MIAMI, Fla. (January 31, 2013) -- It was a critical day of racing for the ten Olympic and two Paralympic classes at the 2013 ISAF Sailing World Cup Miami. As the fleet series winds down for these events and in some cases new racing formats go into motion, the time is now for sailors to make a run at the leaderboard. The regatta's largest event this year is the Laser, which features 70-boats in gold and silver fleets. Sweden's Jesper Stalheim finished the first series, which concluded yesterday, with the lead and he finished today on top of the leaderboard in the new series. He was third and second today, while Charlie Buckingham (USA) overtook second place after winning race nine in the new series. The World #3 Bruno Fontes is in third.

Next it's north to the rugged Shetland Islands to explore the northernmost British Isles. Midsummer means a passage to the beautiful Norwegian coastline to investigate Viking heritage and sail into the amazing Fjords. Sailing back south we visit historic Orkney before heading to the whisky island of Islay and the Isle of Man. Dei libri preziosi in sé per sé, ma ancora di più perché, incendio dopo incendio, già erano sopravvissuti a vari avvenimenti intercorsi nei secoli e discendevano dai libri salvati dalla mitica Biblioteca di Alessandria d'Egitto. La conoscenza antica sopravvive solo se noi vogliamo farla sopravvivere! Applicandoci nella ricerca della verità, che è sempre stata minacciata, perché nemica dell'ignoranza." We had the great opportunity to visit and film on Leilei Island, along with an Indonesian TV team from Channel TVOne, at the invitation of the Governor of N Maluku Province in eastern Indonesia. The governor's home island is the most well known of the Gua Ici mini-archipelago chain on the western side of Halmehara Island. It boasts clear waters reflecting every color of blue, white sand beaches, and reputedly great diving, which we were sorry to not be able to see for ourselves. The summit of the hill has a commanding view of the surrounding idyllic islets. We met some friendly villagers who showed us how to make cassava flour. There are guest accommodations, and great hopes to develop the area for tourism. The villagers welcomed us warmly and served us a very nice lunch of local foods and drinking coconuts. The ride to and from Ternate city in the Governor's motor yacht was a real treat too, covering, in a few hours, a distance that took our yacht 10-12 hrs to cover a few days before.
