Segel getaped.

Ep14 - Mercs to Waiheke & Coro. Then Europe - The Chapter - Family of Six - Motorhome & Yacht Travel
We explore the Great Mercury Island and head around Coromandel to Waiheke before sailing back to Coromandel for a while. We buy an old sailing dinghy on the way and then unload 'Town Fox' and put her back on the mooring. From here we head off to visit family and friends before flying to the UK to pick up a motorhome where we will explore Europe for 8 months. We are a family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a camper in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.
You asked for it... here it is, Starship Friendship BOAT TOUR! This video shows above decks, look for Part 2 to see below. It's been quite a journey - from the comfort of a traditional path to the excitement of new love and the thrill of adventure. After selling all the material things we used to work so hard for to sail thousands of miles around the world, we are living in our ocean castle… and sooooo excited to share our home with you. Welcome aboard the Starship! Buying the Starship was the smartest move we made in this process. There are new boats and old boats and the time between to make adventure happen is precious. We wanted to set sail right away… and we needed to have a parachute (just in case all our dreams were really just wishes). Turns out, we love this life, just like we knew we would, and we love our boat too. We have lived aboard our boat for almost a year. Life is much different today that it was back then. At the beginning of our journey, we had some tough choices to make about our boat/home purchase. Originally, we were looking at blue water monohulls, but the boats in our price range needed surveys and survey reports suggested a lot of work and time on the hard. In the end, we decided to buy a Lagoon Catamaran. We didn't know each other very well and we had limited sailing experience. It seemed wise to buy a manageable and popular boat that would be easy to learn on and (just in case) in demand if we decided to sell. It turns out that the Starship is awesome, we love her, and she's an awesome home. :) Music: Ambient Lounge Chill House To Dream Wonderful Relaxation Chill out music Playlist Live, love & Sail Episode 30 Season Alpha LOVE STARSHIP FRIENDSHIP? Docking can be incredibly challenging and result in lots of damage to your boat, to other boats and to docks. Watch the video to see some simple tips to do this right. Find out about the dock & area Direction of prop walk Prep fenders, dock lines & lifeline gate Ideally, approach into the wind Assign crew roles Slow down! Beam of boat should make contact first Crew steps off and ties off We already took notes! We have included all of the things we said in the video here, so you can just copy and paste what you need for your notes. Learn to sail online with our Catamaran course https://masterclass.nautilussailing.com/pages/free-lesson-offer APPROACHING A DOCK Docking should instill fear, trembling, and extreme caution in every sailor. Every time I bring a sailboat into a slip or to a dock, my heart still beats faster, and that’s actually a good thing. Whenever you try cramming a beautiful sailboat into a tight space surrounded by millions of dollars in yachts, and you add wind and current and prop walk, this makes for a challenging situation. We recommend when you’re working on your docking, find a nice long dock, and ideally practice your docking in calm conditions. We’re big fans of practicing docking at fuel docks. These are usually longer docks, not too many boats around, and it just gives you a little bit more room to maneuver. On this video, we’re just going to cover the basics. There’s a whole science to docking, lots of advanced techniques but we’re just going to look at the simple aspects of docking today. It’s really important, before you come into an unfamiliar marina, dock, or slip, you want to find out about the area. Four things that you want to know: Number one, you want to know the wind direction. Where is the wind coming from? Which way is it going to push your boat? Number two, is there any current in the marina, and which way is that going to push your boat? The third thing is hazards. Often, you might find yourself in an area where there’s an old dock, maybe a strip of wood coming off, maybe there’s a rock in the area. You want to know those hazards. The fourth thing is the height of the dock. This is really important, because we need to know the height at which to put our fenders so they protect our boat when we come in to dock. Another thing you want to know is the effect of prop walk on your sailboat. Most sailboats, when you put the boat in reverse, are going to pull the boat to port. Before we make our approach into the dock, there’s a couple other things that we want to get ready. We want to tie our fenders on. We then want to run our dock lines, one from the bow cleat, one from the stern cleat. Make sure they’re not going over the lifelines or around the stanchion. We also want to open up the lifeline gate, just so we’re ready to jump off on the dock. When you’re coming into a slip or a dock, really important that you plan your approach into the wind. It’s going to make things a lot easier, and just help slow your boat down. As you line up to come in with the dock, you want to be going slow. I can’t emphasize this enough. You really, really want just barely enough speed so that you have steerage. You want the boat going as slow as possible as you approach the dock. Talk with your crew. Make sure everyone is clear on their responsibilities and how they can help you dock. When the boat is one to two boat lengths from the dock, you’re going to want to go ahead and put the boat in neutral. What this is going to do is, it’s going to help you control your speed and just glide in slowly to the dock. As you make your final approach to the dock, it’s really important that you come in at as shallow an angle as possible. As the boat gets really close to the dock, you’re going to want to start pivoting the bow away from the dock. The goal here, when the boat makes contact with the dock, you want the beam of the boat, the widest part, usually near the shrouds, to gently kiss the dock. Right when the boat is about to make contact with the dock, the helmsman can feather the boat in reverse. This means just giving a little bit of reverse and go into neutral, a little bit of reverse, and go into neutral. You don’t want to slam the boat into reverse at this point, or prop walk can pull your stern away from the dock. When the boat has come to a full and complete stop, the crew with the dock lines can step off the boat and go ahead and cleat those lines off to get your boat attached to the dock. Warn you crew ahead of time you don’t want anyone leaping or jumping off the boat. As the boat comes in, if you have people trying to make flying leaps off onto the dock, it’s just a recipe for a disaster. PS. Inventory Of Missing Parts For Mercruiser that the mechanic lost. This is turning out to be more challenging and expensive than we thought it would. It is like they take a part, then type marine on the front of it, then double the cost. Also, there are many flavors of this 3.0L engine to choose from in our boat. We have been calling many vendors on this and you really need to shop around when working on a boat. The same part from one vendor could be double the cost of another vendor, but don't stick with just one vendor. The vendor that was such a deal on on part for your boat, is now double the cost of another part. Now that that is said you also have to watch shipping, boat vendors seem to love to get you on shipping, some will offer free shipping, then you have to get to a certain dollar amount. Dazcats Hissy Fit (1495) and Easy Tiger (995) are definitely shaking off the cobwebs as they fly around the cans in this first race of the season. Easy Tiger is sailing for the first time with new partnership owner - we reckon he's pretty happy with how she performed. Hissy Fit was certainly looking smart with her new black sails and she was able to give her new rudder Tfoils a good testing in the stiff breeze and chop...

