This weeks episode we say goodbye suburbia and head back to boat life! After 8 weeks back in sunny Queensland we pack up our worldly possessions (again) and haul them half way around the world back to beautiful boat life and all the adventures that come with it! Were usually big fans of cheap and cheerful travel and whilst this time was no exception we did take the opportunity to slow down the pace a little and make a few stops along the way. We raced down to Waikiki beach on Honolulu, Hawaii. We overnighted (and almost froze to death) in New York (NYC) after an exhausting stomp through manhattan to get from JFK to Newark airport. then we cruised through Miami en-route to Grenada. We overnighted not far from the airport in Grenada so that we would arrive at the boat the next morning fresh and ready to work. We had no idea what we were walking into. After 3 long days on the road we finally made it back to our floating home, the Millennial Falcon. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! We also share our naming ceremony with you as we rename our yacht from genii 2 to Saoirse. An emotional time for us as our dreams to one day sail out of South Africa get closer and closer. Nós acreditamos que o local mais próximo para nos abrigar de uma previsão de 36 nós (inéditos pra gente até então) seria Mayreau. Porém, não contávamos com o fato de que todo mundo pensaria a mesma coisa. Essa região do Caribe é lotada e todo mundo busca Mayreau para abrigo. Acabamos deixando 60m de corrente e 20m de cabo (em 17m de profundidade) para aguentar o vento, mas um iate inconveniente parou bem perto da gente. Quando a nossa corrente esticou a gente acabou indo parar bem perto dele. Perto a ponto deles acenderem as luzes na nossa cara... desagradável. Mudamos para o outro lado da ancoragem e nossa âncora arrastou dessa vez. A gente chegou bem perto de um outro barco e eu acabei ligando o motor para tirar nossa popa que estava a uns 5 metros da popa deles. Não foi legal. Parecia que a nossa âncora simplesmente não pegava no fundo de coral. Foi uma noite do cão! Cansados, resolvemos voltar pra Tobago Cays, porque lá sabíamos que (mesmo disputada) a ancoragem era melhor. Voltamos e passamos mais uns 3 dias só curtindo o que realmente é a cerejinha do bolo do Caribe. As lindíssimas imagens do drone do Claudinho falam por si só!

O doutor Anderson Wilnes, velejador morador de Arraial do Cabo fundou uma escola de vela sem fins lucrativos, chamada “Filhos do vento”. Nesse vídeo ele nos contou como criou a escola, a burocracia envolvida e a satisfação que recebe em troca desse trabalho voluntário que faz uma enorme diferença na vida de várias crianças de escolas públicas.
