Episode 9 We carry on gutting her out & removing any remaining wood and lining left. We start sanding the inside as well as the outside as we are going to remove the baby blue on the deck and change it.. to a color you'll just have to wait and see ;) Poor Ricky was covered in dust. My allergies got the best of me yet again. We also remove our toilet which was a mission on itself. We take a trip down to Jeffrey's Bay to Aerontec to get our supply of epoxy and a few other goodies so we can start with the interior. We grab a drink at our spot (since our boat is right next door) @ the algoa bay yacht club. We start cleaning up the hard so that we can get hauled out soon (if the weather would bear with us) I've been feeling pretty down and feeling super dizzy so Ricky decided why not cheer me up? Ricky's not a flower guy, so it was a nice change ;) We give you a glimpse of the layout we plan for Lady Africa and start disconnecting all our wires. We also stop by Sigma Coatings so get some paint so that we can start painting that baby blue top. We have some breakfast at our favorite place Spur and start mixing up our epoxy! After lending a hand on Lucidity, it was time to sell Somnium. Initially Taylor reached out to us via email after binge-watching all of our episodes. (Sidenote: I want to make a shirt that says "Learning the Lines - At the end of the rabbit hole where you want to be."). He fell in love with the idea of finishing Somnium and explained in his email that he wanted to buy her from us. After meeting for a beer and trying to talk Taylor out of buying Somnium... I just couldn't convince him otherwise. He was still interested and wanted to see her in person. That weekend I showed Somnium to him and showed him the good, the bad, and the ugly. His mind was made up. I knew Taylor was a grad student and didn't have a crazy amount of cash. I also knew that we grossly overpaid when we initially bought Somnium. We ended up spending around $10,000 on her after buying the new engine. We also added around $10,000 worth of new equipment and work, mostly paid for by sponsorships, but it was still value nonetheless. Knowing all this, we offered the boat to Taylor for $3,000. In a way we wanted to pay our good fortune forward to him, and in a way we also wanted to help someone else out with a dream. I know we "lost money" on Somnium. We get that. But it's all part of the cost of education in our minds. Our sailing trip in Finnish Archipelago sea continued all the way down to Jumo. That rugged beautiful Island with great endless views. All the hospitality with local products were great, especially that warm smoked salmon that we tried. Also I had to do some maintenance work as the attachment for Autopilot was damaged during the sail. In addition to that, in Berghamn our anchor got stuck in the bottom and when I had to use force to lift it, it bended little bit so I had to fix that also. Le mont Darwin, point culminant de le Terre de Feu, (2 429 m), qui surplombe ce glacier a été baptisé par le capitaine Fitz Roy en 1834 pour rendre hommage au pas encore célèbre naturaliste Charles Darwin qui l'accompagnait alors. Le Mont Darwin n'a été gravi qu'en 1961 et la chaine de Darwin explorée par des alpinistes français seulement en 2011. L'endroit serait il inhospitalier ?? Ce ne fut pas le cas pour nous ce jour là: ni vent, ni pluie. Seulement une panne de retour image du drone. Nous l'avons lancé sans écran de contrôle donc sans savoir ce qu'il filmait. Vu le résultat, on ne sert à rien. La prochaine fois on le laisse faire seul.

Take a Sea Trail with us at Denison Yachting on a beautiful Beneteau Oceanis 41.1. It was a gorgeous day to sail, with chilly weather, and light winds in Fort Lauderdale. It was a comfortable, easy sail and she moved very nicely through the water. Although it took some effort to work out my pointer finger that had to push the button on the electric winches. I can not complain, this is a tremendously nice new boat!

In this vlog, I repair the water tank aboard our Endeavour sailboat. After hurricane Irma, I noticed flakes of weird stuff are floating in our drinking water. SOLUTION: Reseal the inside of our water tank with epoxy. Simple, right? BwAHHahhAhahAhahAHHAAA!!!! Never. It just doesn't happen like that with boat projects. It's way more interesting when the water tank lid won't come off because it was installed with 3M 5200. That way you have to completely destroy the lid in order to access the water tank. YIPPEEE!!! Once you finally gain access to the tank's interior, it's covered in weird brown stuff that requires hours of laborious sanding to remove. WHAHOOO!!! It sure does feel good though once the work is done and the tank is freshly resealed in 2 coats of food-grade epoxy. JOB DONE!!! Oh... no not quite... now you've got to fabricate an entire new lid cuz you wrecked the original one, REMEMBER!??! The fun never ends... not even when my exposed, sweat-drenched skin is covered in grayish-brownish water tank dust which gives my epidermis an unnatural tone that is reminiscent of a near-dead ET that Elliot just found in the river.
