While continuing to downsize we had some potting soil and wild flower seeds. We had the wild flower seeds for the property we owned prior to getting the boat. That property backed up to a preserve and we had planned to sow the seeds there. No longer needed we are going to try and tera form the barren man made Redfish Island. We get in a sunset bonfire with a little wine. Patricia shares her exercise routine. I get to demonstrate my docking skills in an adverse condition. Next week we are going to scout out our future trip to Galveston to sail the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa.

Lake Bala has an essential role, keeping local homes from flooding in rainy times, so they often empty the lake when they know bad weather is coming. This allows the lake to then absorp the rain so it doesn't break the river's banks both up and down stream. Thats all well and good but is this good for sailing!! Add to this super windy conditions blowing almost 20 mph with 30+ gusts and it doesn;t look good for sailing today. Der Sturm in der Ägäis zwingt uns zu einem längeren Aufenthalt in Kalamata. Die Zeit nutzen wir - neben den leidigen Behördengängen - für Reparaturen, Wartung und Pflege. Kalamata ist keine Schönheit, hat aber zweifelsohne schöne Ecken. Vor allem unser kleiner Roadtrip durch die Region offenbart die Schönheit des Peloponnes. In Gythio, einer kleinen Hafenstadt am Lakonischen Golf, entdecken wir eine kleine Flotte an abgerockten Yachten - wie die Hafenpolizei erzählt, wurden die Boote, die meist aus der Türkei stammen, für den Schmuggel von Flüchtlingen genutzt. Ein trauriger Anblick. Dafür bietet ein bereits vor Jahren auf Grund gelaufener Frachter ein imposantes Bild am Strand - nicht nur, weil der Rumpf von Graffiti verziert wurde.
