This Fix it Friday, we replace our domestic service batterieson our Bavaria 47 yacht. Two of the original batteries started to fail so we decide to replace all four. The two which were okay have now been put in our camper van. It is always good practice to change all of the batteries at once to avoid problems at a later date. We should now be good for a few seasons at least! Fix it Fridays are extras to our normal episodes and feature some of the little jobs/projects we do aboard the boat on a daily basis. It took us about three days to move the keel out of the ground and into the boathouse. No easy task moving an object that heavy. It's great to know that we now have our keel and it is sitting where it needs to be in the boathouse. Next we'll need to fair it, flatten and shape the wood keel and then we can start bolting things together. Exploring the Russell Group of the Solomon Islands was amazing. Beautiful beaches, stunning reefs and discovering new waves. After a week in Barbados, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) spent little more than two weeks exploring and cruising Grenada, 2-20 Feb 2018. Dramatic upwind sailing on the south coast from minute 10'38''.

Colombia Working on the boat in the heat and the rain, trying to get ready for the next leg of the journey. Santa Marta is a place of extremes in weather and that can make everyday chores a challenge. I run into some fellow cruiser friends and we tour the city on foot and see the colourful lives of the locals.

As we prepare to leave the USA and head offshore, the preparation work begins. We have so , so much to do after living on the boat for 6 months without saiing. Today our attention turns to making sure our safety gear is working and in date. Pyrotechnic flares are a must for offshore sailing, so we go to source and replace out of date units. Im März 1937 legte der Berliner Architekt Robert Kisch die Pläne für die Kaserne in Krampnitz vor. Das Heeres-Neubauamt begann im Frühjahr 1937 mit den Bauarbeiten. Fertigstellung wahrscheinlich gegen 1939. Der Umzug der Heeres-Reit- und Fahrschule erfolgte in Etappen und begann bereits 1937 mit dem Lehrstab und wurde 1939/40 abgeschlossen. Seit November 1938 unterstand die Heeres-Reitschule dem „Chef der Schnellen Truppen“, General Heinz Guderian. Im Juni 1941 erfolgte die Umbenennung in „Schule für Schnelle Truppen“, 1943 in „Panzertruppenschule II Krampnitz“. Im Winter 1944 erfolgte die Verlegung der Hauptbestandteile der Panzertruppenschule nach Bergen, nur die berittenen Ausbildungseinheiten verblieben in ihren Kasernen. Das Gelände der Militäranlage ist rund 120 ha groß. Die prägenden Bauten sind der weithin sichtbare Turm unmittelbar am Eingang, das Offizierkasino, das Offizierswohnheim und das Fähnrichswohnheim. Die Gebäude stehen unter Denkmalschutz und sind typisch für die Militärarchitektur der 1930er Jahre. Ab 1945 war hier die Sowjetarmee stationiert, nach 1992 wurde das Gelände nicht mehr militärisch genutzt. 2008 wurde das Gelände vom Land Brandenburg für rund 4,1 Mio. Euro an die TG Potsdam Entwicklungsgesellschaft verkauft. Die hat im Sommer 2011 einen Masterplan vorgelegt, der den Bau und die Sanierung von knapp 400 Gebäuden mit 1.651 Wohnungen auf 75 ha vorsieht.[1] Das Gelände wird gerne vom nahen Filmstudio Babelsberg aus als Kulisse genutzt, so wurden hier u. a. Use o navionics em modo satélite, que ira ver as pedras e pontos escuros. Saia fora dele que são pedras. Para se entrar no Rio Formoso, pela primeira vez, aconselho chamar uma lancha ou barcos de passeios dos locais. Para guiar deste o mar aberto ate a frente da prainha de carneiros. Ancorar no ultimo bar do rio, Prainha de Carneiros. E mais protegido e balança quase nada. Sem contar que tem o apoio do amigo Macedônio. Ele trabalha durante o dia todo no bar de frente ancoragem. E82 Weekly Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. We encounter horrific gale force winds of 38 knots (yes, I checked in my sailing book) so we head for Bahia Bellina for the night. We sample a local pizza and attempt, yet again, to upload a vlog without success! Peanut’s engine gets an overhaul after she leaves us high and (not so) dry on the way back to Nutshell in the dark. Another dash for a safe haven, Bahia Potrero, gets us out of the wild and woolly ocean papagya winds. We finally arrive at the little town of Playas del Cocos, check it out and find a real brewery and sample a few of the local ales, delicious!
