We had been waiting to head to the Bahamas for over four months but our trip kept being delayed by all the things that continuously stoped working on our catamaran, from the AIS to the Auto Pilot, Generator and Inverter, we simply couldn’t get things to work all together for months! But after patiently waiting, it was finally time to head to the Bahamas, we prepared the Pet import permit to travel internationally, provisioned for three months worth of food and supplies, and the day before the weather window opened we received the USCG Registration of our sailing vessel. In this episode, we walked to the Pier and took the famous cable car to downtown San Francisco. We explored the beach and went up high on the rocks overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The kids had fun in just about every playground we came by. On our last day in SF, our friend Ben invited us on his trimaran to sail the Gulf of San Francisco. NEWS FLASH: We have RETURNED to China! The nomadic life is now over; the irony is that we have returned to the opposite - 100% stuck inside our apartment for 14 days of quarantine. BUT, the journey back to Qingdao from Kuala Lumpur via Xiamen was fascinating. Our plane first touched down in Xiamen and they extracted us first from the plane. We were escorted by a hazmat suited woman to medical where we had multiple temperature checks before proceeding through immigration. The immigration officer asked us many questions and was reluctant to let us pass since we had flown via Seoul 7 weeks ago....there has been a recent outbreak in Seoul. While the journey through Xiamen and back to our flat in Qingdao was long and cumbersome, we met the kindest people who despite language and cultural barriers, could not have been more supportive of us. The Chinese government is doing all it can to avoid the resurgence of the virus, pouring a massive amount of money into the processing of international passengers. The Fishermans Knot is a simple but effective way to join two lengths of rope together. The knot is more secure than a sheet bend under light load as you can tighten the overhand knots around the main lines which prevent the knot from coming undone before load is put on the lines. The Fishermans knot is preferred to tying a sheet bend when the rope diameters are the same. If you are going to have constant high levels of load on the joined lines the Fishermans Knot will become hard to untie, if you are join ropes which will stay under constant load are Sheet Bend will work better. Learning how to tie a fisherman knot is easy, most people already know how to tie a overhand knot, the Fishermans knot is tied by combining two overhand knots. Bonjour à tous!⛵ En 2016 nous avons changé notre mât en bois (gréement aurique) contre un en alu (gréement Marconi)!, Les fuites sont plus importante qu'avant... il faillait trouver une astuce... L’inconvénient des mâts traversants c'est l'eau qui coule le long du mât et rentre à l'intérieur ☔! Avant de pouvoir d’entamer un gros chantier afin de palier à ce problème, nous avons trouvé quelques solutions afin de pouvoir quitter le bateau quelques jours 🌧sans s'inquiéter de rentrer et d'avoir de l'eau à éponger....🧽 Et en plus on récolte de l'eau de pluie pour nettoyer le pont! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 QUI SOMMES-NOUS? Hello Everyone! So fun to have you all following along on our trip! As you saw in the last episode we sailed back to home base where we finished installing some new electronics including our radar dome and wind indicator. Ended up becoming a bigger project than we thought having trouble running cables through the mast. Finally pulled everything together and made one last Costco haul. We have too much fun there.... And then back to Key West for a couple days to wait for our weather window before FINALLY heading over to the Bahamas!
