Powered by a Yanmar 75hp diesel engine, the boat has been regularly serviced, ensuring smooth and reliable performance. Other notable features include a full electronics suite with autopilot, chartplotter, wind, depth, and speed instruments, plus a bow thruster for ease of maneuvering in tight spaces. Our grand plan was a west-to-east crossing of the Atlantic, and we set sail with high hopes. Initially, everything was smooth sailing, but sometimes, sailing, like life, doesn't go according to plan. Our journey took an unexpected turn when we were battered by relentless rain and squalls. To make matters worse, our windvane broke—for the second time! With 2,200 nautical miles to the Azores and only 70 to return to St. Martin, the choice was clear. It's always better to face a delay than to tackle a major problem at sea. So, very disappointed, we turned back, getting drenched by a huge downpour on our return to St. Martin. We repaired the windvane, bought some new foul-weather gear, and found a better weather window.
