Hi folks we were stuck here for a short while waiting for a weather window to cross to Monastir. We met up with Patreon's and filled the freezer with Bacon and Bangers! A local got a bit uppity over his mooring. My blood INR levels get tested and they are very high at 6.5 and it caused some concerns. I had to go back for another test. Crossing the Ionian sea. Greece to Italy. This years weather in the Med has been very unstable due to solar activity in this El Niño year. The water has been very warm storing lots of energy. At some points the cape index has been off the charts and sudden storms and lightning have swept across Europe and the Med. Welcome back to the boatyard, this week we are finishing off the floor adn the pods on the tender for the tender and installing our DIY Upcycled Tender Collar. The tender collar is made out of recycled EVA foam floor mats, Kwick grip, silka flex glue, and ‘no more nails’. We got quoted $2K for a tender collar and when receiving the quote we put our thinking caps to come up with an alternative. Gym floor mats are made out of the same EVA foam and we put the word out in local facebook groups and found a heap of matts that were going to be thrown into the land fill - perfect for us. The collar is glued on with kwick grip, some silka glue and some “no more nails”. We hope to inspire other cruisers looking for a solution for stability for their tinny. Is this some of the best footage we have made? As always we tell it how it is and in Fethiye and Marmaris we were literally bobbing around in raw sewage just yards from the swimming beaches. We are paying 400TL to be pumped out and yet we have never in 4 years seen a commercial vessel get pumped out. But we have seen a lot empty their tanks very close to us in secluded bays. Or just outside them.... Tersan island becomes an anchorage that untenable. We and two other boat have to do a quick exit to better holding. Then there is the best lightning show ever and and wild boar wandering along the beach... What a cracking episode if we say so ourselves! Let us know what you think in the comments.
