This was meant to be a chill sailing trip with mates… but things got *wild* fast. In just 13 minutes, we got hit by a blue bottle jellyfish, lost a phone overboard, popped our tender, and still somehow had one of the best nights of our lives. We sailed at 7 knots through the stunning waters of Malaysia and Thailand, anchored at a bay where people pay over $2,000 a night to stay, and threw down an epic BBQ on the beach with music, drinks, and good vibes all around. Come along for the madness — this one’s got it all: sailing, chaos, laughs, and a whole lotta beauty. 📍 Sailing Langkawi (right pasted Thailand ) 🛥️ Our boat: Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 39i 🎥 Subscribe for more off-grid sailing life and ocean misadventures! Sailing from Chaldiki all the way up to the thermal springs of Loutra Edipsou was a challenging but rewarding sail. It took us 3 days cuz of the strong and inconstant winds. On our way up we stop first at the pine forest by the sea which is still a pretty weird experience and then on a hided bay where we sow a glaxy trimaran which is one of the weirdest boat in the world.
Thinking of buying an older sailboat? WATCH THIS FIRST. I break down the top red flags and costly mistakes people make when buying used fiberglass monohull sailboats from the 1970s to 1990s. From soft decks and blistered hulls to rotten bulkheads and sketchy keel bolts — this is the stuff that turns a “cheap” sailboat into a financial nightmare. In this video, I also share the painful story of my own mistake: buying a 70's Seafarer 31 that looked like a dream… but quickly became a disaster. 🧭 Chapters: 00:00 Intro 00:26 What things to avoid 05:38 My worst boat ever 06:59 Example bad and good boat on Yachtworld 20:12 Final Thoughts Credits: @bluecollarsailing @twohalf-hitches @CaptainAction @livingforsail @RVLifeNOW @emsailing1625 @DoWhateverfilms @FaithsWind @cdsailor @AskCaptainChris @scubadubacorporation9279 @windspeedahead @WildlyIntrepid @costablancayachtservices6074 @Sailing.Artemis @BigEasySailing 💬 Have your own horror story or boat-buying advice? We are big fans of Cats on The Marine Channel and this beauty from Bali really impressed with multiple configurations that mean it can suit everything from owner operators to charter companies. The 54 ft length seems to hit a sweet spot too, with hulls that will comfortably accommodate proper double berths that endow this boat with the kind of space that you'd only find on a 65ft plus mono hull. Huge thanks to the team from Bali for access to the boat on what was clearly a very busy day at the Palma Boat show for you! The Lifetime Membership from 2024 is $190, including $70 for the PIYC kit (burgee, plaque and Marine Corps ID tag). Final project to complete to leave. Now that this is done, we will be leaving next week and starting our cruising journey. Thank you for following along with us for the past 3 years as we worked hard to get this boat ready to leave. She is now 90% complete and enough for us to live comfortable. This paint is just temporary as we needed something to count the amount of chain that we will be putting out while on anchor. Here it is! The all new Riviera 4300 Sports Express. I believe this will be a boat that can appeal to those of you who are stepping out of a multi engine outboard boat but also anyone wanting a really top quality, super functional and ultra capable boat that will serve you perfectly for big days on the water, but is also an extremely comfortable overnighter or coastal cruiser. Once again Riviera gave me full access, even though we had big swells and strong wind this day I was free to test the boat to her full potential - and so we did just that. This is not only an outstanding machine it is also a bit more welcoming than some of the bigger Riv's we feature on the channel as the price point is comparable to a Boston Whaler or Grady White. I can see this being a great first Riviera for many people from all around the world. I've said this many times before now but I believe these guys are one of the best boat builders in the world right now. If you get the opportunity to inspect a 4300 Sports Express then go take a look at it and pay attention to all of the little details on deck and down below, you will be impressed. NOW SOLD! Outbound Yachts need no word of introduction. Celebrated by world cruisers and featured consistently on such sites as Practical Sailor (who dedicated one of their Youtube Video to the Outbound 46 - Lady K Sailing), or Attainable Cruising with a lengthy and wonderful report by John Harries, or Bluewater Sailing Boat Reviews, which you can also read online, plus numerous publications and owner's reviews. The Outbound 46 has a well-deserved reputation as the gold standard of blue water cruising sailboats. Designed by renowned US naval architect Carl Schumacher, built to the highest standards and continually refined over more than 20 years in production, the Outbound 46 will take you comfortably across any ocean. Her solid GRP hull, encapsulated keel and high righting moment, she is also a nimble, quick but stable boat that is specially designed and built for serious offshore voyagers. Yet, when many go-anywhere yachts compromise on deep, cave-like interiors, sluggish pace and more classic lines with closed-in cockpit and steep companionway, the Outbound 46 bring you all the comfort and feeling of a modern yacht, with a wide sugar-scoop transom and open cockpit for easy access, bright and airy interior with large