http://www.TheSailingFamily.com - No luck - this time we hit a big storm coming from Columbia - it´s called „Cuoio di pollo“. We had to fight for Tavarua not to set her on a reef. Then we had another adventure at an island - see what´s happened… We hope by sharing this adventure you will find some inspiration in your life. If doesn’t have to be sailing. It can be anything at all. Just take a few minutes every day for yourself, breathe deep and relax, and don’t forget to SMILE big time! TheSailingFamily.com is a documentary film project about a family who bought a sailboat and started sailing in July 2016. The second season is now taking place in Panama. Be a part of the adventure! Also known as Coco Cay, Little Stirrup is Royal Caribbean's private cruise ship island. Today we have it all to ourselves. I suppose this particular destination is the least authentic of all the islands we've been to thus far. I say that because, in this video, we spend a couple days anchored off the beaches of Little Stirrup Cap - or as Royal Caribbean calls it - Coco Cay. Yes, things are a little less authentic here, but it's still pretty to look at. Just try not to think about the fact that all the perfectly aligned palm trees were shipped in and planted there - or that the underwater snorkeling features are made of concrete. If you can get past that stuff, then Little Stirrup is a pretty cool place to stop. I will say that it is pretty neat to be able to pick out a beach chair from among the thousands that line the beaches and sit there in absolute solitude. Well, I hope you enjoy the video! We spend a day recovering from the events of Episode 31 and then tie up some loose ends on Rad Mode before enjoying a San Francisco day sail on SV Caradon with Captain Heather! Just a side note about the voice-overs...I stayed up drinking by myself until about 2am and thought about redoing them all so I'd sound less trashed, but what the hell? I certainly don't normally do it this way, but this is how it went down this time so I decided to leave it. Hope you enjoy! Welcome to these Classic Episodes of Distant Shores where we revisit destinations from our cruise in the Mediterranean. This time we make our final sail aboard the boat we built ourselves. Music by Blue Temperature (https://soundcloud.com/bluetemperature) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What're your plans? Buy a boat, fix it up, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.
The lead keel is one of the most exciting parts of this build at the moment but it is also the scariest, by far! We have melted down some of the wheel weights and loose lead in order to weigh it, while talking about that, we weigh in on the actual pour. Also, a few updates at the end of the video. We hope you enjoy. Also, we will be showing a short film at the International Maritime Film Festival in Bucksport ME, the last weekend of this month (September 2017). We would love to see as many people as possible there! We'll be doing a Q and A and meeting up at the pub afterwards. El video doblado en español. Six months of sailing. One broken boat. Countless lessons. This journey wasn’t easy — grounding the boat, ripping the sails, losing both rudders — but damn, was it worth it. In this video, we recap our first six months offshore: Spearfishing in the Caymans Sunsets in Jamaica The Colombian coast And life at anchor in the San Blas ➤ Grab the signed first edition of Be The Captain before it’s gone → https://bethecaptain.com If you’ve ever dreamed of sailing around the world — this is what it really looks like when it works… and when it doesn’t.
We still had some time left in Sweden before going back to RAN in Curacao and we did our best to get as much out of it. We wish we could have shown you more of the beautiful and diverse nature in Sweden. But here comes a couple of bits and pieces, both from land and from above. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? We have been filming all the way through the Pacific but slow upload speeds have prevented us uploading any large videos. So here is a sneak peak at some of our footage, Swimming with Manta rays in Suwarrow, the rest will have to wait until a better internet connection in New Zealand. Music: http://www.purple-planet.com

A great deal of work and love goes into every video in the series. Please give us a thumbs up. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news that you are welcome to share with your friends. All of the ‘Seadog’ videos are available to watch on the ‘Barry Perrins’ channel on Youtube. For notifications on new releases please subscribe. Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. How did we start sailing? It's a question we get asked a lot. What was the process ? How did you go from working in London to sailing off into the sunset? Should I buy a boat now or later ? This episode I talk about where I came from, what inspired me, and what I really think you should do to get yourself sailing. I hope you find it interesting!
