Race director Simon Dryden fills us in following this morning's weather briefing prior to the main start for the Sundance Marine Melbourne Osaka Cup 2018.
Having been delayed a day due to gale force winds, the 2018 Sundance Marine Melbourne Osaka Cup get away in fresh conditions.

EPISODE 23 We are both so upset by all our footage from the crossing. Firstly, I (Dave) lost our vlogging camera and at £500 each they are not cheap. Then, I (Dave) fitted the muff to get rid of wind noise and it gets rid of all noise! Ouch! You can imagine that I (Dave) have been in the dog house a fair bit. My apologies, I’ll stick to diving and Hayley will stick to YouTub’ing. Sound and video issues aside, we did the best we could with this episode considering this is only 2 weeks after Hayley had major surgery (see ep22). We decided to continue with our Atlantic crossing despite what had happened. By the time of departure with the Arc, Hayley’s surgery would have been 3 weeks old so medically there was no reason we couldn’t continue and we’d come this far so why turn back now. A month at sea together is just what we needed. We did a lot of the boat maintenance prior to our arrival in Gran Canaria, so both engines were serviced, generator was serviced, water maker serviced. All Susan Ann II required was a full rigging check which is where Jerry the rigger came in. He gave us a glowing report which put my mind at rest for the crossing. I did buy some chandlery and extra safety kit that the Arc safety officer wanted us to have. We needed rations for the life raft, an extra radar reflector, some strobe lights but on the whole we were already very well prepared. One of the best parts of crossing with the Arc is that all the boats included meet the same basic set of criterion for safety so we knew that if we did need help, there were boats with all the same kit as us. I did get the Iridium Go working and signed up for an unlimited data plan so we could keep in touch with family and friends but most importantly to download as much weather as we wanted. We managed to do some sea trials to show the crew just how everything worked and to familiarise everyone with how SAII sails. This episode is mostly about our provisioning. For a month at sea you need a LOT of food! Budgets vary from boat to boat but we all enjoy our food and when at sea for a long time, there isn’t much more important than food. Food consumes your whole day! Our budget was approx £500 per person for the 3 weeks at sea with enough food to survive for 4 weeks but eat well for 3 weeks. Plus of course we planned to catch fish but you can’t count on it. Then you have to assume the water maker will stop working on day one and carry enough water for 5 people for potentially a month at sea. It all adds up to a whole lot of stuff so luckily we’ve got a catamaran with a tonne of storage space. We hope you enjoy this episode and stay tuned for next week when we set sail and cross our first ocean. ****PLEASE ALSO FOLLOW**** FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheDaleyAdventure/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedaleyadventure/ Website: https://www.thedaleyadventure.com ****MUSIC**** Epidemic sound https://player.epidemicsound.com Vacation by Scandinavianz @scandinavianz Music provided by Free Music for Vlogs youtu.be/1gF-Lh7EGG4 Happy Life by Fredji @fredjimusic Music provided by Free Music for Vlogs youtu.be/ykLexwujkww ****CAMERAS**** iPhone 7 Canon G7X II with Mini muff GoPro hero 4

At long last we get to relaunch our boat, a Bavaria 47 named Dream. A few nervous moments as the lift picks the boat up and carries it to the slipway. It's a few days before Christmas in this episode so we have a walk up into town to see the festivity preparations and meet up with some friends. Jenny gets her singing voice on. We spend the afternoon of Christmas day on the beach. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you found it informative or entertaining please give it a thumbs as it helps get YouTube to promote it outside of the existing subscribers. I attempt to show you how I go about photographing halfpipe with 12 year old Australian snowboarder Valentino Guseli. This is obviously a very basic guide and there is much more that goes into a successful shoot. Essential is a good halfpipe, a good rider and good weather. Camera equipment is not as important, a good wide angle, a zoom and a camera that can shoot around 5-6 frames per second will be fine for this. Being off the boat for a week in the tropics means only one thing. Attack of the black mould! