Bonjour à tous ! Voilà presque un mois que les épisodes de Vendredi ont été interrompus… Mais ça y est, nous sommes de retour ! On reprend avec notre problème moteur au départ du port de Las Palmas. Dans cette vidéo, faute d’air, nous rejoignons très doucement le sud de Gran Canaria pour nous rapprocher de Ténérife. Pardonnez la faute d’orthographe que nous venons de remarquer (oui dans les sous-titres nous avons écrit « à fondS » au lieu de « à fond »…) Et pardonnez nos humeurs un peu maussades dans cette vidéo. This week I meet a major problem. The keel bolts are nearly all in place when something goes horribly wrong. Before that, I carry out an easy repair to my Ipotools inverter welder. I then discuss galvanic corrosion and material choices for keel bolts, and Hazel does a bit of work on her anchor chain box. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. In this episode of Sailing SV CUBA we leave Albania behind to sail south to “where the coconut oil melts”. In our case, that’s a sail to Greece. Because we do not want to arrive at Preveza in the dark, due to the fact that we have to pass through a very narrow canal, we leave Sarande, Albania and Corfu behind us, at 5 am. Because there was almost no wind, we had to motorsail for some time. Everything looks perfect at first, but soon we realize we have forgotten an important detail. Unable to turn back, we improvise, and it only makes the sail to the Ionian Sea more memorable. Later, the wind finally picked up and through our sail Lefkada comes into sight as well as Preveza. The entrance is a little tricky and wind, waves and currents are against us. It is easy to make a mistake here that could potentially ground the boat and put a stop to the journey. But we make it after all and though we have arrived, we are not allowed to film our sailing episodes on land yet or can even set foot on land overall yet – well theoretically/bureaucratically. Pantagruel sunk in tropical cyclone Yasa in Fiji in December 2020, but Micha refused to let that be the end of Pantagruel and spent the next year bringing her back to life.
