It blew from every direction at some point this evening and ended with a stunning sunset with storms in the distance. A perfect way to start the final series of the year. We dedicate this show to Michelle Slade, a fellow sailor and dear friend who recently crossed the bar.

Some footage from a recent SeaDoo RXP325 ride in Wollongong, Australia. My JetSki has 190hrs on it and is not modified, this is standard performance for the 325hp engine!! My ski recently undertook a heavy hull reinforcement procedure at 180hrs. The repair I performed includes rear hull reinforcement, propulsion jet intake area reinforcement, and bow area reinforcement with epoxy fibreglass. Top speed on this ride was 118km/h, average fuel burn: 35 litres per hour. The waves were small in the open ocean, while the small wave chop was fairly high. I plan to upload a video again soon with some wave jumping.

One championship reaches its conclusion as another begins. Day 5 of the RS Games brought challenging conditions to Travemünde, with strong winds and steep chop testing sailors across the venue. The RS Feva World Championship got underway with its first day of racing, while the RS Aero fleet continued their championship and the RS 500 European Championship reached its thrilling conclusion. The day also celebrated the unique spirit of the RS 500 class, as competitors reflected on the close racing, lifelong friendships and multi-generational community that makes the class so special, before the 2026 European Champions were crowned. Travemünder Woche is one of the largest annual race weeks in Northern Europe. Since 1889, sailing events have been held at Travemünde located at the Bay of Lübeck, and this is the 137th edition of the regatta. The 2026 edition is also hosting the RS Games, with several World and European Championships being held during the event. In this update we take a look at the festival, hear from RS700 and RS800 sailors who have just completed their Europeans, and then take a look at the RS Feva Worlds opening ceremony, with a massive fleet of 140 dinghies and 280 sailors taking part. Later we escaped the summer heat with a visit to a nearby waterfall, where we sat sketching, talking, and enjoying the cool mountain water. It was another reminder that slowing down often allows us to notice more. That evening the circle widened. Neighbours and friends gathered for a taco party to celebrate Chiharu's visit and Mitsu's upcoming voyage across the Pacific. In 2027 he plans to sail Wahine from Japan to Mexico, following the migration route of the loggerhead turtles as part of the Turtle Highway Project. As I've watched this week unfold, one thing has become increasingly clear. Longevity isn't only about what we do. It's also about who gathers around us.