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, Bonita's folks leave us and we are back to the boat with the weather still very stormy. Wanting to leave the anchorage and find some reception, we depart with the weather still very unpredictable. A great introduction back to boat life! Of course we need to change course and head for a more more protected anchorage due to the weather. Finally the sun returns and with it is the invasion of the black mould. With no air flow in the boat for over a week, things became a little smelly and then the invasion begun. We spend (well Bonita mostly) cleaning and scrubbing the boat with natural remedies and let you in on some secrets. With a clean boat again, we head back to town where Marley gets him self into some mischief... Patrons Only! We now have special feature videos in every episode for our patrons only. The weather in the Bahamas has finally turned favorable for us, and it's time to begin retracing our steps back to Florida. ** This channel is made possible by viewers like you. Please help us keep this channel creating great content by becoming a patron for as little as $1 an episode. Visit: https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing ** Traveling up the Sea of Abaco we tackle one small project that has been bugging us for awhile, and it's switching the covers on our favorite cockpit seats from Pacific Blue to Cadet Gray to match the rest of the boat. One of the few items we brought over from Serendipity to Elements, we love that these seats can go anywhere with you and give you so many options while using them in the cockpit. (Sport-a-Seat. https://www.sportaseat.com/ Use code MJSailing for $10 off each chair you purchase) We decided that of all the spots north of the Whale Cay Cut we could land for the night and spend a day or two, we really wanted to be back at Powell Cay. In our 2nd Volvo Ocean Race report on Leg 2 from Auckland to Itajai Brazil the boats are gybing down the Ice Gate at 35 knots in 35-40 knots of wind. Reports from Brunel, MAPFRE, Turn The Tide On Plastic, Scallywag, Vestas and the Daily Report on March 24.18. All report horrible conditions but great, exciting sailing. Scallywag has a equipmenyt failure that has them bybe away north for quieter conditions to fix it and thus losing more distance from the leaders. But Witty says they are only 100 miles behind and a lot of miles to go. Une fenêtre météo pour la traversée du Gulf Stream vers les Bahamas nous pousse finalement à descendre davantage vers le sud pour se préparer à cette excitante navigation à venir. So the true adventure begins! We had strong winds all the way culminating in a full gale and thunderstorms on approach to the Canary islands. Building a cruising sailboat We walk through the boat and I talk about the systems and equipment that I intend to build into my low-tech boat. This ranges from anchor windlass and storage of the anchor chain to electrical systems, to tanks, plumbing and sanitary, to navigation, radio and chart plotting, and heat and cooking. Tony's tool tip this time is the Einhell sabre saw. All music from these videos is available from: https://ynotb.bandcamp.com/album/the-sv-tapatya-tracks Follow the build, along with the story of my first cruising adventure (The Miss Molly I Adventures) on my website; http://www.svtapatya.com Support the build, the vlog, the blog and the writing on; https://www.patreon.com/sv_tapatya Or follow me on Instagram for various shots of my boating life; https://www.instagram.com/sv.tapatya This is the story of my building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk-rigged, schooner dory. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. If you want to support the project but don't fancy the Patreon thing, one-off Paypal donations can also be made via the button on my website. Thank you! Tony

In this video, Arrived in FLORIDA!, My son and I make it to Florida and check out the local beaches, wildlife and West Marine. I also do some necessary fiberglass work on my chain locker door. If you like my videos, please SUBSCRIBE to see more, and be sure to give this video a like, Thanks! In August of 2017 I sold everything and moved aboard Balachandra, a 1986 C&C44 sailboat, then sailed it over 300 nautical miles to Halifax Nova Scotia to spend a cold Canadian winter in the frozen waters of the North Atlantic. Sailing Balachandra is my YouTube sailing vlog inspired by other great channels such as Delos and La Vagabonde, which documents the sailing adventures of myself and the occasional crewmembers(s) as we navigate the east coast of North America and beyond. I also dive into lots of DIY boat projects both above and below decks, and share with you all of the pros and cons of living aboard in a cold climate. We have been anchored here at Highborne Cay in The Bahamas for about a week now waiting for the wind to die down from blowing at 25-30 mph. We have had a great time walking the beach and spearfishing when we can. We also spent some time keeping up on the maintenance of our Westerbeke Diesel Engine by changing the fuel filters and fixing a transmission fluid leak. Check those videos out here: * Found Oil in the Bilge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOWTXt7AwMs&t=9s * Changing Fuel Filters:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkkLMyGlMUo&t=624s We are