This might change the way you approach your next anchorage. I had a rough week making me exhausted being alone on my boat. Winds peaking at Tropical Storm force and never ending squalls for 5 days. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Since moving from the Mumm 36 to the J109 the team at bottom up boats have had to learn how to master the inside A-Sail gybe. By following three simple steps and practising in light conditions before moving up to heavier airs you can quickly master the basic moves that will have you flipping you boat from side to side loosing little to no speed in the process. An A-Sail can also been know as an Asymmetrical Spinnaker, regardless of what you call it the skills need to gybe on on the inside are the same. Being able to gybe the A-Sail effectively on the inside you limit the travel the sheets need to tack reducing the time it takes to gybe the sail which limits the loss of boats speed while reducing the likelihood of tangles. The inside A-Sail gybe is easier to do in light to moderate conditions than the outside option. It is a little tricker in heavy airs, with that said it is well worth mastering this key skill as it will takes seconds of your race time every time you pull one off successfully. If you are sailing a boat with a short bow sprit it can be safer to gybe your A-Sail on the outside, this reducing the risk of getting a messy and time consuming forestay wrap. Deux semaines après son arrivée à Saint-Brieuc, au terme d’un improbable tour du monde de 3 ans ponctué d’escales aussi chaleureuses que fabuleuses, Yann Quenet a officiellement marqué la fin de son aventure. Il a sorti son micro voilier de l’eau pour le ramener chez lui, sous le petit hangar où il l’a construit, après l’avoir dessiné selon des préceptes simples. « J’ai réfléchit à ce dont j’avais besoin et j’ai élaboré un bateau qui puisse satisfaire ces besoins », expliquait le quinquagénaire avec une certaine malice. Car les besoins de Yann Quenet sont pour le moins minimes comme le montre cette vidéo de la visite de son bateau.

This is Episode 46 of our adventure. This week we finish a few last minute jobs before setting a course for Hayling Island. On the way we fill up with diesel. We anchor for the night at Osbourne Bay and have a wonderful time jumping in and out of the water with the kids. Pay back for all of our hard work. Neste vídeo de número 31, um pouco atrasado , pois era para ter saído no início de julho, mas como eu já havia programado minhas férias para esse mês, eu combinei com o Fernando para virarmos o casco do veleiro após meu retorno de Belém do Pará, no final de julho e ele concordou. Foram analisadas várias opções para virar o casco, e quase todas apresentavam um ofensor de segurança devido a dificuldade da disponibilidade de dois pontos longitudinais próximos ao casco e que pudessem servir de pontos de apoio para o giro no eixo central do casco, pois envolveriam custos com obras que não estavam no planejamento da infraestrutura do espaço interno do galpão da Usinando. In 2019 Jan and Josefine bought a 28 foot sailboat and wanted to sail around the world. They soon realized the boat was to small to do such a trip in a comfortable way so they sold the 28 foot boat and bought a Bavaria 50 Holiday in 2020. They since then lived on board and prepared for the trip with departure in 2022. The boat is upgraded with new rig, sails, a dinghy, motor, and a lot more to ensure a flawless trip.
