El sábado 13 de noviembre corrimos la regata organizada por el Club Regatas La Plata Toribio Achaval. Con 17 inscriptos y con buen viento y olas que fue calmando a lo largo de la regata, toda la tripu completa se puso a disfrutar de un buen momento haciendo lo que nos gusta y se adaptó rápidamente a las condiciones reinantes.

After a night of pure terror, we arrive on Catalina Island. This couldn't have been a more welcome sight, a complete contrast to our last 12 hours . We have arrived in a true paradise and it's time to celebrate!!

After our 3 day and night crossing of the Bay of Biscay, we anchored in Ensenada de Mera. It is just across from A Coruña. A lovely anchorage in the sunny warm weather of Spain. The water was very clear compared to the Netherlands and enticed me daily for a dip. A bit on the cool side but quite refreshing. Of course, we wanted to explore with Hermann (our dinghy) so we needed to get him put in the water with the outboard motor. The very nice and secure lock had other ideas. Our friends Kim and Vin from SV Heron arrived a few days later and the party began. First a beach party with other sailors from the anchorage. Then Heron gave a salsa dancing workshop in the park overlooking the bay. A good time was had by all. Extra footage provided by Heron. Music by Troy and Paula Haag.

- As we continue our 4-day journey towards America, we have issues with the wind throughout the whole trip. - We pull in and out the code zero and the other sails more times than we can count.. - However, we are blessed for the amazing GULF STREAM which has pushed us along, albeit between 3 and 4 knots, but this was not to be sniffed at. - We surpass ourselves and catch another fish. - We meet Mike our friend in the middle of the ocean! I am slightly nervous as the last time Mike met us at sea we broached and Mike got very close and nearly collided.. - We approach Moorhead City and the channel is busy We finally 'put our anchor down' and after not seeing Mike for nearly 16 hours after he turned his engines off and drifted away from us at sea, he finally emerges and anchors near us - The anchoring in the bay at Moorhead City is very tight although it looks like there is loads of room.. - We head into the dock and it is TOUCH DOWN in the US!!!! With no engine we are slaves to the wind, or lack of it! We end up waiting at Dunk Island for quite a while until the wind finally picks up… a little. We check out the island and do the walk to the lookout, which is well worth it. We are surrounded by war history. Finally we get a few knots of wind and hoist the spinnaker and continue the hobble north to Cairns. We manage to make it to Kent Island and we take a look around. Thanks for watching. This episode was filmed in 03 / 2021. — Hey, my name is Nike and I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean. In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America. In this Episode, the empowerment of my sailboat Karl continues. After installing 3x100 amp/h Dakota Lithium batteries and two Xantrex inverters, I am now mounting my new renwable energy power source: 4x 100W Xantrex solar panels. With this set up, I won`t have to use my diesel engine ever again for charging my batteries. Well, let`s better not say never, but hopefully hardly ever ;). You've spent one week at sea with nothing but blue all around you. A speck of green appears over the horizon. Then the smell of land hits you in the face. Suddenly you are surrounded by green jungle. It's exciting and an assault on your senses all at the same time. So what's the first thing you would do? In this video we show the experience of making landfall after sailing from Mexico to Bocas Del Toro, Panama. The crew is incredibly pumped and after clearing in with Immigration and Customs we immediately head into town to celebrate with drinks, dinner, and dancing. The watermaker is running and I show the little changes I have made. After the first 1000 l of water that I have produced, I draw my positive conclusion. We are of course enjoying the time.
