stop at the small hillside village of Fornalutx and end up in Soller. We find a great spot for some yoga on land and even better is that we find a way to have a supply of pancakes for years to come. We take a 'sailor's walk' and try out a new sport on the paddle boards. Lars goes up the mast to replace our anchor light, and to Alex's joy she winches him up. We replaced the 30 year old couch in our boat. Because the doorways on the boat are smaller that normal, we had to disassemble and cut up the old couch to dispose of it. We also had to replace it with furniture that could be brought on the boat easily and assembled inside the boat. We looked at rv and boat specific furniture, but ended up buying from a "conventional" furniture company. We bought a great modular system that has proven to be very comfortable. It will also be very easy to disassemble should the need arise. Just another day in boat and van life and small space living!

Episode 3: After an engine refit, fridge, freezer install, and a few other major upgrades it was time to grab the supplies we needed and say so long to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. We set our sights to the East, cast off our lines, and set sail for the Bahamas, to pick up the mast Mike had left behind.

Season 7 Episode 4 Every boat owner's worst nightmare is their boat sinking. Seacocks and through-hulls can corrode without your knowledge and risk breaking when out at sea. In today's video, we inspect our seacocks and through-hulls only to find that the through-hulls have fully corroded. We used a custom tool that we had made in order to remove all 7 of our through-hulls without damaging our hull. We then measured them with a digital calliper, cleaned and lubricated them with Marine Lubricant XCP. New Groco through hulls have been ordered and we hope to get this sailboat launched soon. In this episode we cross the Bay of Biscay from Camaret sur Mer, France to A Coruña, Spain. It is our longest offshore, open water crossing to date. 366 nm. It took us nearly 3 full days and nights. The Bay of Biscay is notorious for strong winds, big seas and harsh weather. I guess it went on summer holiday when we got there because, there was little to no wind and the seas were not harsh. Better than the alternative but, we motored more than we sailed. All in all it was a pleasant experience but, we would have preferred to sail. We arrived in A Coruña in the dark and had the anchor set at 6AM. Rewarded with a well deserved anchor beer/wine. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. Music by Troy and Paula Haag Hope you enjoy it. This is a glimpse of some of the final upgrades to our wooden Ingrid ketch for bluewater cruising. Bronze stanchions and a pulpit for solar panels, installing a custom refrigerator, galley upgrades, a chain locker, and more. Julia is an Ingrid Ketch, designed by William Atkin and built in 1960. She is a traditional wooden boat, built of doug fir planking on oak frames. The length on deck is 37.5 ft and the waterline is 30 ft.

Almost three years ago we bought a Sailrite LSZ-1 Ultrafeed Walking Foot sewing machine. We felt that we needed a machine for safety in case we had to sew sails in remote locations and especially as we were planning a Pacific Ocean crossing. We did research to find a portable sewing machine that could run without power and came across this machine and bought the blue straight stitch and zig-zag version. We have made many things with our Sailrite machine including saloon cushions, cockpit cushions, a wind hatch scoop, curtains, cushion covers, various covers for the boat shiny bits and much more. In this video we have a flashback to when we bought the machine in 2018 and set it up and did a few projects. Then we talk about our first thoughts. Following are Wendy's and Magnus’ views on the machine after using it for almost three years. Boat projects and sailing in the SAME video? Wild. We know! Eight days and a lot of sanding later we had a stronger and freshly painted boat that dawned a new name ready to sail in the Annual High Sierra Regatta on our home waters: Huntington Lake, CA. We continue exploring the Grenadian Grenadines and sail our monohull sailboat up to the northern end of Carriacou in Grenada to anchor in front of a beautiful remote beach with its own beach bar and restaurant. We indulge in delicious local fare after snorkelling some cool underwater arches. Then we go on a nature hike with our buddy boat friends and see wild tortoises and a spectacular view of the Atlantic.
