We are from South Australia and recently moved aboard our Roberts 40 yacht called Nandji. We have limited sailing experience but believe you can accomplish anything if you are passionate and dedicated to the cause. In this episode we make a make=shift halyard and sail back from the great barrier reef to Airlie beach. We were blessed with some beautiful calm seas and clear skies. Once back on land we fixed our problems and set sail for the spectacular Whitehaven beach and Hills inlet. This is the greatest distance south we have sailed and we are starting to really enjoy the long distance sailing and are becoming more comfortable with blue water sailing. My first video mission! I got asked from a norwegian sail-magazine called "Seilmagasinet" if I could make some drone footage of the first arriving sailboats in a regatta called "Seilmakeren Doublehanded", where there is only two crews aloud on each boat. They sailed from Askøy, outside Bergen, to Haugesund, my hometown, about 70 nautical miles. Then they return after 4 hours in port. Fantastic wind and weather made it all perfect for both the sailors and me as a drone-pilot. Hope you like the result, enjoy! :) Facebook: https://https://www.facebook.com/nobullshitjustsailing/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/erikaanderaa/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=3146656&ty=h Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/erik-aanderaa-552953a4?trk=nav_responsive_tab_profile
The seals in the Galapagos had quickly claimed La Vagabonde as their new home. Initially, they were ‘cute’, but after a few days they became stinky (they stunk to begin with, but everyone has their flaws) and very unwelcome onboard!! Apparently they go to the toilet where they sleep… We go and checkout some giant tortoises, which were just the most incredible creatures. We dive Kicker Rock, which was quite deep but well worth the effort. Unfortunately the vis was quite bad down there due to the currents so we couldn’t capture to much on camera. Riley saw his first hammerhead shark down there! Meet Nicole and Joel, my friends I met a few years ago overseas. I also slept on Nicoles front lawn in Torquay when I travelled Australia in my van. Cheers Nicole, you da bomb. Stay tuned for part 2 of the Galapagos :) I hope you all enjoyed this episode. Not only do we buy her but we spend the night on board. Then the next morning we have to reverse out of the marina, not always easy on a sail boat you haven't sailed before, and hoist the sails for the first time. It was all actually pretty uneventful and although the weather was miserable we had a great time.

A heard of wild elephants is too hard to pass up for Delos, so when we heard a rumor of an island on the remote West Coast of the Andamans we immediately set sail! After a nights sail and some searching we finally anchored in front of Interview Island. In the middle of no where we found the ranger station just as described and made contact with the small group of guys protecting this awesome place. With our little forestry permit in hand we head off into the interior of Interview Island to meet up with the rangers that live on the island. They tell us if we see any elephants and they charge us to either climb a tree or run in a zig-zag pattern. But they have a big rifle and seem to know their stuff. We trek through the island, go for a swim, and search for wild elephants! With our time running short we pull up the anchor and set sail back to Port Blair. On the passage back we cut through a really narrow channel and have to send Brady up the mast to avoid shout out all theshallow spots. We dodge a few squalls and retur to Port Blair to get ready for our big sail to Cocos Keeling, Australia! Our Mission It’s simple really- we just want to make you SMILE! We do this because we LOVE it. Given our short time on this AMAZING PLANET there’s absolutely, positively, nothing more we’d rather be doing with our time! We hope by sharing this adventure you will find some inspiration in your life. If doesn’t have to be sailing. It can be anything at all. Just take a few minutes every day for yourself, breathe deep and relax, and don’t forget to SMILE! Send Us Love We LOVE sailing, we LOVE traveling, and we LOVE making videos about it! TRAILER... Once labeled a “youth-at-risk,” 30-year old Matt Rutherford risked it all in an attempt to become the first person to sail alone, nonstop around North and South America. Red Dot on the Ocean is the story of Matt's death-defying voyage and the childhood odyssey that shaped him. The one-hour version is now airing on Public TV stations across