The Galapagos Islands are a must see for any serious scuba diver. The amount and variety of marine life is daunting. We dove in June to see the Whale Sharks and whatever else was passing through. Warm water in the northern islands - Darwin and Wolf and much colder in the islands on and south of the equator. Three major ocean currents converge here which is why the marine life is so prolific. 🇬🇧 On the weather charts, the ridge of high pressure is a solid dark blue of no wind ☀️. In reality it’s full of faint puffs from every direction, some isolated corridors of wind and other areas of complete calms. Incredibly, Sébastien Marsset - Navigateur and Fabrice Amedeo have just sailed past Isabelle Joschke - Skipper MACSF and I. They never stopped, and averaged 8 knots of boat speed while slipping past just 10 miles away. Meanwhile Isa and I have been stuck like glue in a completely different wind, sailing only 22miles in the last 8 hours. 😩 It’s frustrating to be stuck, but the race is far from over and there’s plenty of opportunities to catch up in the coming days. 💪 🇫🇷 Sur les cartes météo, la dorsale anticyclonique est un bleu foncé, qui vetu dire une solide d'absence de vent ☀️. While the yacht was berthed in Queensway Quay Marina, we went urban exploring in and around the Rock of Gibraltar. On the bay side of the rock is a huge area with free to access tunnels that you won't find on any tourist list. Now called the Northern Defences, these tunnels were overgrown for years until a recent effort to clean them out and for now they still haven't been commercialised.
