TONIGHT! Live from the Boat! See the woodstove running, visit with us on Arabella. 5 p.m. ET for Patreon members: https://www.patreon.com/acorntoarabella Join now and get the invite! We start with hot springs and Robin's birthday and then move on to Bob Emser's shop in Illinois (The Art of Boat Building), receiving some much-anticipated and beautiful pieces for Victoria the dinghy and getting a look at parts of his Haven 12 1/2 named Skylark. His channel and the things he makes are helpful and lovely. If you haven't checked out his tool making videos, boatbuilding videos, or the series he did about our dinghy, it's time. @TheArtofBoatBuilding And finally, back to our DIY wooden boat that's been waiting patiently in Camden, Maine for our return. We're so glad to have you with us. Thanks for watching. -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat supports A2A! Boat life = boat work, amiright? Just because our catamaran is brand new, doesn't mean we don't need to spend a lot of time doing repairs, maintenance and tweaks. In fact, Ruby Rose 2 needs a lot of setting up, so we're actually doing more boat work than normal. But what better place to get caught up on all our boat jobs, right? Koh Phangan is so chill and beautiful and the perfect place to base ourselves while we get Ruby Rose 2 perfected. Thanks for watching! Andreas Johansson, Nimbus Project Manager: "My name is Andreas Johansson and I'm the Nimbus Project Manager of the new Nimbus W11. The W11 is built with functional Scandinavian design as a core element in true Nimbus tradition, executed with care to ensure the best comfort and experience for the user. It also features the award- winding Nimbus sidewalk design which provides easy and safe movement on deck. The W11 is built on the same well balanced stepped hull as the T11 and the C11 with proven great high-speed properties in combination with a low planning thresholds. The Nimbus W11 will be equipped with a Quick Qyro Stabilizer which offers up to 95% roll reduction at sea, and this will make being and living on the boat a lot more safe and comfortable." Jonas Gothberg, Nimbus Commercial Director: "Quick is is a strategic partner for Nimbus. We chose Quick because of many reasons. One is they have a broad variety of products; everything from bow thrusters to winches, and now we also implement the gyro in the system. We also actually chose Quick, because the Gyro is of course well functioning but it's easy to maintenance and easy to install, doesn't demand anything and they have very good cooperation with Quick, and above all they are very nice people to work with!" Gineico Marine interview Sergio Sagramoso, President and Founder of Pardo Yachts, on why they continue to choose the Quick Gyro for their boats! "Gyros - EVERYBODY wants them... they see it as an essential part of their boat." "Good afternoon, welcome to the show. We are Pardo Yachts Miami and this is our stand. Here we have a Pardo 43 and it's equipped with a X13 Quick Gyro We have a 52 GT here which has an X19 Quick Gyro. And we have a Pardo 50 over there with an X19 Quick Gyro also Pardo 38 has an X7 Quick Gyro. In the back here we have a Pardo 60 with an X25 Quick Gyro. Basically every model that we sell has a Quick Gyro. Out of 135 boats we have in the water, 130 have Quick Gyros. It's a most stellar option for us right now. Q: And what do you think the reason is? A: ... For gyro, everybody wants them on their boats. I mean it's just a no-brainer. Everybody wants to have the boat stay quiet and not move and rock with the waves - and they see it as a essential part of a boat. Q: Any reason why you pick Quick over any other brands? A: Well we like the fact that Quick is air cooled not water cooled. We have a lot of debris and vegetation under the water here so they tend to get clogged quite a bit if it's water cooled - so makes it simpler for the maintenance... then to keep the customer happy!" Contact the Team and we'll be able to discuss the best gyro to suit your boat. 📍 QUEENSLAND HEAD OFFICE & SHOWROOM G45, 76-84 Waterway Drive, Coomera, Qld, 4209 https://www.gineicomarine.com.au/ 👉 AUSTRALIA (+61) 7 5556 0244 👉 NEW ZEALAND (+64) 21 275 7608 👉 EMAIL: Sales@Gineicomarine.com.au

With another great year of making memories on the water it was once again time to lift GTR out out of the water for the winter. We setup a time lapse video to record the lift out. Getting GTR up and out of the water was not and issue with four line attached to help control the boat in the freshening breeze. It was not that easy getting the mast out, with some work required to replace the electrical wire in the mast she needed to be lifted out. This lift out was made difficult due the increasing breeze and rain. We were lucky to have am experience team around us and many hands to control the mast as we lifted it up and laid it down flat. With the boat safely up on the block for the winter the team at bottom up boats will now go into maintenance mode to get the ship ready for the 2024 season. We have lots of great footage from the year on the water and now have the time on our side produce more content than ever.