Years ago, I came up with three rules that can, will, change your life. (assuming you, in your deific perfection, aren't already applying them) Here they are, with one big heavy sort of meta rule. No Excuses. That's the basic basis of rule 2. Time to start adding the donation part. Look, this is getting pretty to be a pretty big deal pretty fast. I'd like to expand and continue this, and a little bit of green helps me stay flexible. paypal.me/santaroga other methods are coming soon.
Early in the morning we left the Tobago Cays and are on our way to Union Island to check out. Before we arrive in Grenada, Nina sees a small island on the horizon and claims property for it. We anchor with Seatramp on 2.50 m water depth and go to explore the island with the Dinghy. With a lot of imagination Nina already plans the house construction... We go on for lunch to Petit St. Vicent before we unfortunately have to leave for Grenada and our dear friends have to fly home... #accidentatsea #holeontheboat We run aground, the sun was to low and we couldn’t see a thing and we hit the coral. Not a good experience I have to say, a bit of a damage on the keel, but luckily we have the boat booked to come out of the water next week so we will be able to fix it sooner rather than later. We help a boat that was on the rocks and tow it back to the anchorage. Fortunately not to much damage on his boat. Sad to say that the girls are leaving this week, but Jessica will be back in August for a longer period of time. Would you like to become our Patron and support us on this adventure? Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
The history of manned human flight is generally thought to be a little over a century old. Or is it? In this episode, I dive deep into the past and uncover a tradition practiced by sailors over a thousand years ago that involved the first human flights. My name is Chris and I love history. Subscribe to my channel and join me on a journey to uncover the past and how it influences our lives today. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe-5... CLICK THE BELL to know when new Videos are up! I've always loved history and uncovering the why's and wherefore's of things. The first question that pops into my head when I see a new place is what happened here in the past to make this place what it is today? Who lived here and what did they value? What did the believe? I believe that it's only by understanding our past that we can live in our own individual present. Buying a dirt cheap sailboat to sail the world in was the first of many hurdles to overcome. In this episode we fly to Sicily to see a Kadey Krogen 38 sailboat called Hot Chocolate, a bluewater sailboat under 40 feet that will become our tiny sailboat home. This marks the beginning of a pretty life-changing sailing adventure. If you enjoyed this sailing video then LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to get notified when our new videos go live. Nel video dico che sono partito da san Nicola, ma la stanchezza mi ha giocato lo scherzetto: in realtà volevo dire che ero partito alle 4 del mattino da Hammamet, dove da due mesi ho casa. Una casa vera, intendo

This week we continue our adventures in the Ionian Islands as we head for Paxos and Corfu. We leave Meganisi and need to navigate the Lefkas Canal, this is the second canal we have conquered in weeks (after the Corinth Canal) and we enjoy the challenge. The canal is well signed and the bridge opens on the hour and we are lucky to make it. The wind is light during our sail towards Paxos, 7 knots and we reach a constant 4 knots boat speed. We are fortunate we are in no rush and are happy to just be sailing. As we approach Paxos, a small bird joins the crew and is happy with the location. Paxos is beautiful, we see the bluest water we have ever seen and we spend days mesmerised and feel fortunate to have the bay to ourselves. We move further north to Corfu and enjoy the 'city' life. Corfu is a vibrant metropolitan city and it's really nice as a contrast to the Cyclades during winter. The weather continually changes during the week and we spend the days finding different peaceful anchorages. We spend time in Ipsos, Stefanos and Kassiopi on Corfu Island and they are all pleasant anchorages for Kawai. This is the last stop in Greece, as we next head to Croatia. Follow our Journey Please subscribe if you want to see more sailing videos, and if you liked the video please give it a thumbs up as this helps us. If you have a question please ask, we will always get back to you :) About us: Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai. We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the next year we hope to sail to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Gibraltar, Canary Islands and then across the Atlantic Ocean. Jase loves making travel videos and we decided to upload to youtube to share our adventure. We really hope you enjoy and feel free to drop us a comment any time to chat or subscribe to follow along :) Instagram Jason: https://www.instagram.com/jase_stephens1/?hl=en Tracey: https://www.instagram.com/trace_y02/?hl=en Music 1. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In this episode, our boat is still ashore in the dry marina "Port Navy Service" and we continue our Todo list. The SPW VariProp rotary wing propeller is assembled and we show how we build and connect the Rutland 1200 wind generator and the solar modules. The power supply of the ORIZON should now be secured. If we do not feel like working on the ship, we make trips and explore the area.