windows, beautifully handcrafted cherry wood interior and top quality stainless steel portholes, this yacht combines the best traditional ship building can offer, while offering a modern sailor what they need to feel comfortable. Built by Outbound Yachts in Xiamen City, China, next door to the Nordhavn and HH Catamaran factories, amongst others, the Outbound 46 is still in production. So far 80 Outbound 46 have been built, with many orders continuing into the future. Bright Moments is hull number 33. All Outbound Yachts are semi-customised and built to order, with each owner working with the factory to refine their yacht around their needs. For Bright Moments’s owners, years of research and discussions with Bluewater cruising specialists, this meant designing the interior of their yacht with a view to live on board in comfort and independence in the most remote parts of the world and cross 30,000 nautical miles. Storage and intelligent weight distribution were taken into consideration, with every space used for dedicated storage for supplies, personal items, tools, spare parts, sailing and safety equipment. Bright Moments is a work of art with few equals around the world for anyone looking for the perfect world explorer. Please read on and click on the Additional Descriptions for the detailed inventory and list of recent upgrades. This truly beautiful yacht is continually maintained and improved at no expense spared. Her owners are on board and will welcome you for an inspection or via video call if you wish. To make sure she is fully checked and ready to go, they have also commissioned a full in and out of water survey with Don Buckley, a well-known Australian surveyor dedicated to the Bluewater cruising community who flew to Fiji to inspect Bright Moments on the 10th of September 2025, just as we prepare to launch the boat on the market. Please get in touch and we will send you the report. Bright Moments comes turn key and with everything on board for you to start your journey now. -------------------- For a bit of info about Nautilus Yacht Management, we are a boutique-style brokerage devoted to high quality cruising yachts and to the cruising community since our launch in Sydney, Australia in 2011. Man Overboard Devices have come a long way in the last few years with more features packed into smaller devices, but with all these features it can sometimes be difficult to understand what they all do. I spoke to Wescom Group's Jack Sharland to find out more about sMRT Alert and what all the acronyms, such as DSC and AIS, actually mean. I also met up with Fenton Long and Paul Pournaris who are the distributors of sMRT Alert in Australia. Find out more about sMRT Alert at https://www.smrtsos.com/products/distress-beacons

From the extensive weather protection and additional anchor line spools, to the unpainted aluminum finish, it's clear that safety, ease of maintenance, and contingencies were a priority for them.

If I were brand new to sailing or boating or I just got a boat and it didn't come with an organized core set of tools, I would have loved for someone to tell me what those core tools are to have onboard. With sailboats the answer isn't always big tools or more tools. Sometimes it's small ones, and ones that can do multiple jobs while storing away small, but it's always ones that you can get a good amount of force on as most things you interact with will be corroded. These are the tools that, after about 6 years of sailboat ownership and number of coastal cruises, I wouldn't leave the dock without, and which are sufficient to do most jobs on the boat that could need immediate attention. The goal is to cary as few tools as possible while still getting the job done. Fewer tools means less weight, less stuff to keep organized, and less searching for specialty sizes or types of tools, and tools that work well in small spaces. I've got all the tools listed below with links for easy purchase. I've added some tool sets and a couple additional pieces you may find useful. The Ocean Race Europe will take place between 10th August and 21st September 2025, following a debut event in the summer of 2021. The racing is in IMOCA yachts, the same as in the Vendée Globe, but this time with four crew and an OBR (On Board Reporter) who will document the action on board. It will build on the foundations of the inaugural race and will be held under the banner of “Connecting Europe” with a race course that stretches from the Baltic Sea, through the North Sea and English Channel, into the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean before a finish in Boka Bay, Montenegro - the first time The Ocean Race will compete on the Adriatic Sea. The start is in Kiel, Germany, and there are stopovers in Portsmouth in the UK, a fly-by in Matosinhos / Porto in Portugal, then in to the Mediterranean and on to Cartagena in Spain, Nice in France, Genova in Italy, followed by the final leg round to Boka Bay in Montenegro. Seven teams are taking part: Team Malizia skippered by Boris Herrmann, Team Holcim - PRB skippered by Rosalin Kuiper, Team Paprec Arkéa skippered by Yoann Richomme, Team Be Water Positive skippered by Scott Shawyer, Allagrande Mapei Racing skippered by Ambrogio Beccaria, Biotherm skippered by Paul Meilhat and Team AMAALA skippered by Alan Roura. I recently went to Portsmouth to talk with Phil Lawrence, Race Director for The Ocean Race Europe, Peter Rusch, the Communication Director, and Pip Hare, who will be competing on Team Be Water Positive.