So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). The last season has been a dream coming true… we are exploring the Brazilian coast with OUR BOAT that we called Odd.. But wait? What happened to the house? Boat life in a marina consists of completing maintenance jobs on your sailboat. Today a rigging check, tomorrow up the mast again to clean the rail. As live aboard sailors who prefer to anchor off remote islands, being in a town also gives as the chance to get medical attention, this time for broken bones. Unfortunately it is our kitten Mocha who had her paw stepped on. Off to the vet for an x-ray. As time will tell it is our eldest son Finn, forging a life as a professional athlete, who may need medical attention the most. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis

Here in Long Beach, CA at Alamitos Bay Marina we have a boat auction twice per year. Come with me and watch people bid on sailboats and power boats. This time the bidding goes nuts; some boats sell for a lot and some don't get a bid at all even though the opening bid at the auction for "boats in the water" is only $400. These boats are usually in pretty bad shape but this time there was one sailboat, a Cal 46, that was in really good condition and the selling price was on par. Last auction a lot of sailboats didn't get a bid or sold for very cheap but this auction was different because more sailboats sold at this auction. This was a fun boat auction to watch but the inventory was a little low if you ask me. I've seen a lot more sailboats at past auctions so be sure to subscribe if you want to know when the next auction is happening and see my next boat auction video. We couldn’t find any video on how to service our sail drives so we made our own from start to finish: Scraping props, removing props, line cutters and sail drives, removing the grooves, replacing the seals and o-rings, re-installing sail drives, prepping and painting the sail drive, reinstalling folding props and line cutters. We hope this is helpful to you. Also, note the information listed below! We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? Night climbing the Enchanted Tower in New Mexico, a long-time goal for Steve and Robin, is just as beautiful as they thought it might be. This is last episode of our Organ Mountain rock climbing trip has yes, THAT big question... the popped question. Fitting that these two get engaged with helmets on, as perhaps all sensible people should. Steve shows off a cool little knife and a bit of info about gear left on mountain climbing trails, we get some great Organ Mountain views into the drone camera, and we shove off toward the coast to the wooden boat we miss so much. Lots to do, and more adventures to have. Sailing is a roller coaster in so many ways. Time in the boatyard is never one of the highs it has to be said, but so far our lifts have gone smoothly and to plan. Not this time! I did have plans to tackle some areas of the boat that I had never had apart before, not because of any apparent issue, but just for piece of mind before our Atlantis crossing. Silly of me to think there would be time for non urgent preventative maintenance! Boats have a habit of giving you something pressing to do just when you thought you had time to breath. Our issue is the base of the compression post which has now moved about 10mm down on the starboard side. This is a serious situation that will require the mast to be un stepped and the compression post taken out. It is something we have been monitoring ever since we bought Fair Isle as it was clear that there had been movement in this area in the past which the surveyor thought was probably settlement when new. Well it seems that wasn't the case and having the rigging all up to proper tension now has prompted it to sink some more so something clearly has to be done. The good thing is we are in the right place to get this done properly along with many other boat issues. We are very happy with the top sides now and having fun meeting some interesting people. Cyclone Dust Collector Separator for Shop Vac Separator Dust Powder Filter for Vacuums Dust Extractor Accessories Woodworking The idea was to build a very compact all in one woodworking station for a small garage or a small workshop. The woodworking station has a firm stand, but can also be moved easily, watch part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0BNEKGZLTw In this part I will show you how I implemented the dust collector, filter and vacuum motor, no vacuum cleaner is needed. The motor is a standard vacuum cleaner motor. I removed it from an old vacuum cleaner, but even new such motors cost very little (in some countries less than 20 dollars) the suction switches on automatically. In this video I show how it works https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQCAuytiWuA The idea of this dust collection system can in principle also be applied to a workbench or other machines because it is very compact and can be easily customized. next I would like to integrate the router. #table saw with diy integrated shop vac #all in one woodworking station #table saw with best dust collection #workbench with table saw and router #diy dust collector