the U.S. sponsored by Honda. For broadcast dates/times/stations, see http://www.redddotontheocean.com//watch-the-film/ Own the FULL 77-minute documentary for $10.99. YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBLfnASutcI Vimeo On Demand (stream + download) at https://vimeo.com/ondemand/reddotontheocean DVD, Blu-ray, HD Download at http://thesailingchannel.tv/reddot A Production of www.TheSailingChannel.TV and www.FlanneryFilms.com A film by Amy Flannery and Tory Salvia Producers: Tory Salvia, Amy Flannery, Stephanie Slewka Directed & Edited by Amy Flannery "Red Dot on the Ocean portrays the story as triumph over adversity and wayward youth....we learn that he spent part of his childhood in a cult and struggled with ADHD. That condition may have led him to -- and helped him thrive in--the adrenaline highs of sailing.... Plays like an upbeat, real-life “All Is Lost,” as Mr. Rutherford, with relatively simple sailing equipment, contends with setbacks and the elements." -- Ben Kenigsberg, NEW YORK TIMES Matt Rutherford’s childhood was fraught with obstacles. He grew up in an obscure Christian cult, struggled with ADHD and learning disabilities, was in drug rehab at 13, lived on the streets, and in juvenile detention. While attending a special high school, Matt discovered that he actually liked to learn and developed a passion to see the world. "Director Amy Flannery balances the footage of the Rutherford's voyage with background information about his troubled childhood.... Both his childhood and his voyage are compelling....The way that he changed his life 180 degrees after being a street punk feels quite inspirational and poignant." -- Avi Offer, NYC MOVIE GURU After graduating, Matt taught himself how to sail, crossed the Atlantic alone to Europe, sailed south to Africa, then back across the Atlantic. Along the way he read about Ernest Shackleton and other Arctic explorers, and became obsessed with sailing the Northwest Passage -- the once impassable ice-clogged waterway that joins the North Atlantic with the North Pacific. "It's an inspiring tale, to be sure.... Rutherford is an engagingly charismatic, charmingly self-deprecating figure...." -- By Frank Scheck, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER In June 2011, Matt departed on an incredible, death-defying voyage to sail nonstop around the Americas. On an old, scrappy 27-foot sailboat he spent the next 309 days alone at sea. He braved the icebergs of the Arctic and the treacherous waters off Cape Horn. "This is a remarkable film, one of the best sailing documentaries ever produced.... What makes this story so engrossing, though, is that the sailing part is only half the tale...." -- Herb McCormick, Senior Editor, CRUISING WORLD MAGAZINE Before he left, professional sailors called him crazy and declared his proposed 27,000-mile journey “a suicide mission”. But Rutherford proved them wrong. He brought back remarkable video footage and audio logs, raised $120,000 for charity, and entered the record books. "Endlessly engrossing....It's hard to get more inspirational than the real-life voyage of Matt Rutherford....Documentarian Amy Flannery gives us a feel for the constant pounding of the waves in rough water, juxtaposed with the dangerous beauty of icebergs....You can't help but be gratified at this eminently nice guy's amazing accomplishment." -- Frank Lovece, FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL How does a troubled youth become a sailing legend? Ask Matt Rutherford. His story is full of surprises and makes us all feel we can do more than we ever imagined. "In a word: inspiring....It deserves to become a classic….I found myself on the edge of my seat, my heart racing…." -- Andy Schell, 59-NORTH.COM, contributing editor SAIL MAGAZINE DVD available at www.quaddvdgems.com/documentaries/ Browse our VOD collection at https://vimeo.com/sailflix/vod_pages/ Join our eNewsletter at http://www.thesailingchannel.tv/join for news and discount offers.

http://tulasendlesssummer.com Crossing the Gulf was mildly uneventful besides us leaving a bit too North, beam seas making us not feel great, and OH, A BIRD LANDED ON OUR BOAT! He was small with a hurt wing. It was crazy seeing him flying to us 20 miles out in the ocean! We made it to Bimini safe and sound. Now time for some fun and adventure!
http://tulasendlesssummer.com Here is a short video on how to replace the pull cord on a Honda 2000 watt eu2000i generator. It seems like a lot just to get to the pull cord but it is necessary because the start cord recoil is buried behind the fuel tank. Please comment below with any questions.