now in our final days of being anchored at Highborne Cay in The Bahamas. We thought it would be nice to take the dinghy in to the marina to check out the local grocery store, which oddly smelled exactly like Kenzie's childhood dentist office back home..... It was a nice little store with a variety of items to buy. It even had a very large pet Macaw parrot that was fun to look at and listen to! We were aware that the prices of items would most likely be double the cost of what they would be back in the U.S. but, we were shocked to see that asparagus was $7.00 per lb. THAT is CRAZY!! We ended up buying cabbage, shelf stable milk, and a loaf of homemade bread. We also took in a small bag of garbage with us, which cost us $2.00 to get rid of. On the way to the marina and on the way back to our boat, the dinghy outboard was acting up and kept dying on us. We spent the rest of the night and half of the next day taking it apart trying to fix the problem. After taking it apart 7 times Randall found that the float bulb seemed to be the problem. Let's hope that's all that is wrong and we won't have any more problems with it. After fixing the outboard we decided to try going over to the nearby reef to spearfish, but didn't have any luck b/c of a curious shark. The reef was beautiful to swim around and had a variety of sea life to watch. We are so glad to have had this time to explore and experience Highborne Cay, but we are ready to move on further down the Exumas! *********************************************************************** THANK YOU for watching our videos and for SUBSCRIBING to our YouTube channel! Treated myself to a visit of the Interboot in Friedrichshafen in late 2017. So this are model year 2018 boats I'm bitching about. Everything said here is just my opinion. The complaints voiced are the textbook definition of first world problems. Just a nudge for the manufacturers. The last couple of steps one could take to propell a boats interior from very good to perfect. Or some minor things for potential buyers to maybe take into account. So don't get upset. ;) Dufour 310 Grand Large: http://www.dufour-yachts.com/en/yachts/grand-large-310 Dufour 382 Grand Large: http://www.dufour-yachts.com/en/yachts/grand-large-382 Thumbnail Image: https://web.archive.org/web/20180713093022/http://www.dufour-yachts.com/en/yachts/grand-large-382# I am not in any way affiliated with Dufour yachts. Fiberglass/Measuring and Mixing Tips - How to Measure two part, 3 part, 4 part, 5 part anything- Patrick Childress presents another one of his Sailboat How To Videos...How to precisely mix two part epoxy glue or paint or resin. Sail Life is another channel you may want to look at for good information on Fiberglass and Epoxy mixing and measuring. Also, Louise Sauzedde from ”Tips from a shipwright”shows the best methods for mixing and applying 521 Epoxy for fiberglass construction or repair of your boat in his video. Sauzedde is working on a 270 Series 43' Alden Schooner and making fiberglass floor timbers in this sailboat How To video. Fiberglass boat work, using West System, or other epoxy resin needs to be precise to work properly so it’s important to use the best method for mixing... Look at minute 1-3 of his video for the best overview of mixing, particularly for larger quantities. ▬▬ FOLLOW ALONG! ▬▬ ✩ Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/svBrickHouse ✩ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/SYBrickhouse or @SYBrickHouse ✩ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SVBrickhouse ✩ Support us - Buy a T Shirt...https://teespring.com/stores/Patrick-childress-sailing...and tell us you did in the comments sections on whatever video here is one your favorite sailing videos ✩ blog site: http://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com ✩ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/patrickchildress ✩ PayPal: Rebecca.childress@yahoo.com Patrick Childress Sailing, Sailboat How to Videos Sailing Videos #6 1 Chafe Protection and Port Leaks https://youtu.be/NPmMLxALjf4 2 More on Chafe Protection https://youtu.be/3MJegBCZEdQ 3 Sailboat Fuel Transfer at Sea https://youtu.be/GDmV-VemaXU 4 Anemometer Lubrication https://youtu.be/2xATulCi3hE 5 Anemometer Bearing Lubrication https://youtu.be/P_9pZX1LjyE 6 How to measure/mix 2 part https://youtu.be/O7wKT8de7Dw 7 Install a new Backstay https://youtu.be/O7wKT8de7Dw 20 Provisioning for Sailing an Ocean https://youtu.be/bZYRQpcIY60 21 New headstay after Profurl Roller Furling https://youtu.be/VPwrbg9NEYA 22 GalleyTips for Sailing an Ocean https://youtu.be/RqtMEjMZJA0 23 Glue a sail repair at sea https://youtu.be/ge3FcEiYl4w 24 Best Dinghy for Bluewater Sailboats https://youtu.be/YWPhSoIPXyE 25 7 Sailing Tips https://youtu.be/HJu26X6b8p8 26 3 Sailing Tips for Bluewater Sailboats https://youtu.be/Tcz7ZidQu-U 27 Sailboat Plumbing Replacement https://youtu.be/5vXzPmlZKto 28 Flares as Self Defense against Pirates, Reef hook, mainsail reefing