Petit résumé de mes interventions dans les écoles. Cette année c'est l'école Angela Davis à La Courneuve qui nous a accueillis et plus particulièrement la classe de Justine et David (CP/Ce1). De nombreux parents ne parlent pas bien le français et l'établissement fait partie du réseau d'éducation prioritaire renforcé. Certains enfants n'ont jamais vu la mer, et c'est une joie de leur faire découvrir la beauté des océans devant leurs yeux émerveillés :-) Un immense merci à Justine, David et au directeur de l'école Angela Davis pour leur accueil. Als Felia en Jord, Lars en Naomi op Tenerife zijn gaan we vanuit Radazul twee duiken maken in de oceaan. Heel warm is het niet, maar het is toch een fantastische ervaring om samen met de jongens het onderwaterleven te verkennen. Met de huurauto maken we ook nog wat uitstapjes op het eiland. Het onvermijdelijke moment komt ook dat ik weer afscheid van de familie moet nemen. Het gaat weer lang duren voordat we elkaar weer zien. Met Maïté als tolk gaan we op jacht naar een boostervaccinatie voor mij en Patrick. Het is niet makkelijk, maar we krijgen er een te pakken voor mij. Patrick moet volgens de Spaanse regels nog een paar weken wachten. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. Утром на пароме вернулись с острова Корфу в Игуменицу (населенный пункт на западном побережье материковой Греции). В 10 часов утра на автобусе выехали вглубь Греции в городишко Каламбака. Именно там находятся всемирно известные шесть действующих горных монастырей - Метеоры. Дорога до Каламбаки заняла 4,5 часа и мы были на месте в 4 часа дня. Погуляли по городу поужинали и знакомство с монастырями оставили на следующий день Чтобы посмотреть все 6 монастырей необходимо минимум 2 дня... Что мы и сделали. В итоге провели в Каламбаке 3 дня... Греция не перестает удивлять своими красотами... We put our sailing yacht in the water for the first time! As the boat was getting lowered into the water we climbed down into the cabin to find water coming in. Quickly was shut the through hull and realized the through hull hose going to the sea water foot pump had been cut by the previous owners, us and the surveyor had both missed this. Thankfully we shut the value off in time before any damage was cause and was able to wipe the water up with just a towel. A little longer and it could have been disastrous and sunk the boat. Later Austin fixes it and reconnects the foot pump. We start pulling everything out and organizing/cleaning the boat. Austin hoists Bayly up the mast to hang the flags. Outboard engine breaks in the middle of the night when we are dingying to sore and we have to row to town and fix it. We have seen lots of fish and massive sea turtles the size of a full grown seal, will post videos of them soon, one pops up right beside our dingy. Also ur first time anchoring and docking the yacht. Didn't drag anchor over night so the was good! Thru Hull is a term used to describe a fitting that is attached through the Hull of a Boat. A thru Hull fitting requires a hole to be cut/drilled in the boats Hull for the fitting to pass through. Some examples of thru Hull attachments are a sea-cock and hose and thru Hull transducers. Thru hulls can be used to expel waste water, such as from a sink, to let sea water in, such as for engine cooling or to allow placement of sensors such as depth gauges.

We had a stormy fall and winter here in the Pacific Northwest. In this video I take you with our family of four from our sailboat to Deception Pass by ferry and car. We went there for Shane's SUP race, Deception Pass Challenge. This race has always been fun in the past. Despite the weather this year (challenge is in the name after all), we had a great time cheering on Shane and the other competitors. This was also the strongest gusts we had on the boat while at the dock in Port Townsend. In January we were able to move to a slip where, as Shane mentions, we could bow in. That helped tremendously. This isn't the first race he's done where conditions have looked like this. We saw him on Lake Washington doing a similar race where most of his category bowed out, while he stuck it through to the end. He thrives in difficult environments. The difference this time is that I saw what others thought about it, and was able to speak to someone at a "dispatch" position from the Coast Guard. Let me know what you think in the comments- it really was a safe event with people that KNEW what they were doing. We've heard reports on the radio of other people on SUP and kayaks behaving irresponsibly and that's not what this was. After the race, we used the extra time we had to enjoy Coupeville, the town from Practical Magic. No matter what, I had a great time listening to Guns n' Roses this week while editing this 😋

** NOW SOLD ** The Grand Soleil 52 is a classic and elegant, well built, powerful sloop by the world-renowned naval architect German Frers. This renowned Italian boatyard's standard of construction and finish ensures these vessels' longevity and discerning followers. On deck: her aft cockpit has an oversized steering wheel that runs in a well for fingertip precision steering. There are several powerful Lewmar winches to control her generous sail plan. The primary winches are electric, and a Navtec Hydraulic system controls the backstay and her boom vang. Her beautiful laid teak runs the vessel's entire length, with ample hatches to ensure proper ventilation in hotter months. Her welcoming interior is well laid out, practical at sea, whilst homely at anchor or in the marina. It is in a beautiful condition, thanks initially to her top pedigree built and subsequent careful owners.
