Music by Masis Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What're your plans? Buy a boat, fix it up, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Our time in New Zealand was rapidly drawing to a close. But before we could sail north for another cruising season in the South Pacific, there were a couple of things left on our New Zealand to-do list. Little Dipper (our tender) needed some TLC, there were more hikes to do and we were finally able to cross off the top item on Amy's wish list: the Waitangi Treaty Grounds Hāngi and Concert. I know we keep saying we did a lot awesome things in New Zealand, but the Hāngi and Concert was right up there near the top of the list. It was a great cultural evening and we both really enjoyed learning more about Māori culture. Being elected Chief for the evening didn't hurt either! Hi everyone! By popular demand of several subscribers, we are bringing you the second in a multi-part story of Eva, our 1958 356A Cabriolet and her history with our family. Heidi’s Great Uncle acquired the car in 1961 from Bill Boeing Jr. (son of the founder of Boeing aerospace in Seattle). It is an interesting and fun story! In this episode, Franny talks about hearing about this amazing car in Heidi’s family, to finally convincing Heidi’s uncle to part with it and the story of the first trip out to begin work on the car to prep it for the long journey back to Colorado. There will be some fun and exciting photos and video moments of this series. We hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give it a “Thumbs up” and Subscribe to Heidi and Franny’s Garage for more videos to come. Amazing Maldives trip to Jumeirah Vittaveli in December 2016. Stingrays visit daily for the feeding session, and the house reef is great for snorkeling and scuba diving. Nice dive centre as well and some good dive sites around the area. Rooms are fantastic. Shot in GoPro 4 Silver @ 1080p 60fps. This was a GoPro Quik video edit.

We've moved several steps on to getting afloat - we've sold the car - (which was way more emotional than we imagined) advertised the house and at long last bought a boat! It's an Amel Super Maramu (exactly like the SV Delos crew as everyone keeps telling us) but in all the chaos, as much as we try and keep the kids busy and entertained during the summer holidays, the kids have gone a bit wild. TRANSCRIPT The boat sale has gone through. We have bought an Amel 53-foot yachts. I think we celebrated I can't remember. I think we opened a bottle champagne didn't we? It's really exciting we're finally going but it's really stressful because I’m trying to so many things before we go. My little one's at home today because he’s not going anywhere. I can't arrange for him to go somewhere every day but he quite likes being at home, he plays really well. The school holidays don't feel like school holidays at all because I've got a massive list of things to move out of his house. We have to do a lot of maintenance before we go so the children - I've organised for them to do lots of things. So I just don't feel like I'm really spending much time with the kids at all. My brother came to visit. My mum came because she likes to be here when there's chaos. I've had my friend from Hong Kong here with her three girls. She only comes once a year so I have to squeeze that in. Any other friends that are local pretty much had to deal with me painting while I’m trying to chat to them. The kids have gone a little bit feral. I haven't really been going out with them every day, they just kind of have to work it out really. I've tried to arrange activities for them when I can. So Woody is really busy in the workshop knocking everything together because we're having a huge sale on Sunday to sell any of the surplus stock and bits of furniture from his business Rat and Pallet. Our Mazda Bongo Friendy has been sold to another family that are going to make the most of it. Hopefully they'll go on a lot of camping trips. It does have a lot of sentimental value. We've been on lots of adventures with it. Since the kids were really young we’ve been on a lot of camping trips - lots of photos from all over England of us in that van sometimes in the rain, sometimes in the sun. I don't think the kids can quite believe that we've actually sold the car and it was getting driven off. So it was kind of sad to see it go. The car was 16 years old - we had it imported from Japan and we made a lot of good use of it. So we've got the house listed - we've got lots of people interested. There is a family coming today which would be our ideal thing. I've been cutting grass, cutting hedges, cleaning paths, doing the decking, trying to tidy up around the kids. This house will be properly packed up, properly maintained and in a couple weeks time I'm gonna start the actual packing. The lifeboat’s being pretty quiet. There was a Shout I didn't go out on. It was a fishing boat that sunk. On the lifeguarding job, yeah it was quite busy day we rescued a dog in the morning - or helped rescue it - and found its owner and then in the afternoon there was a boat that was in difficulty and they needed a bit of moral support. Right, so now I'm going to pick up the kids - they're doing their athletics and I promised I'd go and watch them do their races at the end so I've kind of got to finish my job's early to go and do that but I do feel that I need to go and see them. One thing we love about travelling is that you meet so many people and in the most random ways. The German couple we hitchhiked with in the previous episode invited us for a road trip around Bonaire. We go Geocaching, spot Flamingos and surfers. Then it’s time to say goodbye to Bonaire and sail to Curacao where we get greeted by a sailboat at sea who escorts us to the anchorage. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? Back in South Africa visiting family and friends our You Tube followers are asking us to post more videos. I thought this would be a great opportunity to reflect on the oceans we have sailed, the places and people we have met and whilst everything cannot be shared, we hope this video will provide some insight into the vibes we feel as we sail into different territories and engage with different cultures. Hi everyone, by popular demand of several subscribers, we are bringing you the first in a multi-part story of Eva, our 1958 356A Cabriolet and her history with our family. Heidi’s Great Uncle acquired the car in 1961 from Bill Boeing Jr. (son of the founder of Boeing aerospace in Seattle). It is an interesting and fun story! In this episode, Heidi will take you from the purchase of the barely used car all the way up to just before Franny and Heidi both go out to Boston to rediscover the car. That next episode will follow this one. There will be some fun and exciting photos and video moments of this series. We hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, please give it a “Thumbs up” and Subscribe to Heidi and Franny’s Garage for more videos to come. In Puerto Escondido it’s all about the W’s… water and winches. We make many trips in the dinghy to fill up our tanks with potable water from jerry cans, and Ty works on trying to disassemble and service one of our main winches. Then, it’s back out to Isla Carmen to get in the water and cool down before sailing to Loreto, performing a lantern rescue mission, and stocking up on supplies. ________________ We hope you enjoy our videos and adventures. After sailing through rocky entrance to Hatchet Bay, we anchor the boat and go spelunking in the nearby caves. Tambi doesn't like bats, spiders, or the dark. Because of her dislike of those things, I thought it was strange when she wanted to go spelunking in the caves at Hatchet Bay. So spelunking we went! Tambi did good. In fact, all 3 of us managed to explore the caves without receiving jugular bites from any of the resident flying rodents. If that's not the measure of a successful caving experience, I don't know what is! Let's see, what else happened in this video... OH! We also got to check out the annual Pineapple Festival on Eleuthera. A pretty cool experience. Loads of friendly Bahamians came out to enjoy the festivities, eat some conch salad, drink a few Vita Malts, and just celebrate life. It was awesome. While at the Pineapple Festival I was interviewed by the #1 news reporter in the Bahamas. I wish I was able to get the actual footage and audio, but I've not yet been able to track it down. Ah well. Ok, I think that about sums it up. Thanks for watching!!