and Deck scuppers https://youtu.be/lakH18f2_tA 29 Mikumi National Park Safari https://youtu.be/OYZuPcGKgto 30 Brick House Valiant 40 Tour Abovedeck https://youtu.be/vT6qZtij6us 31 Brick House Valiant 40 Tour Belowdeck https://youtu.be/g-SCowpKCWw 32 Brick House Valiant 40 Tour Below Deck #2 https://youtu.be/bRofFfb37eg Please, start your Amazon shopping here: https://amzn.to/2K9MmuA ▬▬ FOLLOW ALONG! ▬▬ ✩Instagram: http://www.Instagram.com/svBrickHouse ✩ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/SYBrickhouse ✩ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SVBrickhouse ✩Our blog: :http://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com ✩Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/PatrickChildress DISCLAIMER All information, images, statements, and comments are published in good faith and for general information and entertainment purposes only, and we do not make any warranties about the completeness, reliability and accuracy of this information, not for any product or technique displayed. I make travel vlogs sharing my ups and downs, adventures on motorbikes, sailboats, and vans. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I travel really cheap, free camping, cooking my own meals, being as efficient as possible. I make my income almost entirely on YouTube but it's really tight. Ad revenue, patreon, paypal donations, merchandise sales and affiliate links bring in about as much as a part time minimum wage job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough I go back to work, doing photography mostly, sometimes commercial video projects, but it takes me away from my travels and videos. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, DJI Mavic Pro, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, DIY tripods and lights. - What is your bike? 1999 Yamaha Vstar XVS1100 with a Champion Escort sidecar. - What kind of boat is that? It's a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 - What're your plans? Fix it up, run nothing but green power, sail off into the sunset. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live on the road with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make some decisions, avoiding places that ban dogs, and spending more time out in nature instead of in the cities. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go separate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? The top perk on my Patreon page is a live link of my location on google maps so you can get an active idea of where I am currently. If that's not an option for you there's also Instagram and Instagram stories that give you a much better idea of what I'm up to today.

After Canouan, s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) moves on to Bequia, the largest of the Grenadines islands and well set up for tourists. We moor in Port Elizabeth, the heart of island's commerce, with charming waterfront bars & restaurants, fresh fruit & veg stalls and lovely beaches. And we explore the island by bicycle, visiting Friendship Bay, Firefly Plantation, Industry Bay, Park Beach, Spring Bay and Hope Bay. As for the social scene, although clearly set up to have an active one, during our stay we found most of the venues almost deserted in the evenings, despite the local's efforts to offer live entertainment, inviting decors and large variety of dishes. In this episode while sailing into the anchorage in shallow uncharted water we suddenly go from 10 feet to 1 foot of depth in seconds! Exploring Cuba.
It's clear that we've been away for a couple of months, as we have to get the hang of it again. A couple of unwanted jibes, a new steering thingie for the dinghy and nothing a small bandage or gel coat repair can't fix... In this interactive 360 video we sail from Kythnos to Syros, another 360 test with another position of the VIRB 360
At the Ice gate on Leg 7 Dongfend, Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag, Turn The Tide On Plastic all report their situations plus the Daily Report for Friday March 24.
Adam and I spend a few days in a damaged marina in the south of Tortola catching up on some jobs on the boat. Here we meet a good friend of Adams, Cuz, who is creating his own adventure. He bought a hurricane damaged boat, and is aiming to rebuild it back to its former glory, to be able to run surf charters on the coast of Costa Rica! A great challenge that we look forward to following that’s for sure. We then spend some time together, just the two of us, exploring the beauty of the British Virgin Islands and get to see some amazing places where we happen to be the only boat, which is unheard of in these parts! The winds pick up to 30kts so we hunker down and hide from the wind in any sheltered anchorage we can find. We find ourselves spending much more time at the beach bars than we usually do haha. More friends join us and we get great catch ups and cruises with the Blackman family before we all go our separate ways.
