A huge rock flew up and destroyed our windshield, crazy part is this is a nice road! Chris Bake’s Team Aqua, with Jim Richardson steering, proved that she has lost none of her winning ways, when she claimed the Audi RC44 Porto Cervo Cup albeit by a mere point from Peninsula Petroleum, after a final day of three races, held in near perfect conditions off Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. One of the strangest aspects of this regatta was how high scoring it was with every team picking up poor results along the way. And yet it nonetheless remained impressively close with Slovenian Igor Lah’s Team CEEREF only two points adrift in third. These three boats were also today’s race winners.

The boys on Team Alvimedica reflect on being in the lead and approaching Gothenburg, the final destination on this very last leg of the race!

The fleet has crossed all of the Traffic Separation Zones, but with a little under 300 miles to the finish delirium is setting in.

Conditions stabilised with 7-10 knot winds for day three of fleet racing at this Audi RC44 Porto Cervo Cup, but despite this several of the most experienced teams posted big results, notably Team Nika which won the first race, came last in the third and won the last. At the end of the day Team Aqua has come out on top, five points ahead of Peninsula Petroleum, but incredibly the results are so close that nine boats are still able to win or at least podium in the grand finale.
