Sailing up to Egg Harbor for Labor Day weekend in some challenging wind conditions. Westerly winds steady 17 to 20 knots on the way up. Westerly winds gusting to 28 on the return trip. This would turn out to be our last extended weekend cruise on BOOMERANG III. We were not ready to sit on the porch in our rocking chairs just yet & we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV to test out how the family would manage without us. Of course they managed fine so after a few years in the RV we felt the time was right to fulfil our lifetime dream ......to sail around the world.

Because the Mirror isn't that big I need to try and sit in the middle of the boat and that makes reaching my outboard difficult, so I needed to make a tiller handle extension. I made it out of a metal rod, custom 3D printed sleeve and finished off the handle in silicon rubber. I also made a wooden outboard pad that would not only allow me to mount my outboard in the centre of the boat, but also raised the outboard just enough to be at the perfect depth for the hull. Nous quittons Tadoussac et mettons le cap sur l'Île St-Louis sur le Fjord du Saguenay. Mais avant, nous allons se balader sur la pointe de l'îslet et effectuons une montée au mât afin de remettre en fonction l'antenne radar, sans oublier de passer par la plage et d'apprécier l'eau à 10 degrés Celcius! Sur le trajet vers l'Île St-Louis, nous passons par l'anse à la Barque, l'anse des Messieurs, l'anse de Saint-Étienne et observons la baie Sainte-Marguerite. Nous faisons le tour de l'Île St-Louis et nous mouillons sur le plateau au sud est dans 7 mètres d'eau. Montée au mât afin de capter des images du haut des airs suivie d'une baignade dans le Fjord. Une navigation de 18,8 milles nautiques en 4 hrs à une vitesse moyenne de 5 noeuds. Pour une fois, les prévisions météo se sont avérées justes!
