On Watch with Kadey-Krogen Yachts is a series of short videos designed to share the many features of Kadey-Krogen yachts. Videos of the long-range passagemaking trawlers will cover a wide range of topics ranging from the liveability aspects of the boats to the clean and accessible engine room to design and construction features.
Kadey-Krogen yachts are boats that are built for long-range cruising in comfort and safety but they also are built with liveability in mind. Lots of storage, a logical layout, and the company's ability to customize features of the boat to meet owner's needs makes moving aboard a seamless process and one that many owners enjoy. Bill and Staci McLauchlan, owners of a Kadey-Krogen 58' share why their boat is an ideal match for their lifestyle as well as their cruising goals.

Chilling out on a summer's day while watching a friend trying to kill himself! And no, the head cam didn't work and we didn't get the lobster!!
Katie Levinson started sailing Snipes 8 years ago. Now she's skippering for her sister in the Jr. Nationals and crewing for her Dad in the Sr. Nationals for the third time. She knows what's important out on the course and what makes a great class -- the friends you make at the regattas.
Sally Levinsons been sailing Snipes since she was 4 or 5 years old, the third generation of Levinsons to sail Snipes. Now that shes in college shes come back to her roots, to sail with her younger sister in the Jr. National Championship.
A look at our Variprop feathering propellor. It reduces drag under sail but still produces full power when motoring. Since it is a 4 bladed prop it produces the most thrust in the aperture we have between the skeg and the hull of our Southerly 42. Not familiar with Distant Shores? Harry Levinson comes from a family rich in Snipe tradition. He learned to sail Snipes with his Dad, but also had help from his uncles, Frank and Buzz, as well as from a few cousins. He's still sailing Snipes after more than 25 years but now he's got to decide if he's sailing with his daughters or his wife. Harry sailed the 2009 Nationals with daughter Katie.

Ok so they're porpoises but so what. The trip home from the Round the Isle of Wight Race was enlivened by a race with a pod.

I filmed this a couple of weeks ago. Zapcat powerboats racing around Plymouth sound.
Soprattutto in quadrato, finestrature, oblò e osterigi forniscono luce naturale in quantità.
Carmen Diaz has lived with Snipes as part of her family since 1947 when she got together with her high school sweetheart, Gonzalo. Since then she's watched as three generations of the Diaz family have sailed this one design boat around the world. The people she's met at regattas are a big part of her extended family and she's a big part of the Snipe family.
Henry Filter started sailing Snipes 25 years ago when he got out of college. Now he's sailing a lot with his son Christian. They just won the Special Jr. National Championship in Pensacola. Henry believes the Snipe is a special one design class. A class where information is freely given and honesty and fair play dominate the racing on the water. Those are just the sort of values he wants to teach his children.
Christian Filter's been sailing with his dad for a little more than three years, but skippering seems to run in the family as Christian drove to third place in the Snipe Junior competition this year at Pensacola and then crewed for his dad as they took 13th in the Heinzerling fleet. He's got a good perspective on what makes sailing a Snipe fun.
The last time I sailed Offatts was in the 70s with a buddy named Harold. Now I've sailed it again with his son John. We met another sailor on the water there, Al, who built the beautiful boat he was sailing. It was a beautiful day with a consistent breeze from the gulf that you just don't get on a lake. And thanks to Mary (John's mom) for the great dinner that evening. I'm feeling pretty smug and spoiled right now.
We have just got back home from another wonderful cruise in the Bahamas. We stopped en route from the Caribbean up to the Chesapeake Bay and were lucky to be able to spend almost 6 weeks in the Bahamas. For anyone who hasnt considered the islands as a cruising destination - here is a primer on sailing in these shallow waters. Not familiar with Distant Shores?
