VISITA E ISPEZIONE ALLA BARCA Nei precedenti video abbiamo individuato la barca dei tuoi sogni, redatto una previsione di spesa dettagliata ed individuato alcune barche che potrebbero fare al caso tuo. Ora è arrivato il momento di andare a vedere la barca o le barche che hai selezionato! Inutile dire che dovrai studiare con dovizia la documentazione che ti hanno mandato prima della visita. Andare a vedere una barca che ti piace è sicuramente una fase emozionante, ma non devi rischiare di farti sfuggire qualcosa di importante, quindi il mio consiglio è di fare una lista dei check da eseguire, stamparla e portarla con te. La prima cosa che noterai è lo stato generale di cura della barca. Il detto dice che l’abito non fa il monaco, ma salvo alcuni casi in linea di massima per una barca è proprio così. Una barca anche datata e con i suoi acciacchi, ma pulita e di bell’aspetto, solitamente è una barca amata e di conseguenza una barca che negli anni è stata ben mantenuta. E’ molto difficile rendersi conto delle problematiche di una barca durante la prima visita, ma potrai farti un’idea del suo armatore e per esperienza ti assicuro che la barca assomiglia molto a chi la possiede. Un altro fattore generale è sentire l’odore che fa una barca: odore di umido la maggior parte delle volte non è un buon segno e neanche odore di gasolio. Guarda sotto i paglioli, controlla che in sentina non ci sia acqua e se dovessi trovarla chiedi spiegazioni, verifica lo stato di ossidazione delle prese a mare, su una barca a vela fai caso allo stato dell’alluminio che indica eventuali problemi di correnti galvaniche. Le cose principali che dovrai controllare sono quelle che riguardano le strutture e la sicurezza della barca, ovvero scafo, motore, impianto elettrico e nel caso di una barca a vela anche albero, rigging e vele. Ma qui devo fare una premessa importante. Qualora tu non sia un esperto e soprattutto se parliamo di imbarcazioni dal prezzo importante il passaggio successivo obbligatorio è affidarsi ad un buon perito. Quando ho comprato la mia prima barca Gentilina, ero molto inesperto e anche a causa della mia inesperienza ho deciso che non avrei speso i miei soldi con un perito. Ho sbagliato alla grande! Sono stato molto fortunato perché la barca strutturalmente era di ottima costruzione, ma ho speso davvero moltissimi soldi in avarie e manutenzione straordinaria che non avevo previsto! Se avessi consultato un buon perito, mi avrebbe messo in guardia sui lavori che avrei dovuto affrontare e così avrei potuto proporre, con valide argomentazioni, un prezzo più basso rispetto a quello che ho pagato o rinunciare all’acquisto. In ogni caso, se il tuo occhio non è totalmente a secco di barche, procedi ai controlli sopra menzionati. Se decidi che la barca ti interessa chiedi di poterla provare in mare, è il modo più veloce per capire se tutto funziona a dovere. Un altro consiglio che mi sento di darti è di non concentrarti troppo sugli accessori tecnologici, soprattutto se datati. Certo sono una comodità estrema in barca, ma si usurano velocemente e sono facilmente sostituibili. La mia seconda barca ad esempio ha quasi tutta la strumentazione da cambiare ed anche qualche lavoretto estetico da fare. La scelta è ricaduta su di lei in quanto sono stati fatti dei lavori di refitting totale fra il 2019 ed il 2020 di albero, manovre fisse, vele, motore ed impianto elettrico in previsione dell’utilizzo commerciale della barca. Tutti lavori lunghi, molto tecnici e soprattutto dispendiosi. Insomma il plotter lo potrai sostituire in autonomia, i lavori per avere una barca sicura in mare non possono essere sottovalutati e sono solitamente molto costosi. La barca ti ha fatto una buona impressione, ottimo direi! A questo punto potrai fare la tua offerta, ma ne parliamo nel prossimo video! Buon Vento ne poco ne tanto! De boot is voor twee weken op de kant voor gepland onderhoud. Onder meer komen er nieuwe raampjes in, marifoonkabel en antenne en afvoerslangen. Ik ga de letters eraf halen, omdat de boot wordt gepoetst door Renskib. Ik zet de boot in de antifouling, maar eerst moet ik wat blaasjes openmaken met een verfkrabber, primen met interprotect, plamuren met watertite en dan weer primen voordat ik het in de antifouling kan zetten. From high above Vancouver, we fly west across Pacific all the way to China and the Hudson Yacht and Marine Co. yards in Ju Jiang Village, the home of last week's Future Yacht, the HH52. From here we continue Southwest all the way down to South Africa and the home of Balance Catamarans in Cape Town. Finally, we hope inland to this week's wine pairing at the Boekenhoutskloof Winery. Wine: Boekenhoutskloof Swartland Syrah https://www.boekenhoutskloof.co.za/contact 1993: The farm and homestead was bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established that now includes Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon and Viognier. 1996: The first vintage of Boekenhoutskloof was produced from a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard that is still in production today. 1997: The first Porcupine Ridge was launched. It was a Sauvignon Blanc, with a label incorporating a pen and ink drawing by the late acclaimed wildlife artist Zakkie Eloff. 2002: The first vintage of The Chocolate Block was produced. From this 2002 vintage, 15 barrels were bottled and released in 2003 2003: The Wolftrap brand was launched. Even though no evidence of wolves has ever been found on Boekenhoutskloof, we created this wine to remind us of the mysteries and legends of days gone by. 2007: Marc Kent became Diners Club Winemaker of the Year in recognition for his unswerving winemaking excellence. Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2018 Grapes for the Boekenhoutskloof Syrah are from selected parcels of the finest Syrah planted on the estates own Swartland farms, namely Porseleinberg and Goldmine. These vineyards grow on the rocky bedrock of decomposed Mica-Schist, a unique terroir expressed by the concentrated and structured wines. The Syrah grapes are all hand-harvested into lug boxes and transported to Boekenhoutskloof in Franschhoek for vinification. Grapes are cooled prior to been transferred to tulip-shaped concrete tanks for fermentation. A combination of partially de-stemmed and whole-bunch (40%) clusters ferment spontaneously with minimal sulphur additions and no acidification. A soft délestage is performed 2-3 times per day. Once maceration is complete, the skins are basket pressed and gravity-fed into traditional 2 500L Austrian oak foudres and 600L demi-muids for further ageing of up to 18 months. Dark fruit dominates an intense, brooding nose with its black currant, black olive, tar and graphite aromas. Luscious, sweet red and dark berries follow through onto an exceptionally complex palate with rich flavours of ripe plums, black cardamom and hints of ground pepper and sweet tobacco. A serious core of cured meat and green olive tapenade add to the attractive savoury character of the structured mid-palate, with notes of milk chocolate coating the mouth. The wine is supple, medium to full bodied, with beautiful concentration, silky-textured tannins and vibrant acidity to balance. Red fruit and spice linger on the finish with classic nuances of white pepper and lively garrigue adding a Provencal character.