Learn about the investment plans for Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina (BHSM). #chinesefishingfleet #sailing #boatlife #familysailing #cookingatsea #sailingfamily #sail We set sail from the Galapagos across the Pacific to the Marquesas islands in French Polynesia. We expected to see very few ships and be pretty much isolated for most of this trip but did not expect to see hundreds of Chinese fishing boats on the outskirts of the area designated as a marine reserve. Thanks to our sponsor BetterHelp for making this episode possible! Go to https://betterhelp.com/sailingsoulianis for 10% your first month of therapy with BetterHelp. The beauty of our trimaran is in its foldability — it unfolds to be sailed and folds to be trailered. So far we’ve unfolded her on the water, but in this episode we attempt to unfold on land (for the first time!) so we can fix a leak in the hull. The big worry is, without the stability of the water on the opposing float/ama, the boat might want to roll off the trailer, and THAT we want to prevent at all costs! Hope you enjoy! They make it easy to hook the snubber onto a chain anchor rode which will let you anchor safely and with less steps. Tying the snubber to the chain can be combersome and tricky to do, but a chain hook simply slips onto the chain with no drama or fuss. Using this splice, you can create your own very strong snubber which can easily be setup and taken apart everytime you anchor. ↓BINGE WATCH↓ BINGE WATCH FROM THE BEGINNING: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlDgR504BxwnlEhveyFpjTUi6LLA4_s4L ▸ OUR BOAT (1968 Morgan 45): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brlatJgDP28 ▸ MERCHANDISE: https://rigging-doctor.creator-spring.com/ ▸ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/riggingdoctor ▸ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/sailingwisdom ▸ WEBSITE: https://www.riggingdoctor.com ▸ PAINTING COMMISIONS: artisticeyestudio@gmail.com ▸ ART FROM OUR VOYAGE: https://www.bluefeatherfineart.com ▸ MAIN CAMERA: https://amzn.to/3kYDNTs ▸ SECONDARY CAMERA: https://amzn.to/3x9icwm ▸ UNDERWATER CAMERA: https://amzn.to/3FBXFni ▸ STABILIZED CAMERA: https://amzn.to/3kUewcM ▸ NIGHTIME LENS: https://amzn.to/30HTuHe ▸ DRONE: https://amzn.to/3DzcgiB ▸ MICROPHONE: https://amzn.to/3DElSst ↓PARTNERSHIPS↓ ▸ PREDICT WIND: https://www.predictwind.com/?ref=riggingdoctor ▸ SUN OVEN: https://www.sunoven.com/riggingdoctor ▸ MANTUS ANCHORS: https://www.mantusmarine.com/?affiliates=119 ▸ OVERKILL SOLAR (LITHIUM BATTERY PARTS): https://overkillsolar.com/?myboi=187478592 ▸ BATTERY HOOKUP (LITHIUM BATTERY PARTS): https://www.batteryhookup.com (For an extra 5% off, use Promo Code: RIGGING5) ▸ AQUOS ELECTRIC OUTBOARD: https://www.aquospro.com?sca_ref=1008159.oxyRUafA2y ▸ LITHIUM CELLS: https://www.docanpower.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=455&tracking=06ORmUMyyrYyEpQ2VkP7mUHWKgx9B9SeQB6gb57tAV7ag91SsfJ5D2FxQRDgTqmm ▸ COLDEST WATER BOTTLES: https://thecoldestwater.com/?ref=shop-RiggingDoctor (For an extra 10% off, use Promo Code: RD) (For a chance to win a FREE water bottle: https://thecoldestwater.com/RiggingDoctor-giveaway) ▸ AMAZON: https://www.amazon.com/shop/riggingdoctor

** NOW SOLD ** ‘Olive’ is a 2004 Lagoon 440. This much sought-after 3-cabin, Owners’ version Lagoon 440 has just completed her cruise to the Pacific Islands of Fiji and New Caledonia and is now back in New Zealand. Her owners had prepared her extensively for this trip, with multiple upgrades and maintenance work. This vessel has a great blue water/liveaboard specification and has twin 75Hp Volvo engines with low hours (installed only in 2016 and 2019), an Onan 9kva Generator, 1300W solar, supplying 800 Ah Lithium batteries (all installed in 2019) and a full array of Raymarine Electronics and Chart plotters (2019). There is a 5KVA Victron Quattro charger/inverter, a 90l/hr Dessalator watermaker and saloon and owners’ cabin air conditioning (aircon installed in 2021). Her interior is in Beech, with light creme upholstery. Her saloon is airy and light, with the trademark excellent all-round visibility that Lagoons are known for. To port is a comfortable and large L-shaped settee with a low table that houses an additional dual zone fridge/ freezer. The Nav station, with duplicate nav instruments and plotter, is to starboard. The aft-facing galley with practical stainless-steel tops has lots of counter and storage space and is fitted with a Westinghouse induction hob and a Kitchen aid multi-function oven. Another fridge and freezer, in the galley and saloon are complimented by a cockpit drink fridge. All her cabins are ensuite, with large hull windows and overhead hatches to ensure ventilation, light, and space. The spacious owners’ cabin takes over the starboard hull and can be closed off with a sliding door. Aft is the island-style double berth, midships a desk, wardrobe, and sofa and up forward the large head with enclosed shower and washing machine. The port aft cabin also features a double island berth with good storage, its own head and shower. The port-forward cabin has a double berth, an ensuite head and shower, and a second door to the passageway. The flybridge on the 440 has complete all-around visibility, protected by a beautiful custom hard top, with a sliding hatch for sail trim and access steps to close the mainsail bag. Raymarine GPS plotter and multi-function displays are at the helm, with the mainsheet winch and other control lines at arm’s length. Custom stainless steel guard rails on the coach roof make for safe access to the mast. She has a full batten mainsail, furling jib and, for downwind performance, a gennaker on a removable furler and an MPS in a sock.

We got a drone! You can really get a sense of this forbidding and challenging New Mexico terrain from up above, and the bird's eye view of the Organ Mountains is really something. Rock climbing and mountain climbing on this journey is about to come to an end. Will Steve and Robin reach their goal to complete the traverse? What have they been up to? We'll be back on the water very soon. Thanks for coming on this journey with us! Prepping the sailboat for hauling, I was under a time constraint. This was about 3 days of work: unstepping the masts, removing and securing the standing rigging and running rigging in addition to the electrical cables running through the masts. As I got close to the transport date, we realized I also needed to remove more things... due to height restrictions. I really enjoyed being able to dig in to see how some of these things go together in this old sailboat.... something I wasn't quite able to do while the sailboat was in the water. ============== Support us ============== Like what we're doing & want to help??
