This Fountaine Pajot Saona 47 Owners Version from 2018 is a well-designed cruising catamaran offering great living space both inside and out. She has wide Flexiteek decks, a huge upper deck lounge equipped with settees and sun beds, a large lounge area fore, and a generous aft deck/cockpit with ample seating, a BBQ and an extra fridge. The cockpit roof extends all the way to the stern and can be completely enclosed if the weather is less cooperative. The elevated helm station, or semi fly-bridge, is spacious and comfortable and all lines come back to the helm. Also worth mentioning is the hydraulic up/down bathing platform that can hold the center console tender with the 20hp outboard. She is very well equipped with a Starfurl In-boom furling main sail, an extra brand new custom made mainsail, furling genoa, furling gennaker, and electric winches. Furthermore, equipped with; two 60hp Volvo Penta diesel engines with low engine hours, folding props, electric wireless engine control, a Dockmate wireless remote control docking system, solar panels, under water lights, water maker, and a life raft. The complete navigation package includes radar, AIS, and a remote control for the auto pilots. A wide sliding door connects the aft deck to the saloon of this Saona 47. The panoramic windows, portholes and skylights create a light and bright atmosphere. The galley with island bench is ideally located between the saloon and the cockpit and is amongst other fitted out with a 4-burner gas stove, oven, dishwasher and large fridge drawers. To starboard is the big ‘L’ shaped sofa with large adjustable saloon table. The navigation station at the end of the saloon offers the best views to the outside. The master suite occupies the entire port hull and features a big double bed, a vanity/office space, a bathroom with walk in shower, big sink and an enclosed toilet. The starboard hull has two generous guest cabins, each with large double beds and an en suite with shower, sink and toilet. At the forward end of each hull, the peaks, is a smaller space that can be used for storage. Once we left Annapolis, we spent a very chilly, windy and bumpy day on the Chesapeake. We had 20 knot winds coming directly at us on the bow and the swell felt like being in a washing machine. We anchored for the night at James Island in the Little Choptank River. The next day we motored 25 miles to Solomons Island and dropped anchor in Back Creek where we were reunited with new friends aboard SV Ocean Cowboy and SV Nickelby. We spent 2 days exploring this little island town located where the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay meet. #multihull #multihullsailing #sailingvideos Sailing to New Zealand can be a worry for many sailors - this is our 2nd trip there from New Caledonia and some social media folks asked me to please share a few details about our passage. We have a number of deep low and high high pressure systems around as well as convergence which brings on rain and thunderstorms, however convergence between the systems also allows us a more direct route to New Zealand which otherwise usually means sailing a semi circle that leads towards Australia before heading for New Zealand. We make use of several weather programs, our Polars set up of for the boat as well as our beautiful B&G radar with Doppler technology to see which way systems are moving. We had the chance to visit and live in many beautiful countries including China, Hongkong, Thailand, Romania, Lithuania and France with our previous jobs, that made us realize how fast the world is changing and how fast the life is going and there is no “later” than “now” for the project we have in mind. In early 2019 we took a one-week sailing courses that opened our eyes of new ways of travelling and changed our life style. In June 2020, we decided to sell everything we own, house, car and lot of stuff that we do not need anymore so that we can buy a sailboat and go for an undetermined voyage around the globe. We bought a catamaran Lagoon 450s delivered in France in July 2021. We invite you to share with us our adventures of learning, exploring and making our project come to life.
