Today we depart St Vincent after stocking up water and fuel on 'Sophisticated Lady', and head for Bequia where we will stock up food and provisions before heading South to next islands in the Grenadines on route to Grenada. We will stop overnight along the way to update forecast and pick up anything else we need along the way, and do our best to update you as we track the developing front and try to keep out of its way! A little less than a year ago, while still in the Bahamas, I filmed the removing and replacing of my Racor fuel filters. It's not difficult to do, but I know I searched the internet for some info or tricks on how to do it before I tackled the job. I've edited it into a short little video that I thought I would share with you. It's not meant to be an Instructional Video, Lol I know some things but I'm no teacher, rather it's just a heads up on how it went for me. New fuel filters cost approx $18 US at West Marine or $8 US in the Dominican Republic if you know where to look ; ) I highly recommend installing these pre filter Racor or similar fuel filters, especially if you are going to be purchasing diesel fuel in 3rd world countries which can be dodgy at times, but not from Popo in Luperon. His fuel was excellent, although we checked it closely and filtered it while fueling to be sure. I've since learnt that you can install an inline fuel pressure gauge that will tell you when flow pressure has decreased and you should probably change your fuel filters. This little trick can save you money on replacing fuel filters that you didn't really need to replace, but this could also be a case pf personal preference. In the end we all make our own judgement calls on what to do or not to do. Impi is a catamaran sailing around the world. In this video we sail into the Loyalty Islands and in particular our visit to OUVEA, an island that is mostly friendly. The island is spectacularly beautiful yet carries with it a history of conflict and turmoil. The beauty in nature makes this very difficult to believe !!! Ana and I loved the island for it's beauty - we were excited to arrive at a village called Mouli but this was short lived and sadly is the unfriendliest welcome after sailing much of the world. Many sailors have differing experiences of this, which again goes to show the volatility of the islands leaders / spokesman. Well, we 'write this off' to the fact that the Chief is away on business in Noumea and the Spokesman having a rather bad day - an eye opener none the less. We encourage folks to visit the island - it is truly a wondrous treasure trove of beauty - its never ending white sandy beaches will dazzle the eyes and please the soul. In this episode we went ahead and continued the project of removing the teak decks, removing the hundreds (almost 1000 screws) from just this section of the deck, patching the holes with epoxy and drilling some larger inspection holes to check out the core under neath the fiberglass. All in all it has been a large job, but honestly one that I am glad we are doing and not as bad as I thought it would be. I was so worried about this I have put it off for 2 years now. This week we sailed to Long Island and made few stops down there. First leg was about 30 miles heading from George Town to the northern part of the Long Island. As always we fished, but got nothing. We have spent a night there and the next morning we started 40 miles passage to the middle of the island where we planned to anchor for a few days. First we went to see Dean's blue hole - world's deepest blue hole which plunges to 663 ft. This spectacular place took us some time to be discovered. International freediving competitions are held here annually. We also visited Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church that has been built by Father Jerome in 1947. Father Jerome's architectural talents weren't only limited to Cat Island's Hermitage. And finally (my dream came true) we were able to discover "old time" living by Lucayan Indians - Hamilton's Cave. This is one of the Bahamas' largest caves. Inside we easily were able to move, standing straight and looking up. We have seen stalactites and stalagmites formations between frying bats. Lucayans were thought to have lived here circa AD 500 and there artefacts were discovered in the caverns. Unexpected mast pulls can happen to you! We find out what it takes to perform a "perfect start" from both the crew and the race committee´s point of view as Team Ceeref executed strong starts on the first day of fleet racing, enabling them to win the first two races. However in the third race their start was a little ‘too’ good - they crossed the line a second too early and had to loop around the race committee boat to restart correctly. Winning this race was John Bassadone’s Peninsula Petroleum, a score that enabled the Gibraltar-based team to take the overall lead. The RC44 Cascais Cup is the fourth event of the 2016 Championship Tour, which pitts the world's top businessmen and the best sailors in the industry compete in high performance one-design 44-foot carbon racing yachts. Navigateur d'origine néo-zélandaise et américaine, j'ai posé mes valises à Lorient en 2009 pour concrétiser mes rêves de course au large. J'ai choisi Lorient car c'était pour moi l'endroit idéal pour progresser, et je ne me suis pas trompé car cette vile que l'on surnome la "Sailing Valley" n'a cessée de se développer depuis. J'ai profité de ce cadre idéal pour participer à la Mini Transat, la Route du Rhum, gagner la Global Ocean Race et réaliser mon dernier tour du monde en IMOCA sur la Barcelona World Race.
